I don't think there is anything very important on your list (since you mention "something else very important"). If I found a forum full of misogynists or racists I wouldn't belong, but mn is so varied that on some threads I think wow, lots of posters just like me and on others I think I landed in some sort of parallel universe.

I just think it's having a temporary personality calibration, which admittedly does feel a bit weird - I feel more alienated from general currents of opinion on Mn than at any time since I joined in 2011. And when I read an OP, I'm currently far less likely to be able to predict accurately where the current of opinion will go.

But something like the cousins marrying thread - which is weird to me because I had absolutely no idea so many were so viscerally revolted by the idea of first cousins marrying - is clearly equally weird to other people because they find it incomprehensible that so many people aren't remotely bothered by it, even if the idea of marrying their own first cousins makes their skin crawl.

I've been here for years as well. Sometimes i cant get worked up about anything that anyone is frothing about for days at a time.

There are a lot of views which are fashionable on here which i have never ever seen displayed in RL.

However i cant keep away and I actually love the repetitive cycle of AIBU:

The christmas family fall outs.
The new year party crisis'.
The rows about Easter choc and MILs.
Wedding season et al.
The summer hols angst.
Weddings again.
Kids going back to school.
Run up to christmas.

And so it begins again
I feel all is right with the world when i've scanned through it all each day.

Just to say as well. What I am now is not what I've always been.

I used to be a single mum, working full-time in a high paid job with a flash car.

So, I like to avoid certain threads or else I'd end up reaching through the screen and slapping thickos people with a wet fish for there ridiculous statements about feckless single parents, work shy dole-ites etc.

Love the honesty on this thread. OP none of us 'belong' but it's good to share sometimes even if we just laugh at stupid posts. I agree with most of your list and where i don't I have no opinion whatsoever. That's what I love about mumsnet, you realise how different we all are and that's ok. Vive la difference!

I've had lots of good advice on here. Just be selective. I hate the threads that become 'i'm right, you're wrong' because obviously we are never going to agree on everything. I hate it when a poster asks AIBU and opinions are given and other posters criticise my response when they've already given theirs. My opinion is my opinion and only the OP who asked the effin question in the first place can decide what they do with the advice given. Phew that's better!

My dh is not one of those domestic gods who can cook clean and look after children all the time. In fact he's an old fashioned Victor Meldrew, but I love him warts and all.

I cannot afford spa days or a weekend away, not that dh would look after the kids for a whole weekend

I love it too. I've been posting here for five years and I don't think the place goes through phases particularly. It's as bad as it is good.

A lot of threads will attract the school playground mentality I find, so it can end up with a lot of people posting who all sort of gang up together and wade in.

If something looks like it isn't going to interest me I don't bother to click on it. I imagine others are the same so people do tend to come down heavily on one side or the other over most things.

Having said that I think there's an awful lot of stuff said on here that people wouldn't dream of saying in RL and a lot of people do live in a bit of a fantasy world I suspect. People seem to get worked up about the oddest things: loo brushes for example is one that crops up every so often that seem to last for days but is something that I find really hard to get into a froth about.

Do people really give that much head space to deciding whether to go out and buy a loo bush? Well yes, judging by the posts on MN, apparently they do. Weird.
