Shrieking, arm flapping and mincing.

What am I missing? I'm sure she's a lovely woman but good lawd I cannot see the appeal.

Cloudbusting is such a stunning song, also love WOW & Womans Work, amongst many of her amazing songs. She was a talented writer & performer, you can see the passion for her music inside her. WOW, wish I could have seen her in concert. everyone entitled to their own opinions & tastes though. I love many kinds of music :)

Maisyblue · 27/08/2014 21:03

I liked Wuthering Heights but I thought Running up that hill was unbelievably bad.

MulberryPeony · 27/08/2014 21:06

I can't stand her music YANBU

ginzillas · 27/08/2014 21:51

'This woman's work' makes me cry every time. God, I wish I'd got a ticket. Instead, I am babysitting for my Dsis, who did get one Envy.

Mmeh · 27/08/2014 22:01

Yabu. I'm off to see her end of next week and am practically leaking with excitement! I got into her when I was 15 and her songs were the soundtrack to my school days

Floisme · 27/08/2014 22:05

I'm the same, ginzillas, This Woman's Work just turns on a tap in my head.

ElephantGoesToot · 27/08/2014 22:22

Her concerts would not have sold out in 15 minutes if she was rubbish.

This argument makes no sense to me - something being popular doesn't make it good.

amert · 27/08/2014 23:02

I do actually like Kate Bush (some of 'em anyway), but I don't care for all the 'she's so profound, deep, am-dram' etc It is very theatrical, granted. If you like that sort of thing.

I do not like Peter Gabriel, however. Certainly not.

amert · 27/08/2014 23:09

I hope that's not random. I'm sure somebody mentioned Peter Gabriel and paired him with liking Kate Bush Blush

ArsenicyOldFace · 27/08/2014 23:11

Yes amert. They are the two artistes the intelligent people like. Apparently.

morethanpotatoprints · 27/08/2014 23:17

She is not to my taste but she is an amazing talented woman and her achievements from a very early age shouldn't be under estimated.
She was the first woman to have a number one hit with a song she wrote herself and I defy anybody to say they don't like "The man with a child in his eyes", which she wrote at 15, yes bloody 15.
Amazing talent, beautiful woman.

fatlazymummy · 27/08/2014 23:27

You're entitled to your opinions OP.
Personally I love her, I'm not bothered if other people do or not.

HauntedNoddyCar · 27/08/2014 23:46

Since you ask...

Yanbu. She was basically soft porn for all the teenage boys who are now 40+ men. Every bloke I ever went out with had a thing for KB with her pouty arm waving in a diaphanous dress. The lyrics sounded like the ramblings of a load of Eng Lit students on a drama away day and to say her political awareness was unusual when 2 Tone was at its height is ridiculous. She's rambling about Heathcliffe whilst Too Much Too Young is around

IPityThePontipines · 27/08/2014 23:47

I do like Kate Bush, but I think even if I didn't, I'd be glad she exists. It is still sadly rare for a woman to have so much control over her career and still have mainstream success.

@iK8 charmed to meet you, too

Onedropoflove · 28/08/2014 02:24

Anyone who thinks she 's screechy pore a large glass of red and listen to You're the Only One I Want. I defy you not to be moved.

BoredPanda · 28/08/2014 02:33

I don't like her. I kind of get why other people might like her, but I really, really don't.

BeckyBusto · 28/08/2014 02:57

Kate Bush makes terrible noises.

AuldAlliance · 28/08/2014 07:31

Irrelevant, I know, but I just watched This Woman's Work on youtube and had to giggle as the man in it is Percy/Lord Darling from Blackadder.

P.S. I like KB, mostly.

Sicaq · 28/08/2014 07:47

I don't like her music either. In fact she once rapidly emptied a party I was at when someone put one of her CDs on.

Greyhound · 28/08/2014 08:09

Have reported Josh...

ginzillas · 28/08/2014 08:25

Auld Alliance agree that the appearance of Lord Darling in the 'This Woman's Work' video diminishes the emotion somewhat!

ginzillas · 28/08/2014 08:30

Josh, the reason people are getting irate by your request on this thread is that MNHQ ask journalists to contact them through the proper channels - ie the press office, who charge a £30 fee for you to put a request out to mumsnet users. Otherwise, there would be journos popping up on every thread and it could make a lot of users feel uneasy. Fair's fair, play by the rules please!
