Don't know what it is about her. That advert for her new programme makes me feel stabby. I know ia probably bu...

The O is because she merged her name with her husbands rather than keep maiden name/take his.

That advert is all kinds of stabby, the hair is like a wig and she comes across as very sensationalist in her 'documentaries'.

Cherry Healy is in the same vein and is a little annoying but has a redeeming likeability.

Plus the advert for the arse wipes was a new low!

PeppermintInfusion · 25/06/2014 11:56

The books aren't too bad for young adult, I've read them myself

She's very twee but generally she just bypasses my radar. DP did say her hair looked like she's wearing a brown crash helmet which I thought was funny.

olaflikeswarmhugs · 25/06/2014 12:26

What's the advert about the arse wipes ? Grin

Nancy66 · 25/06/2014 12:30

she did an ad for moist toilet wipes where she sent people off to have a shit and then report back

passmethewineplease · 25/06/2014 12:32

Not nearly as much as her hair annoys me.

Lottapianos · 25/06/2014 12:35

I don't mind her, she seems like a nice person. She gets very irritated at being asked in interviews about whether she wants babies because she says that no man gets asked that ever, so she deserves a massive high five for that.

I do find her last name irritating though. Very disappointed in Victoria Coren too. Keep your own names people - your husbands did!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 25/06/2014 12:39

It must be awful to be a television presenter. There are so many of them chasing too few jobs, they all seem a bit desperate. Would you go "blonde generic". Would you go "quirky". Just how far would you go to get your sad little moment in the spotlight? Would you do 60 MinuteMakeover for instance? How much are these people paid? Would they not be better off getting a proper job?

I have no idea who Cherry Healey is.

StoneTheFlamingCrows · 25/06/2014 12:42

I don't hate her, she is just irritating. There is a difference.

Don't mind Claudia winkle man or Cherie Healy. Each to their own I guess.

I like her. Although I confess to being a bit jealous really. Her life seems quite charmed from the outside (though I know she lost her mum which of course is awful)

Funny/nice hollywood husband - check
Book deal - check
TV programmes - check
Fashion label - check
Fancy hollywood nights out due to husband (oscars/baftas etc) -check.

My husband is an accountant, I don't get to go anywhere cool Envy

TiredCassandrasbed · 25/06/2014 12:44

I quite like Dawn, Chris and Cherry too.

SuperFlyHigh · 25/06/2014 12:44

I saw an article on her vintage TV programme.

C'mon love your buys that are vintage aren't THAT GREAT (I know because I vintage shop a lot too!). Because you can spot and afford a Courreges dress for a bargain price then bully for you.

She doesn't annoy me at all - but it's like she's the new expert on vintage.

I can see her going the way of La Klass (sorry Myleene) who is, god only knows a right mind boggling pain in the backside. I hate to say it but when La Klass had marriage or whatever problems with her first husband (only) I was secretly sniggering (not pleased).

StoneTheFlamingCrows · 25/06/2014 12:45

And in reference to her breasts, I remember now it was about bc, but the lingering memory of it was of her stood in front of the mirror clutching them lots, so the important message was obviously lost somehow.

squoosh · 25/06/2014 12:46

I find TV presenters in general annoying. I see them as the person who introduces the interesting bits without being interesting themselves and hate when a show becomes about them.

squoosh · 25/06/2014 12:47

She made a 'documentary' about the size zero craze, it basically involved her going on a crash diet to see if she could fit into a particular dress. Fascinating.

JackieBrambles · 25/06/2014 12:52

Yeah her documentaries are a bit 'fluff' really. Like Cherry Healy's. About 15 minutes worth of interesting stuff in an hour slot!

WhyIRayLiotta · 25/06/2014 13:11

I like her. She seems fun, I didn't hate her docs - but took them to be fluff and aimed at teenagers. Her young adult books have been well received. (I've not read them!)

I also like Chris O'Dowd... And they do seem a genuine couple. Although I do recall a cringeworthy tweet he sent her (publicly) saying he had landed at Heathrow 'so get your fanny out love' Shock

PeppermintInfusion · 25/06/2014 13:28

He also tweeted a pic of her on their wedding night in her bridal lingerie

Lottapianos · 25/06/2014 13:39

Oh I remember seeing that Peppermint! And it was captioned 'Look what I got!!!!' Shock Yuck. Between that and the Heathrow tweet, he sounds a bit grim really.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 25/06/2014 13:44

Oh that's grim.

Crinkle77 · 25/06/2014 13:54

I quite like her. I particularly loved the documentary she did about Dirty Dancing.

123Jump · 25/06/2014 14:09

Her hair looks ridiculous. But I think she likes that. I think she wants us all to believe that she is a bit crazy, kooky and ya know, different.
But she just comes across as irritating and try hard to me.
The 'O' addition to her name is exactly the kind of thing I mean. She thinks she is being so clever and just turning our crazy, traditional society on its head, man, woo!!
But it isn't funny, or clever. It is stupid.

But hating Victoria because she became Mitchel?! If that is her only crime I can live with that.

Lottapianos · 25/06/2014 14:11

'But hating Victoria because she became Mitchel?! '

I certainly don't hate her, I think she's very funny and clever and pretty but I was a bit disappointed that she became Coren Mitchell instead of just leaving her own name alone.

DoJo · 25/06/2014 15:51

Whenever someone posts on here about changing their name on marriage and can't decide what they want to do, the overriding advice is 'do whatever you want - change it, don't change it, choose a new one together if you like, but don't do something just because someone else has an opinion on it'.

But when someone actually does that she is vilified and it's apparently 'inane' 'a joke' 'ridiculous' 'daft' 'irritating' 'stupid' 'ridiculous' and 'embarrassing' as though any of us have ANY right to comment on her choice. She is a successful woman who has never (to my knowledge, although I'm not an expert in her career or anything) expressed any particularly objectionable views, done anything hateful or behaved inappropriately so why should she not be afforded the same choices that we all are? And quite honestly, even if she was a nazi who ate children, who the fuck is anyone on here to decide what she should have done with her name on marriage?
