Went away for weekend. He had promised me he'd get a haircut ready for interview on Monday (hasn't worked since April.) Just got home, no haircut. Which means no job, I could scream!!

Who?

MrsSippy · 13/12/2015 20:40

get the garden shears out

BackInTheRealWorld · 13/12/2015 20:40

Is the job as a hair model or something?

iklboo · 13/12/2015 20:41

Why would a haircut guarantee a job?

molyholy · 13/12/2015 20:41

Your child or your partner?

mincebloodypie · 13/12/2015 20:44

Yabu. It's his hair. How would you like it if he moaned at YOUR hairstyle?

UterusUterusGhali · 13/12/2015 20:45

Basin. Kitchen scissors. Job done.

Who TF are you talking about?

mudandmayhem01 · 13/12/2015 20:50

I can understand the op's frustration if her unemployed partner isn't making an effort to look smart for an interview, especially if is part of a pattern of lack of commitment to finding work. I bet there is a back story here.

Sirzy · 13/12/2015 20:51

If it is someone old enough to be going for a job interview then they are old enough to decide how they want their hair surely?

Oysterbabe · 13/12/2015 20:53

We need more.

BackInTheRealWorld · 13/12/2015 21:00

Oysterbabe is right, I think we need pics of the barnet in question!

doitanyways · 13/12/2015 21:02

Rueful Smile from me; I think posting a picture might result in banishment from Mumsnet and sending over to netmums! Can't cope with that!

You're absolutely right that a haircut won't guarantee a job but honestly, it's bushy and wild and totally out of control and looks, frankly, dreadful. He's never liked having his hair cut but needs must and it's just frustrating - I wouldn't employ him to be honest.

Still ...

Littlef00t · 13/12/2015 21:07

What time on Monday is his interview? Any chance he can pop down to the barber first thing?

doitanyways · 13/12/2015 21:08

No, I pleaded asked if this was a possibility!

SirChenjin · 13/12/2015 21:08

Anyone going for an interview needs to present a smart front. Long straggly hair is not a smart front. YANBU esp. as he promised you he'd do it.

Stillunexpected · 13/12/2015 21:09

Is this your DH? Son? Partner? Father?

Stillunexpected · 13/12/2015 21:10

Pleading for him to go tomorrow suggests there is actually time for him to get it cut - what time is the interview?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 13/12/2015 21:14

Hope you are not financially subsidising this person; he sounds a little work shy.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 13/12/2015 21:20

Is this partner or son? It's quite relevant.

doitanyways · 13/12/2015 21:29

The interview is at 9, so I can't see him being able to cut it unfortunately.

I just feel cross. Apparently he has spent all weekend Preparing Answers but the one thing that could have actually helped, he didn't do. And I know that irritation is unreasonable of me but I'm afraid I feel it just the same.

KeepOnMoving1 · 13/12/2015 21:30

Who???

CatMilkMan · 13/12/2015 21:30

I'm probably not in the same situation as you but I'm trying to think how it would go if DP told me to get a hair cut or if I told her to do something with her hair.
Neither of us would change a fucking thing for the other.

doitanyways · 13/12/2015 21:34

But would you go to an interview with hair that looked like your been dragged through the proverbial hedge backwards Cat? I'm guessing you wouldn't. And it's me who will have to deal with the upset when he doesn't get the job (which he won't) and me who will have to keep providing for money so please, carry on not changing a fucking thing by all means but don't assume I'm some weird controlling bitch please.

OP posts:
nanetterose · 13/12/2015 21:35

So it is your partner then?

doitanyways · 13/12/2015 21:36

No, it's someone I have caring responsibilities towards put it that way!
