Here we go! Thread five! Thread four filled in one month!

Here is a link to thread four & you can work back from there.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2017939-Nest-of-Vapers-we-continue-to-not-BU-to-carry-on-vaping?pg=1

We are all always happy to answer any question. No question is too daft or unreasonable! We all know what a minefield of terminology it is when you first take up vaping.

Here is Allergic's great summary for anyone who is starting vaping:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

Shonajoy · 10/04/2014 20:29

Oh god everything's going wrong now the clearomiser it's empty but can't fill it the top bit doesn't seem to some off?! I'm so gonna have to,order ne form amazon I can't do a day without as I'm very addicted x

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 10/04/2014 20:36

Shona, is it the pink one in the picture you posted? If so, that's an evod and you refill it from the bottom.

ginmakesitallok · 10/04/2014 21:25

Shona, how on earth did you fill it from the top first time mind boggles

QueenStromba · 10/04/2014 21:54

Shona - is the little plasticky top that goes on top of the atomiser on properly with the iclear 30 (the clearo that came with the MVP)? If that's loose or missing then it would cause liquid to leak out the top and the bottom even if you haven't over filled it.

QueenStromba · 10/04/2014 21:55

Sorry, that wasn't very clear. I'm talking about the bit at the top of this picture.

Hundreds of vipers vaping in our fifth thread!!
agnesgrey · 10/04/2014 22:26

I can see that lots of people are really enthusiastic about vaping with different flavours etc but I have a much more basic question.

I currently smoke 20 Marlboro Light a day more on a bad day .
As a step to giving up I'd like to try e-cigerettes. Can anyone recommend one which would be most similar to a Marlboro Light? I can see this might be just perpetuating the smoking but I really do just want to take this quite gently , so can anyone give me any advice ? I'm orking on the basis any step is better than none.

Thank you

ginmakesitallok · 10/04/2014 22:59

I used to smoke 20 - 30 m lights per day. I started off using USA red juice, but to be honest no e liquid really tastes of tobacco. I started on a cigalike, but within 2 days had ordered a spinner battery and an evod. I'd never gone a day without smoking in over 20 years, even while pregnant. I bought my first cigalike, smoked the last cig in the packet and haven't had one since. It's been about 10 months now.

If you are thinking about it, just go for it ¡

FlockOfTwats · 10/04/2014 23:38

Been absent for a bit. Shitty couple of weeks. Hope everyone is ok.

Got a little evod2 today :D Cracking little tank! Orders a couple of iclear16B tanks too can't wait for them to arrive :D

Loving T juice and liberty flights at the moment for liquid, could get expensive haha.

FlockOfTwats · 10/04/2014 23:46

Shona The pink clearo you posted is an evod. you unscrew the bottom and fill it that way!

The clearo that came with your MVP is an iclear 30. I really get on with them, But my other half hates them. He also hates anything by kangertech whereas i quite like my kangertech stuff. Different people just get on with different things.

The main with with any iclear tanks though is that everything has to be on perfectly, if its screwed on wonky or the little siliconey bit on the top of the atty isnt right it will leak - I had a big leaking issue with one of mine for these reasons so they can be a pain the backside for that.

Don't worry about your MVP - It won't break honestly haha. I have one, and out of all of ours (Ego, ego twist, iclear 134, itaste vv v3 and vamo v5) it's by far my favourite and i've not found one i'd buy over the mvp2 yet either. It's a cracking piece of equipment IMO.

agnesgrey · 10/04/2014 23:54

Thanks gin!
I might just get one from the supermarket to get me going then do some proper research on the other options . This a whole new and complex world to me

Shonajoy · 11/04/2014 01:07

Oh dead I am a diddy! Thankyou for all your advice the white thing on the MVP is on fine and I've found my ecig from ecig wizard so will sort myself out in the morning. Do I get a prize for being dafters poster ever? Xx

Dwerf · 11/04/2014 10:20

Oh, I dunno Shona , during the wee hours of this morning I attempted to fill my clearo by unscrewing it from the battery, taking the mouth-tip off and then turning it upsidedown and squirting juice on where the battery connects. I'm a dumbass.

