My friend, is nice but shes lazy, and her place is fithly. I saw her today at lunch time, food from Tuesdays main meal still left out, she appears to have no fruit, and the main offender is there is bloodly ash (from her cigarettes) laying about.

Her floor is always dirty, littered with empty fruit shoot bottles and bits of food.

I know she is having a new bathroom fitted right now, and I'm not a perfect keeping upto date with my cleaning, but each room gets cleaned once a week.

AIBU?
Can I say I don't like coming around to hers cause it's always dirty?

Why is it dirty?

Is she depressed?
Disabled?
Dyslexic? - Believe it or not dyslexics can be very disorganised and untidy

LineRunner · 16/04/2015 18:29

Yes, you can say that.

And the friendship will take its course.

RJnomore · 16/04/2015 18:30

What's a lack of fruit got to do with how clean a house is?

LuisSuarezTeeth · 16/04/2015 18:30

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Ha

LuisSuarezTeeth · 16/04/2015 18:31

NO FRUIT Shock

FenellaFellorick · 16/04/2015 18:32

no fruit? what's that got to do with anything?

but yes, if you want to say that you don't want to go to her house any more because it's dirty and she doesn't appear to have any fruit, then you are perfectly free to do so. You aren't obliged to go to anyone's house if you don't want to.

Branleuse · 16/04/2015 18:33

No fruit at all??? Not even a kumquat? A Pomegrante?

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 16/04/2015 18:33

My friends come round to see me, not to give a damn about how tidy my house is.

Something about your post makes me think I wouldn't want to come round to your house no matter by how tidy it is.

tshirtsuntan · 16/04/2015 18:33

Maybe the fruit shoots take the place of fruit? Grin

MsAspreyDiamonds · 16/04/2015 18:34

Just casually mention that food left out might attract mice so it would be prudent to dispose asap. Bottles, paper etc left out isn't too much of an issue but food left out is a pest issue. If she doesn't act on your advice then leave it.

Evilwater · 16/04/2015 18:34

Yes, I said lets meet at hers for lunch. She expected me to feed her...... In the end she had crackers and fake cheese.

letsgotothebeach · 16/04/2015 18:34

I am sure you could find some old apple cores or banana skins under the sofa?

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 16/04/2015 18:35

No fruit and fake cheese - the end is nigh!

TrulyTurtles · 16/04/2015 18:36

But it says fruit shoots are one of your five a day.
As are Biscuit s.

Evilwater · 16/04/2015 18:36

So I'm being a masive snob, and BVU?

OP posts:
FatAmy · 16/04/2015 18:36

FenellaFellorick · 16/04/2015 18:36

a terry's chocolate orange is 2

Branleuse · 16/04/2015 18:36

any special reason you asked to meet at hers?

Evilwater · 16/04/2015 18:38

She really wanted to catch up, and I've not seen her since before easter.

OP posts:
FenellaFellorick · 16/04/2015 18:38

yes you are being a snob because of the no fruit and the fruit shoots and all that but no you are not being unreasonable re the dirty because it really is not nice to be in a filthy (and I'm taking it at face value that it is filthy) house. It's really not.

QueenFuri · 16/04/2015 18:38

Phew so because I have fruit that nobody bloody eats it's OK my flat is a shit tip? Hmm.

Fake cheese is the stuff that comes out of a tube.

OP posts:
Branleuse · 16/04/2015 18:42

i didnt mean any special reason you wanted to see her. Just any special reason you wanted to go to hers, since you say her house is always a tip?

WaitingForMe · 16/04/2015 18:42

I don't think OP is being unreasonable but then I've made my peace with being a snob by Mumsnet's standards.
