I like cheese and fruit combinations though. Wensleydale and apple pie or Christmas cake, sweet chutneys, strong cheddar and chilly jelly, blue cheese and dates. Just not meat.

YABU to ban it all, but some of the listed combos aren't that great.

YABVVVVVU! Fruit and meat are perfect together! Pork and apple sauce, turkey and cranberry, gammon and pineapple, pork and banana, lamb and redcurrant or apricots. I could go on and on!

I disagree with your OP wholeheartedly. Fruit lightens up meat nicely. Grilled pork shops with a spicy mango salsa? Yes please.

Bad luck him, then, because I make curry with sultanas, sliced raw banana and fried banana amongst the side dishes, which the DC and I pile on with the onion, cucumber, coconut, peanuts etc as DH sits complaining about food perversions.

There is a wonderful South African dish (bobotee) of baked lamb mince with apricots and apple. Yum. DH doesn't like it, the bastard, so I never make it any more

I never have ketchup with meat, not even sausages or a burger, but accept that it's a common and well-liked combo, even for those not fond of fruit and meat combos.

Spicy chicken is lush with mango.

Lamb with apricots is lovely, too (though no on your list) as is duck a l'orange. I also love pineapple with gammon. I think pineapple should be paired with salty things - I hate it sweetened.

I take your point about the rest of your list, though, apart from the odd curried sultana!

I ordered a prawn salad in a restaurant a few years ago, when it came it had blueberries and chunks of strawberry and orange segment in it. I sent it back.