LostInWales · 11/04/2014 10:54

Four weeks since I last smoked, I went to the beach with the dogs like I do every day and was amazed at how beachy it smelled Grin can't believe how much of the lovely day to day smells I was missing.

Can someone tell me the best mid range set up to use I have this set up from Pure Vape but I haven't quite got it right yet, seem to end up bubbling and constantly cleaning, is it me or could I be using better kit?

FlockOfTwats · 11/04/2014 14:16

Lost

I'd go for an innokin.

I have An itaste vv v3 which is a nice little set up if you want one of a similar size and build - It's only 800 mah so if you don't spend much time next to a plug you might want a spare battery (They sell spares for £20) but you can use it while it charges.

If you fancy a bigger mod you can't go wrong with an MVP2 The battery life is huge. It lasts for days even if you are a heavy vaper.

Both of those kits come with iClear 16 clearos which are like ce4s but dual coil You fill them exactly the same way. I've never cleaned one. I just replace the attomiser heads every so often which can be found here

For a few extra quid the MVP2 energy line is the same MVP2 as above, but comes with an iClear 16B tank, which is bottom filling. I have literally just got a 16B and filled it up and having a vape and it's a lovely little tank. Again replacement heads can be found here

LostInWales · 11/04/2014 14:57

Ooh thanks FoT, I look forward to pouring over those links later. Such a joy to find clever shiny gadgety things to be spending my newly spare cash on Grin.

CandidFrankie · 11/04/2014 15:22

Hello all. Few vaping probs and am currently in a panic as dont have a single cartomiser that works in the house.

I've been using VIP cartmoisers for about 6 weeks (previously was on E-lite e-cigs, but a vaping convert now Grin)

My problem is that my batteries arent charging. I have two - a new one and one thats 4 weeks old - and two chargers. None of them are actually charging. This has happened in thr last 48 hours. Have tried everything I can think of, but no joy. They cant both be duds can they? The previous one I had from VIP was going beautifully at 5 weeks but I accidentally sat on it and broke it.

Help?

Raia · 11/04/2014 15:43

Hello all! Another vaping newbie here - been off the fags for just over 3 weeks now. Never thought I'd see the day (smoked for 30+ years). Anyway, I started out with a standard Kanger Evod starter kit and I'm finding it a pain to keep charging the batteries all the time (I've got two 650MaHs and a 1000MaH). I find the battery runs down very quickly as I'm vaping fairly heavily at the moment, and as it runs down I'm not getting a decent hit from it. It's like smoking a silk cut Confused

I'm looking for recommendations for an upgrade: thinking about the iTaste MVP. All the terminology/types of clearomisers etc is bewildering so any guidance would really be appreciated! I don't really want to spend more than £50 as I've already blown a fortune on liquids (btw I've got a bunch of Alchemist's Cupboard liquids that I really don't like if anyone is interested ...!)

Raia · 11/04/2014 15:46

Forgot to add, also thinking of a Vamo V5. Is there a significant advantage in having one with the separate batteries over the MVP type?

ginmakesitallok · 11/04/2014 15:52

Candid, you'll need to get yourself some decent batteries, the cigalike ones are rubbish.

ginmakesitallok · 11/04/2014 15:57

I love my mvp2. I didn't want a vamo because of the cost, reading horror stories about batteries and its too big!

Shonajoy · 11/04/2014 16:31

Well I hate hate hate my mvp2. I changed the liquid because I didn't like it and low I've lost the bloody top bit you suck on. Thrn I filled my pink standby emergency clearo thingy from the bottom and got a mouthful of nicotine liquid. So I've got an e4 or something charging and vodka in the fridge along with some more vodka. And some vodka also. So I seem to have bought a really good piece of equipment that I've buggered up oh and there were no floaty straw things in the pink clearo thingy?! I WANT TO HIT SOMEONE!!!! AND DRINK VODKA!x
