To have realised that I just don't belong here?

Been here for donkeys years but reading recent threads, I realise that:

I don't really care if people pierce their babies or toddlers ears.

Can't get that worked up about male circumcision.

I like Mathew Wright

Am actually quite fond of WH Smiths

I like my in laws

I hate the phrase "wine o' clock"

There was something else also very important but I can't remember it.

Suggestions of suitable new hangouts that meet my superior/ inferior (depending on your viewpoint) tastes are welcome.

Aah see Reni2 has already mentioned loo brushes.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks that's odd. Grin

DinosaursRoar · 06/11/2015 19:38

Epnoas - you missed out the "Halloween is just American imported begging!" - followed by several pages of annoyed Scots pointing out it's not American but Scottish.

And "fireworks should be banned!!! My cat got scared."

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 06/11/2015 19:40

Oh there's loads of stuff that I do/believe that lots here wouldn't but lots would too.
There are loads of people who are vocal about stuff but hardly anyone is going to start a thread about something that they don't mind.
Lots of people probably share your views.

And what's the problem with saying meal? That comes up all the time! In fact I've just had a lovely meal. Meal meal meal meal MEAL!

Posts that start "You sound lovely" make me feel a little bit boaky.

I'm always amazed at threads like "DD dropped her toy and a woman picked it up and gave it back to DD without asking me!!!! I mean she actually touched it urgh ewww" etc etc, and then everyone piles in with "Call the police"!!!

I don't belong here either but I just can't keep away dammit

Bambambini · 06/11/2015 19:43

It was really the W H Smith thing that finally did it for me, tipped me over the edge Sad. I've never felt so on my tod before.

Actually people who like Matthew Wright should really only mix with each other. RubberFacedWankers.net

Caprinihahahaha · 06/11/2015 19:45

My local WH Smiths is filled with a comfortable, predictable, grubby incompetence. The ones at airports can fuck off.

Bambambini · 06/11/2015 19:50

"You sound like a very unique and beautiful snowflake."

Thanks Sheba Blush. I don't often get many compliments here.

I was thinking of starting a sweepstake for number of threads started about the JL Xmas ad. I've spotted 3 so far.

I hate the instant diagnosis of someone being a 'narc' if you don't get on with them. Suddenly everyone is a psychotherapist!

LTB -every time I read that I think of people carrying pick forks and torches crying 'he's emotionally abusive because he's done x,y or z (insert relatively minor transgression - forgot to put loo seat down, didn't agree with you, likes his mother ) evil fucking bastard. Nods to Briancoxreborn Grin

Ah OP, you are a proper individual.
Just like everyone else.

I was ever so excited to read my very first thread relating to helium balloons the other day, I thought they were an urban legend.

Then I read the immortal line "I hope that if your kids ever need an MRI and can't have one you can tell them that they used it all up by sending balloons to nanny in heaven all those years ago..." or some such bollocks.

It then occurred to me that I at that point had 3 helium balloons bobbing around in my house so I went and sucked the helium out and had a good giggle.

EponasWildDaughter · 06/11/2015 20:03

Bugger. Right:

The Christmas family fall outs.
The new year party crisis'.
Mothers Day outrage.
The rows about Easter choc and MILs.
Wedding season et al.
The summer hols angst.
Weddings again.
Kids going back to school.
Halloween is just American imported begging!
Run up to Christmas.

....... more? Grin

Valentines day angst

Fireworks night! (Neighbor set my fence/car/arse on fire)

Suzietwo · 06/11/2015 20:08

The parenting advice particularly around babies drives me mental. Which I appreciate is ridiculous given the name of the site. But it makes me very very shouty

Yeh yeh I know I'm lucky to have had 3 good sleepers and NOTHING AT ALL to do with anything I've done

Missyaggravation · 06/11/2015 20:08

Mn does my nut in but I still love it. Have been here years, and the same old threads pop up again and again, still think its the best place on the internet. I'm a single mother, lha house blah blah blah. Do get fed up of it now and again and the spam bots have basically made the politics section unuseable, but meh, so many intelligent and erudite women, very consciousness raising

Caprinihahahaha · 06/11/2015 20:08

I like to ignore the John Lewis, complain that idiots are making a fuss about a fucking ad and what's the world coming to. Then I catch it one evening when I've had a glass of wine and say 'oh god that's so lovely'

Covering all the bases with my arse on the fence. It's my whole MN persona really.

Learningtoletgo · 06/11/2015 20:10

Birthday parties (scatter liberally throughout the year)

Missyaggravation · 06/11/2015 20:12

I don't even click on most perennials now, what to call my daughters fanny, yup the Halloween, what's the big deal? I craft my kids Christmas presents with a hunk of wood and a rusty spoon, and so on Grin

Mehitabel6 · 06/11/2015 20:13

I think that most people are with you OP- the quiet majority.
I love MN - people get so het up about things that normally pass us by in RL.

EponasWildDaughter · 06/11/2015 20:13

Perceived MN Royalty outrage (scatter liberally also).
