Here we go! Thread five! Thread four filled in one month!

Here is a link to thread four & you can work back from there.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2017939-Nest-of-Vapers-we-continue-to-not-BU-to-carry-on-vaping?pg=1

We are all always happy to answer any question. No question is too daft or unreasonable! We all know what a minefield of terminology it is when you first take up vaping.

Here is Allergic's great summary for anyone who is starting vaping:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

If you're on a tight budget you could do a lot worse than this kit from Paradise Vape, don't forget you'll need 2 batteries though. You might just want to order 2 x that kit - the clearos are iclear 16's which are pretty decent. If you have a bit more to spend, have a look at MyePack, the evod starter kits on that page have evrything you need for a few months except liquids and they also sell a good range of higher end stuff at very reasonable prices.

What went wrong last time? Don't be afraid to try higher nicotine liquid than you were using before, if you think you need to. I get mine from Premier Ecigs and Joose Juice (link to follow, tablet being a git).

magi I read your title as "filth" thread!

Had to come and see if you've found a juice containing something more interesting than nicotine?

Nursey I fall off the bandwagon on a weekly basis, it's definitely linked to my mental health. Whenever I buy fags, I finish the packet and then go back to vaping. No beating myself up, just back on the wagon. Saturday I bought a pack, finished them sunday, back to vaping.

Butterscotch is quite lovely btw.

TrickyBiscuits · 08/04/2014 23:45

Hello everyone, I'm very new to vaping and I haven't joined these threads before but I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice....?

I started vaping through a kit I bought from Vapeescape but I found I got bad headaches etc from the liquid I bought at the same time, it made me generally feel quite unwell.

When i thought that I'd broken that vaporiser (I hadn't, I just didn't know how to turn it back on Blush) I bought a vaporiser + eliquid from Socialites (the one that's in lots of shopping centre aisle concessions) and it was much better, despite a bit of a cough, so I assumed that I must be a bit sensitve to PG and the Socialites liquid must be lower than Vapeescape in PG.

However, when I come to order more eliquid online, I've found that the 2 are exactly the same proportions (70 PG, 30 VG) so why do I have such different reactions to the two? Am I missing something obvious?!

Thanks very much- I'm determined to quit smoking but I'm very confused about what I should order Confused

Allergictoironing · 09/04/2014 06:57

Tricky stupid question I know but are you sure they were the same nicotine level? If you'd been vaping cigalikes or fluid from a retailer that didn't have a good reputation I would have put it down to that, but Vape Escape do good fluids.

Allergictoironing · 09/04/2014 06:59

Bother hit post too early! What I meant to add was that different companies class different nicotine levels as high, medium & low. Most seem to class 18mg as medium with 24 as high, but others class 18mg as high or even around 16mg.

Has anyone used the kanger t3s? Im using one with an ego battery and it keeps leaking into the battery every so often? Its really weird. Ive replaced the tank and the atomiser heads several times but every so often it just randomly leaks. What I find so strange about it is that DP uses exactly the same set up and always has, but his never ever leaks. Hes convinced its something im doing wrong but I have no idea what it is! The most recent thing he suggested was that I screw the battery on too tight so on sunday I changed the tank and atomiser and made sure to keep the battery screwed on quite loosely. I thought I had finally found the cause of the problem because I had no leaking at all until this morning when I woke up and found loads of liquid in the battery again. Its most confusing

magimedi · 09/04/2014 09:32

Bewitched I am still vaping tobacco flavour - I've tried quite a few others & really don't like them as they are all so sweet. I don't eat sugar (unless fermented) so I am the oddity here who has used the same juice for 18 months!

unicorn I can't help you, but am sure someone will be along soon. You could try some of the dedicated vaping forums, like UK vapers.

QueenStromba · 09/04/2014 09:59

Unicorn - check that the atomiser is screwed in tightly. Plenty will be better at advising than me though since she uses GS-H2s which are a similar design.

Cantabile · 09/04/2014 15:51

Unicorn, I haven't used a Kanger t3 but I've found www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/373368-fixing-leaky-kanger-t3.html this thread on a vape forum, which includes a video about how to fix t3s.

An interesting email has gone round work today. My organisation is preparing a statement on e-cigs and have asked our regional reps to collate feedback on the pro's and con's of treating it the same way as the smoking ban.

How should I reply?

To be honest I can't see it working in my favour. Nearly everyone in Scotland is a non smoker, only about 5 people smoke out of about 50 employees and I think I'm the only vaper.

Cantabile · 09/04/2014 17:21

I would say something about it encouraging people to give up fags and for that reason it is worth encouraging without draconian restrictions. There would be little point in anyone considering switching if they were subject to the same restrictions as for smoking. Strike a blow for public health and that stuff! It is fast becoming the most popular means of giving up cigarettes.

PlumPansy · 09/04/2014 18:08

Went to my local vape shop today and bought a spare battery and atomizer, also got watermelon liquid which is really nice better than the tobacco flavour! Got it in 24mg so still has a kick to it.

Im really pleased I decided to try vaping not missing the fags at all Smile

MaggieMcGill · 09/04/2014 18:10

I'd love to be able to share the paper with you all. Intrestingly they have sought advice from similar organisations and shown us the comments they received. Some pro and some against.

ginmakesitallok · 09/04/2014 18:45

Nearly everyone in Scotland is a nonsmoker Maggie???? Take it you don't work in public health! Although smoking rates are going down they are still as high as 40% in some areas.

I am totally biased and can't see our don't agree with the arguments to treat vaping like smoking. Cons, forcing people who have stopped smoking to socialise with smokers, with all the dangers of passive smoking. Not understanding that vaping is not smoking, doesn't have the same health risks and is potentially the biggest public health break through of the century.

ginmakesitallok · 09/04/2014 18:46

smoking rates here

unicornpoop · 09/04/2014 19:05

canta thanks so much for that Thanks

That video was really helpful, now I know exactly how they work im going to take it all to bits to sort it out Grin

MaggieMcGill · 09/04/2014 19:21

Haha! Gin I could have written that better that's why I'm asking for help here What I meant was our organisation is UK wide, We have about 50 employees working in Scotland, I swear only a few smoke. We get together a lot so I'm not making it up. I don't know what the ratio is (smoking/vaping/non smokers)in other parts of the Uk in our organisation but I'm guessing they have more people vaping since the issue has been raised.

ginmakesitallok · 09/04/2014 19:39

I think you should put something about how as a responsible employer your organisation has a responsibility to support employees who are attempting to stop smoking. Smokers have higher rates of respiratory illnesses, so they potentially have higher sickness absence rates. ( no evidence at all to support that, but then all the anti vaping rubbish has no evidence to support it either) All the evidence to date shows no harm associated with second hand vaping . ASH do not think that ecigs should be included in smoking bans.

MaggieMcGill · 09/04/2014 19:40

I did reply to our rep before I left today highlighting what has already been mentioned above but I think It became a bit ranty near the end. I said I'd get back to her if I could think of anything else. This is why I'd appreciate your views, just incase I missed anything out Grin
