Fruit and meat is WRONG.

Wrong, wrong wrong.

Lamb and watermelon salad - wrong.
Chicken and mango - very very wrong indeed.
Sultanas in a curry...really, must you?
Pork belly with rhubarb and cucumber - just why would you?

Ham and pineapple pizza - fine, okay then, if you must. Pineapple on a gammon steak - why would you if you could have a dippy egg? But once again, if you absolutely must.

AIBU?

Don't let the ham and pineapple brigade off so lightly. There is a special circle of hell reserved just for them.

I don't feel strongly about many things but this is near the top of my list.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 22/03/2016 19:03

YANBU

Out of interest, where do you stand on bacon in hot cross buns?

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 22/03/2016 19:04

its a bit henry viii to my mind

Pinkheart5915 · 22/03/2016 19:04

I think it depends on the combination.
Chicken with a mango salad is awesome and Sultanas and apricots in tagine are lovely.
Have to admit I wouldn't touch lamb and watermelon though

ScrambledSmegs · 22/03/2016 19:04

Pork and apple sauce?
Lamb and redcurrant jelly?
Turkey and cranberry sauce?

Some rather classic combinations there.

SugarplumMary · 22/03/2016 19:05

But what about classic like pork and apple?

Sausages with tomatoes in?

Duck and plum sauce/orange sauce?

Though I don't like the example you give.

switswoo81 · 22/03/2016 19:05

No no no Yabu .. Rocket , parma ham , peaches, mozzarella and a strawberry / balsamic dressing .Food of the Gods ...

SugarplumMary · 22/03/2016 19:06

x-post there.

DaphneWhitethigh · 22/03/2016 19:06

What Scrambled said.

Also lamb and apricot tagine, and I tend to add prunes to my beef casserole if I can't get any pickled walnuts.

scarednoob · 22/03/2016 19:09

I don't approve of any sweet /savoury witchcraft. Yeuch.

wigglesrock · 22/03/2016 19:09

Fruit and meat are my favourite combination - apple, banana, sultanas all make an appearance mixed up with a curry. Turkey and cranberry, chicken and mango, beef with tomatoes, chicken with lemons. Ham and pineapple is just the tip of my iceberg.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 22/03/2016 19:09

YABVVU! I make a fab chicken and mango salad and ham and pineapple are made to be nestled next to each other on a flat crust pizza with lashings and cheese!

Oh and YABU for making me drool! Grin

TattyDevine · 22/03/2016 19:10

Pork and apple I can't do. I always avoid the cranberry at Christmas (though I will have a smear in a brie and bacon pannini conversely)

Plum sauce is an interesting one, because there's no fleshy/watery stuff, it's very concentrated, and salty sweet, so bordering on acceptable.

Lamb and redcurrant - I am currently campaigning to have the legislation reviewed to make sure this is a criminal offence.

Tomatoes don't count. Yes, they are a fruit, but cooked down, somehow they become a whole new thing so hit me with Spaghetti Bolognese. Plus they are a kind of savoury fruit. That said, I don't like whole tomatoes anyway so I'd push them aside in a salad (I've tried to like them, and I could eat them if I risked offending someone but would probably wash them down with more wine)

YABU I love fruit and meat.

Curry with coconut?

Crazypetlady · 22/03/2016 19:12

Chicken and mango curry
Chicken and mango salad with sugar snaps and a honey mustard dressing.
Watermelon and feta no meat is know but just pointing out fruit can make a meal
Pork and apple sausages

YABU ! 😀

TattyDevine · 22/03/2016 19:13

I suppose coconut is a fruit. Damn. I do like coconut in a curry. Once again though it's not juicy/fibrous/overtly sweet...

Yabu

I bloody love ham and pineapple pizza, coronation chicken, Stilton and apple, turkey with cranberry sauce.

They're all delicious!

TattyDevine · 22/03/2016 19:13

Please tell me you were joking about banana in a curry Wiggles

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/03/2016 19:14

Pork and apple too mmmmmm

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 22/03/2016 19:15

I bloody love chicken and mango.
That is all

SugarplumMary · 22/03/2016 19:15

Pork and apple sausages are nice - no watery bits.

Find a lot of butchers do these combination - pork and leek, pork and apple, pork and tomato was last lot we had supposedly to match nationalities of some sporting event on. They were extremely nice.
