My partner doesn't want to buy anything for our son for Christmas and expects me to write from mum and dad on his gifts. WTF. Why would I? I've spent time and money choosing a gift and wrapping it why should he get credit too?

Eh? Why doesn't he want to but your child a Christmas present? That's a much bigger issue than what gets written on a tag!!

Don't parents buy joint gifts for their children , unless you are separated of course.

No not joint money, our son is only 18 months so he doesn't see the point of getting anything, he only got him a sleep suit last year and that's cause it was on sale

If you are together, and both parents to the child, then why aren't you doing it jointly? Why doesn't he want to get his son a gift?

I might be inclined to write his name on the gifts if your son is a bit older and you want to protect him from being hurt that his dad hasn't bothered to get him anything for Christmas.

When my ex has been appallingly thoughtless towards my DC I have gritted my teeth and covered for him as best I can, purely to save them from being crushed.

Now they are teenagers they see things exactly as they are unfortunately.

I just don't get this 'no joint money' thing. You're are either a couple and a family or just two people living in the same household that shag occasionally.

He only gives me £100 and that goes on shopping and council tax, I am lucky if he lets me have any more money, so I buy my son presents from my money, never had joint finance

The name on the tag is irrelevant obviously , unless your child is extremely gifted .
What's concerning is your dp not thinking children should have gifts .
