It's a 'mistake' to rape someone? A mistake is to wrongly address a letter, or put too much salt in a recipe. To rape a young woman can't possibly have been an error surely? As in, "Ooops! I seem to have accidentally raped you. Sorry!"

The only way I can understand this at all is if "they" still don't know what he actually did. A "mistake", MAYBE, to have slept with a drunken woman who set out to end up in a footballer's bed but that is so far away from what actually happened.

I am not a betting woman, but if I were I would put a bet on Ched Evan's conviction being overturned at this 'accelerated' Appeal .I don't agree with that, but I have the feeling that is what is going to happen

Why do you think the conviction will be overturned? As I understand it that can only happen if the evidence at the original trial turns out to be flawed.

Just really that he seems to have a lot of support, and that he has got an appeal date so soon, when , in the normal way of things it would not be til 2017

He has to have grounds to appeal though, he can't just appeal on the basis he does not like the verdict, or that he has a lot of support. The appeals process should not take account of public opinion either way, it should be based on the law. He has had one appeal turned down. What has changed since then?

He's been refused leave to appeal twice hasn't he? Could be wrong there. The current process is to decide finally whether he is allowed to appeal or not. So the idea that he has an appeal case pending is incorrect - he is waiting to find out whether he is allowed to appeal. Unless things have changed but I'd have thought the outcome of the current process would be in the news and I haven't seen anything.

Am I right in thinking that to be granted leave to appeal, you need to demonstrate either a technical legal issue that needs to be resolved, or new evidence that could not have been brought to the original trial. What you can't do is keep going back and presenting the same evidence in slightly different ways, in the hope of a different verdict.

Hartlepool FC is league 2 (or division 4 in oldspeak). Which I think tends to show that the idea there woukd be decent clubs queuing up to sign a convicted rapist was very much misplaced.

That might make a manager with a murky past (Moore was sacked froma a previous club for breach of FA betting rules) interested in buying anyone who might score a few goals.

I think that's right aunty they need to have new evidence etc you can't just appeal on the same bunch of stuff.

And, according to the BBC website, Moore was only named Hartlepool manager 4 days ago.

I wonder how long he'll last there? They've been through quite a few managers recently, and this now looks like another duff choice.
