Hundreds of vipers vaping in our fifth thread!!

Here we go! Thread five! Thread four filled in one month!

Here is a link to thread four & you can work back from there.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2017939-Nest-of-Vapers-we-continue-to-not-BU-to-carry-on-vaping?pg=1

We are all always happy to answer any question. No question is too daft or unreasonable! We all know what a minefield of terminology it is when you first take up vaping.

Here is Allergic's great summary for anyone who is starting vaping:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

Another clearo recommendation, pineapple juice from joose juice shattered an old clearo of mine so they sent me a vape only ets bottom coil clearo as a replacement . I've only seen them on vapeescape here. I've used them ever since, never had any leaking or gurgling, great flavour. Only downside is that you can't recoil the heads, but they last for ages- I get a couple of weeks out of each one.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 15/04/2014 22:12

Not sure Maggie, a few hours. You can use it as a passthrough while it's charging though.

Well done everyone staying off the fags Flowers you're all doing brilliantly!

Cantabile · 15/04/2014 22:27

I really have to keep away from this thread - I have capitulated and bought an MVP! This is not my fault, it was a shopping accident as a result of reading so many people's happiness with theirs! The same thing happened with the rainbow spinner.

If we had our own topic, then I could hide the whole lot can't see me doing that in a hurry Grin

Shonajay · 16/04/2014 04:40

Yes I imagine it would be harder if you has to roll a cigarette, part of the ritual so to speak. I just used to grab one and light.

Has anyone else had negativity re e

  • cigs? My BIL nearly wore his bacon and egg sandwich after saying that it wasn't really stopping, it was just kidding on. And that was before I'd had a puff of my e cig. Brave or stupid man.
Allergictoironing · 16/04/2014 06:13

Shona in the early days of these threads there was someone posting exactly that. Strangely they were by someone who was a vaper themselves (or at least they said they were)!

FlockOfTwats · 16/04/2014 08:51

Shona Yeah, i tend to laugh at them. My favourites have included;

The woman who was clutching at straws and resorted to trying to tell me 'medical nicotine' is specially filtered.

The various people who have stood there smoking a cigarette preaching how bad e cigs are, And the man who told OH e cigs are bad while smoking and seemingly on heroin.

OH has just chimed in - Someone at work told him, while smoking a cigarette, that e cigs make your breath smell bad.

The people who generally preach from the daily fail.

MaggieMcGill · 16/04/2014 11:30

Joose Juice have sent me another package recorded delivery so it should be here tomorrow. You really can't beat that for great customer service Grin

Shonajay · 16/04/2014 11:33

Tits. Jealousy can't cause they can do it. Well I've replaced my silver MVP2.
2 with a black one, read the manual- and I'm in heaven I tells ya, heaven! Got refreshers and bubblegum and order another fifty quids worth of liquid yesterday.

I have recently had a small unexpected ppi credit card refund, and can't think of anything better to spend it on. I LOVE not smelling, and this is a lifetime investment. Also, I'm giving myself NO get outs. I have an ecig spare that I love and a couple of cheapies for emergencies. You have NO idea how welcome and helpful you have all been - I was diagnosed with cervical cancer three years ago,and I do t want lung cancer. The support here is so brilliant, even when I am slow, or just v
Being daft. Cervical cancer has been linked to smoking, but obviously not having a cervix I'm ok, as long as in the next two years it doesn't come back, and this is a huge part of it. I really appreciate ALL your help and I mean it. Xxx

DialsMavis · 16/04/2014 12:22

Hi. Everyone, inspired by your theads. I decided to give vaping a try and ive buggered it up already!a friend gave me a one try and i appear to have filled it up wrongly, i put the juice down the hole in the middle and it burns my mouth and throat. Can i clean it? TIA

ginmakesitallok · 16/04/2014 12:40

Mavis, just stick the corner of a bit of tissue down the centre hole to clean it, we've all been there!

