to ask if anyone has had a psychic reading that was extremely accurate?

One that could not be down to cold reading. For example, giving out very specific details such as exact dates, unusual names, basically precise facts that cannot be fished for or guessed and are not vague?

Without any beliefs your lives are meaningless.

You don't believe my life is meaningless, if you're religious.

I don't believe my life is meaningless, and I'm not religious. (I find meaning without a supernatural explanation.)

So who thinks my life is meaningless?

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 17:42

I think so. What's it all for, if you're just going to become nothing. Just my view.

propelusagain · 14/05/2015 17:44

and you rose- just a puppet of a crazed old geezer? At least I am my own boss.

I feel sorry for you Roseforarose if you can't see any meaning in your life past religion.
You are clinging on like a rat at sea on a leaky lifeboat.

EastMidsMummy · 14/05/2015 17:45

Surely your view is that I will go to heaven or hell? My life won't be meaningless - it's a big test (that I will have flunked, presumably).

fackinell · 14/05/2015 17:48

Mine too, Rose.whats it al for? We came from somewhere, to me it makes sense we will go on to somewhere. I see death as like a metamorphosis and to think as the atheists do would utterly terrify me!! Shock

fackinell · 14/05/2015 17:53

Propelusagain, that's unfair. You don't know Rose, I'm sure there is a huge amount to her and religion is just a way of living to her. If all you non believers have it sussed then why care what we think. We aren't trying to indoctrinate you into our way of thinking.

propelusagain · 14/05/2015 17:55

Not unfair at all. Rose told me my life was meaningless.

How should I respond? She was bloody rude!!

Hakluyt · 14/05/2015 17:56

Rose- can I ask you-you ever question anything?

Because I happened to know that all the sites you have linked to on this thread are either discredited or too anecdotal to be worth the pixels they are written in- but it would have taken you about 15 seconds to find out for yourself before you posted them.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 17:57

propeluseagain it's strange you use that description of someone who believes in God because that is always how I see atheists, cast adrift on a stormy sea with no land for miles around. No hope of rescue. Whereas I find joy in life knowing that it's not going to end and I'll not fade into oblivion. God is light, without him you'll walk in darkness. Id hate to be a non believer, as Fackinell says it really would be terrifying.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:00

Hak can you provide links to prove they're all discredited, and what about the link someone put up up thread about prayers for the sick being futile. Is that discredited too, or is it just the ones that suit your agenda.

propelusagain · 14/05/2015 18:03

I can swim rose- that's the difference.

I don't want to put my trust into some leaky old lifeboat that is heading the wrong way.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:06

I feel sorry for you Roseforarose if you can't see any meaning in your life past religion.

I'm not dead religious though, I dont go to church regularly, I live a full life with children and grandchildren, I just happen to believe that there is an afterlife and I do believe in God. It's all you who do t believe that I feel sorry for.

propelusagain · 14/05/2015 18:08

Spare your pity rose. Have you thought about voluntary work?

Lipsync · 14/05/2015 18:08

Rose and Fackinell, have you noticed how fear-filled your language is when referring to atheism? You keep using words like 'terrifying' and 'cast adrift'. Should you not be asking yourself some searching questions about what precisely it is you are so afraid of in other people's disbelief, and whether there's a relationship between that fear and your intense need to believe in an afterlife?

I can assure you lack of belief is not at all terrifying, and I speak as someone who grew up in a very devout home in a very religiously observant society, so I lived for the first two decades of my life with religious belief being the norm.

Hakluyt · 14/05/2015 18:11

Not going to do your work for you, Rose. As I said, 15 seconds of googling.........

You've already acknowledged that your psychic detective was a fraud. The prayers studies are easy to find. And the Australian miracle has no accreditation whatsoever, so can safely be discounted. Particularly considering how easy it would have been for him to get some and change the world forever

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:18

I only mentioned cast adrift because I was told I was like a rat at sea in a leaky life boat. It's not normally an expression I'd use. As regards what it is we are afraid of in others disbeliefs.....err, pot, kettle? it is exactly that what atheists say about us believers. Why do you care so much, we do because we believe, but you don't. It must really bother you a lot otherwise you wouldn't take the time to argue. It's not an intense need for us to believe, rather an intense need for you to tell us why we shouldn't.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:19

I meant what believers say about atheists.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:20

Sorry Hak can't find where it says they're fake.

propelusagain · 14/05/2015 18:21

rose it's strange you use that description of someone who believes in God because that is always how I see atheists, cast adrift on a stormy sea with no land for miles around.

But you allude to seeing things this way before I mentioned it.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:22

Propel no I havent, have you?

Hakluyt · 14/05/2015 18:24

"Sorry Hak can't find where it says they're fake."

Which do you mean?

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:25

Propel your post at 17.44, was before mine when you mentioned a rat in a leaky lifeboat.

Mengog · 14/05/2015 18:26

Rose, I will spend eternity the same way I spent the previous 8 billion years of history. Think back to 4 billion years ago...you can't as you didn't exist in your current form and in my opinion you won't again. Nothing to be worried about.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:26

All of them apart from the psychic one.

Roseforarose · 14/05/2015 18:29

Yes that was before you were created Mengog,..the thought of eternal nothingness is more worrying.
