To have realised that I just don't belong here?

Been here for donkeys years but reading recent threads, I realise that:

I don't really care if people pierce their babies or toddlers ears.

Can't get that worked up about male circumcision.

I like Mathew Wright

Am actually quite fond of WH Smiths

I like my in laws

I hate the phrase "wine o' clock"

There was something else also very important but I can't remember it.

Suggestions of suitable new hangouts that meet my superior/ inferior (depending on your viewpoint) tastes are welcome.

No, you're wrong.
Smiths at airports are great if you are browsing but they always have one manned till and three self service machines for 3 thousand customers. And the one member of staff hates his/her job and wants everyone in the queue to miss their flight.

Bambambini · 06/11/2015 22:04

Where were you all then on the Smiths thread - the hate was strong and felt ever so smal and lonely! Took it rather personal (and my name's not even Smith).

I do like Mathew Wright, he's just misunderstood on here (though trying to forget his performance in IACGMOOH.

Ah, I think my other very important thing was that I quite like Nick Grimshaw, he makes me laugh though I don't listen that often.

On top of that he had Coldplay on this morning and Chris Martin was surprisingly funny and charming - was pleasantly surprised.

I think i remember the knitting thread - wasn't she accused of child abuse at one point?

Smiths should just have browsing shops. That would work.
I'd like those.

Sallystyle · 06/11/2015 22:09

Ohh Grimshaw is hot!

Bambambini · 06/11/2015 22:09

Oh, and Alan Rickman's voice annoys me - very nasal and I imagine he snuffles and snorts back phlegm a lot. Other than that, I quite like him.

Apparently I'm a racist and shop at famers markets?

News to me.

Oh and I should eat more carbs??????

ginslinger · 06/11/2015 22:13

When did that happen Chilli? Are you very slim?

ginslinger · 06/11/2015 22:14

Yes mary - i remember now - is Trinity still around? I haven't seen her recentlu

stoppingbywoods · 06/11/2015 22:17

I realise the thread's moved on but just have to put in a word of support for Bono (though he doesn't deserve it as he dodges paying tax). He works very hard for great causes and is right in thinking we all need to give more. I can never see what's so annoying about that. That's all Grin

LumelaMme · 06/11/2015 22:19

I don't like Smith's much. Our local one is gloomy and depressing: it reminds me of the 1970s.

I just don't understand not having a loo brush. You can replace a flannel with a sponge or one of those shower scrubby things, but what would you use instead of a loo brush?

But however exasperating I find some of the threads, MN is still the place that taught me about narcissistic personalities, and made my late father suddenly make sense.

MazzleDazzle · 06/11/2015 22:24

'Gosh' and 'hurrah' really get me riled! Does anyone actually say these things in real life?

Correcting someone's grammar is bloody rude.

Heaven help any man who dares start a thread asking for some advice Confused.

Oh and don't get me started on the the weird cliquey thread titles (which quite often contain the word 'hurrah')!

However, I've been on a 5:2 fasting thread for two years and without exception, everyone on it is lovely. Grin

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/11/2015 22:29

No-one belongs here. There isn't a MN hive mind. Everyone was kicking off on a thread the other day and I thought, on a different day, it would have had the complete opposite response. You can never tell.

I love the cycle of threads. Can I add:
There's a ghost in my wardrobe/attic/outside my house
Someone said LTB on a relationship thread so I've come to AIBU to bitch about the advice in relationships
Cyclists vs drivers

I agree its been a bit odd here since the hacking - more goady fuckers than usual but they will get bored and toddle off eventually.

I say 'Hurrah' but usually in tones of heavy sarcasm... Oh, hurrah, the bloody dog has rolled in fox shit again...

BrianCoxReborn · 06/11/2015 22:32

I love Bono. I don't care how much people hate him, it makes me love him more.

*the MNer not the band.

I love our WH Smith. It smells so.....papery. it reminds me of back to school trips for stationery

Caprinihahahaha · 06/11/2015 22:33

I use hurrah. I might be being ironic but I can't be sure.

There's a new JL advert?

Oh hurrah.

ReluctantCamper · 06/11/2015 22:40

Before I had DC I loved WH Smiths. Browsing the insanely diverse magazine section was my idea of heaven. Now I can't think of anything worse than being trapped in smiths.

I say gosh, and not even in an ironic way.

I see your point in a way. Some threads do seem full of people on a different wavelength. I quite like being judgey about things like pierced ears on babies and circumcision though I don't really give them a thought in real life. I read the Daily Mail and quote it to my leftie friend just to be annoying. It would be a dull world if we all agreed. One thing I do hate though is people picking up on spelling and grammatical errors.