Raia · 16/04/2014 12:49

I did that the first time I filled my tank as well DialsMavis Confused

What sort of ecig are you using?

Shona, I'm so sorry to hear about what you've been through with the cervical cancer - but very happy to hear you've made a good recovery! Where did you get the Refreshers liquid from? I bloody love Refreshers.

I got a delivery from Darkstar this morning. They added a free extra bottle of lime Grin The lime liquid smells lovely although it's quite a mild (but pleasant) vape. Strawberry smells just like chewits. Peach Melba smells gorgeous but haven't tried vaping it yet. These probably need to steep a while don't they?

Experienced vapers: how long did it take you to find a liquid you loved enough to buy more than 10ml of it?

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/04/2014 12:51

I had a woman come u to DP and I last week, asked how we were getting on with them and then started preaching! Asked if we knew what was in it, I then started listing the ingredients and she butted in all "naw let me finish whit am sayin" went on to talk about how she tried it in Blackpool and was rushed to hospital with nicotine overdose. Hmm

She was smoking a stinky too!

DialsMavis · 16/04/2014 14:28

Phew! Thanks. Its massive and silver and in a sunglasses type case with eGo written on it.

DialsMavis · 16/04/2014 14:33

It says Anyvape Go-c upgrade on the side, Ive given it a clean, but it is still a bit burny g

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/04/2014 15:20

Hello sexy shiny pink MVP 2.0 and Iclear 30, my new best friends!

Shonajay · 16/04/2014 15:46

I ordered another one because I'm daft.it works brilliantly. Am a happy happy bunny.

Hundreds of vipers vaping in our fifth thread!!
Shonajay · 16/04/2014 16:41

I'm sitting here thinking, odd and unusual I know, but can't help thinking the ones that light up at the end are too like a real cigarette. My friend works in a bar- vaping allowed but she says its really hard as she has to keep checking so they're thinking of just banning them all, or sending capers to the smoking area. What are your thoughts. I'm stroking my MVP2 x

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/04/2014 16:55

Will get a pic of my shiny bugger when I get home.

i went to the 02 academy for a gig the other week, vaping allowed but the ones that glow orange or red are not allowed.

magimedi · 16/04/2014 17:10

When I started with my cig look alike it used to freak OH out when I just put it down on the table. Made him even more worried when I touched the lit end to my cheek! Grin

Have just found refresher liquid on Vape Escape and have had a shopping accident...

QueenStromba · 16/04/2014 17:16

These days you can tell if someone's smoking inside Shona. Even when I was still a smoker I'd have smelled it a mile off.

Shonajay · 16/04/2014 17:26

The other nice thing to do would be to offer unliked flavours, so that those starting on a budget could save a bit of money x

Cantabile · 16/04/2014 17:32

Shona, ime people start with things which look as near to a real fag as they can get and then move on. It would be a shame if all vaping were banned just for the sake of a few who are making themselves (almost) indistinguishable from smokers. The less it looks like actual smoking the better, in the light of so many others' bleating about "normalising smoking". If it doesn't look remotely like a cigarette or pipe or cigar, then that argument becomes silly.

Mavis, do you fill it from the top or the bottom? You may have overfilled it a little, and so got some liquid in the mouthpiece. If you fill it by unscrewing the bottom, it is very easy to get liquid in the central column. Cheap cotton buds or thin pipe cleaners are your friends.... Grin

I have bought a load of cheap clearos for tasting liquids. I have a ridiculous number of flavours which I haven't tried properly yet. A swap shop thread would be great if we do get our own place. I still have liquorice going begging (though by this time, it's definitely steeped and might be nicer (massively unlikely)).

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 16/04/2014 18:18

I bought Swedish fish flavour today, it's in my new Iclear 30 with a wee bit of pineapple and it is lush! I'm already up to 100 odd puffs on the MVP and I only got it at 3pm... Blush

Shonajay · 16/04/2014 18:28

Cantabile that was exactly the point I was making! I totally agree x
