Here we go! Thread five! Thread four filled in one month!

Here is a link to thread four & you can work back from there.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2017939-Nest-of-Vapers-we-continue-to-not-BU-to-carry-on-vaping?pg=1

We are all always happy to answer any question. No question is too daft or unreasonable! We all know what a minefield of terminology it is when you first take up vaping.

Here is Allergic's great summary for anyone who is starting vaping:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

Fluffy The eGo C Twist and the Vision spinner are really easy to use, if he's used to a cig a like, maybe go for the smaller one?

Plenty I literally just ordered an iClear 30 a few minutes ago...

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 14/04/2014 21:29

Ooh, someone's money to spend Grin

I usually point new vapers at one of these kits:

myepack.co.uk/kits/evod-starter-kit-ss.html
This one is bottom coil and the kit has everything you will need for months (except liquid)

www.paradisevapeuk.co.uk/product-p/express.htm
This one is top coil. You will need two of this kit for the two batteries but it's still very good value.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 14/04/2014 21:34

Glad that worked out Polter, it wasn't so much a recommendation as a google. I use the cheap shit myself

Schro, sorry!

Don't be sorry obviously! :) Excited, new shiny stuff to play with!

To be honest, I really don't like the Evod clearos, Me, DP and my Uncle have all tried them (I've had 2) and something constantly seems to be going wrong with it.

We're all using mini protank 2s now, much better and reasonably easy to use.

Dwerf · 14/04/2014 22:20

plenty that IS cheap, have bookmarked, cheers. I can get liquid cheaper in town but equipment wise, that looks right in my price-range. Cheers!

magimedi · 14/04/2014 22:49

Polter - Happy vaping & soon farewell to stinky cigs!

I'm in the huff! The postman has just been and no sign of my shiny new MVP which was dispatched on Sunday and still no sign of my JJ order which was dispatched on Thursday Sad I'm getting twitchy and want my things.

On a brighter note my fastech order is now making it's way to the UK after being in Singapore Post's hands since the 2nd April. Yay!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 15/04/2014 10:53

There's still time Maggie. Round here parcels often seem to come in a different post, even the not signed for ones. Your postie's not a vaper by any chance is he? Grin

Allergictoironing · 15/04/2014 11:04

Damn I love SlowTech's "interesting" systems. Yesterday, it said shipping dates ranging from 16/04 - 22/04 (for all the items in my one order). Today it says ALL are ready to ship. Wonder when it actually will ship.....

Raia · 15/04/2014 11:15

Hope your MVP arrives in a separate delivery Maggie, I was on postie-watch yesterday waiting for my MVP so I know what you're going through Grin

Postie delivered the goods this morning, squeee! One MVP 2 from myepack (they are great) and a couple of bottles of Hangsen juice from another supplier (mandarin is like vaping shower gel, spearmint is pretty good though).

First impressions of the MVP 2 with the iclear 30:

  • much more satisfying vape than I was getting from my bog standard Kanger evod kit with the single coil clearos. I was pretty much chain vaping with those and doing that thing of holding down the button and chuffing away on it about ten times to get a hit from it, to the point that DP started showing concern for my welfare Confused
  • much tighter draw, which is imo A Good Thing;
  • seems like a warmer vape (possibly imagining this as my tongue is like an old man's bicycle seat right now, still not tasting much despite upping my water intake and brushing teeth and tongue regularly);
  • love the swivelly drip tip on the clearo;
  • smaller than I expected, fits nicely and feels good in the hand, but also heavier than I expected for its size.

I really don't know what I'm doing with the VV/VW yet. Adjusted the voltage one increment at a time and settled on 4. Then I investigated the wattage and managed to change it to 6. Now don't know wtf the original setting was on the wattage. But anyway, it's vaping well so a big thumbs up from me.

Four weeks off the fags now, woohoo!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 15/04/2014 11:38

Raia Thanks for that wee review, getting very excited waiting on mines now.

Do you feel that juice has more flavour in the Iclear 30? I'm looking forward to built in rotating drip tip as my rotating one is a PITA.

Vaping "blue rush" today, it's like a slightly mentholy blue rockstar juice. Nice. I think Derek would like this one.

MaggieMcGill · 15/04/2014 11:43

WOOHOO! MVP has just arrived, postie found it still lurking in the back of his van and came back with it Grin I want to go home now and play with it.

SoleSource · 15/04/2014 13:21

Four weeks today. No cigarettes.

mixed triple menthol and kickass together, bit better.

FlockOfTwats · 15/04/2014 13:32

Shona That's a 30S :) I have one, i love it. It fits my MVP2 with the beauty ring so i can't see why it wouldn't fit yours - Make sure the coil is screwed in tightly though or it wont connect to the battery :)

magimedi · 15/04/2014 13:46

Sole - That's brilliant!! Well done you!!

I went home at lunchtime to play with my new toy Blush

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 15/04/2014 16:09

hahahaha is it good? Grin

Shonajay · 15/04/2014 17:11

I'm 3 weeks today I think- or maybe it was yesterday. Either way I'm never having a real cigarette again.

Allergictoironing · 15/04/2014 17:24

You mean you don't have it written in your diary, with the weeks marked off Shona? I do Grin - 9 weeks as of 10pm yesterday.

Shonajay · 15/04/2014 18:00

Allergic you're right- and I've just bought a posh new filofax I've been listing after so I will get to it! X

Shonajay · 15/04/2014 18:01

And congratulations good stuff x

Raia · 15/04/2014 18:14

Congrats to everyone for staying fag-free! Vaping makes it so easy though doesn't it? Mind you, sometimes, just for a tiny moment, I forget that I don't smoke any more and get the urge for a roll up. But then I remember and I just have a vape instead :)

FlockOfTwats · 15/04/2014 18:59

It's a year next month since my last fag (Although i stopped 6 weeks before that, i had a slip up). I never thought i'd ever quit smoking tbh and i can't believe how little i miss it. I've not wanted a cig for so long and the thought of having one makes me feel sick.

MaggieMcGill · 15/04/2014 19:37

Well done Flock, a year is brilliant. Actually, well done everyone Wine

Plenty, once I suss out how to work it properly I think I'll like it. It still feels a bit awkward in my hand. It's just good to have another battery, two of mine broke last week so I was down to just two and it was driving me nuts. Just out of interest How long do these take to charge?
