This is now the fourth thread in six months - which must say something about vaping. Thread 3 & links back are here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1985116-AIBU-to-carry-on-evangalising-about-electronic-cigarettes-Part-3?pg=1

For all new vapers I will again copy Allergic's great summary of what all the terms mean - but don't hesitate to ask anything about vaping

We all started from scratch & know what how very confusing it can be.

No question is to daft to ask - it really can be a minefield but it is a route to no more cigarettes! (nearly 18 months in for me!)

Allergic's great summary:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

Yay FastTech order just arrived! One rainbow Ego-C twist on charge, matt red Ego-C twist waiting for the charger to come free. Plus 2 carry cases of different sizes to go in different bags.

Think I'm going to have hours of fun sorting out what I'm going to put in them, then rearranging it a few times Grin

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 21/03/2014 10:34

I'm loving the Ego C twist but my Evod got stuck on it last night, twice and now it doesn't seem to be charging right. It was in all night and charger light was still red this morning. :(

Allergictoironing · 21/03/2014 10:42

Haven't had that problem so far with my Vision spinner which looks identical to the Ego-C twist, though I have noticed that it can be "patchy" charging with one of the chargers & not the other. Though that could be the charger of course.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 21/03/2014 10:51

I will try the other charger. It worked fine before it got stuck.

Perihelion · 21/03/2014 12:15

Am delighted that I can't actually remember if it's 5 or 6 weeks I've not smoked for Grin
Bought new clearomisers yesterday - Kanger t2's and they're fab. Had started off with C4E's which were okay and tried GS h2's ( shite ). Am not bothering to try any new flavours as have settled on Hangsen Ry4 and Toffee caramel.
It seems like all of a sudden there's vapers everywhere. Don't know if I'm just noticing more, but DH has commented too ( and he's still on the baccy )

Perihelion · 21/03/2014 12:17

Oh and this week I swam front crawl continuously for half an hour. As a smoker I always had to have a wee break every couple of lenghts.

QueenStromba · 21/03/2014 12:40

Well done Perihelion. I think I've been vaping for about a year but am not sure on the exact dates!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 21/03/2014 12:47

Well done! I'm 3 weeks tomorrow. A month ago, everyone in my family except my DGM smoked, now no one does! 4 heavy smokers, all quit in the space of a month. Must be quite a shock to my DGM, she thought wr would all never quit.

whatadrama · 21/03/2014 12:51

Can i ask how long everyones Fastech orders are taking.

I ordered 4 weeks ago today and have tracked it online where it says forwarded to GB but nothing since.

I've emailed the company and they said sometimes it takes a long time to get to the destination Hmm

Allergictoironing · 21/03/2014 13:01

Hi whatadrama. Seems to be anything from 2-5 weeks once it's been shipped by Malaysia Post - but mine took nearly 2 weeks for something to come into stock then sat at Malaysia post dispatch for 2-3 days before they shipped it out from there. Check the actual date it was sent to GB, that could have been well after you put your order in?

QueenStromba · 21/03/2014 13:17

The most recent order that I've received took about 4 weeks from postage with Singapore post. They've only just dispatched some innokin coils that I ordered three weeks previously.

whatadrama · 21/03/2014 16:46

Thanks, i feel more reassured now.

They were despatched to GB on the 7th of March so i'll give it another couple of weeks Smile

Ledare · 21/03/2014 18:08

Allergic, congrats on getting your SlowTech order Grin

Please post pics of how you have arranged your cases!

Allergictoironing · 21/03/2014 18:29

Ledare I can't do tech stuff like that Shock! Well I could, but it would mean hassle & you know how much I dislike hassle Wink. I wouldn't be arranging them quite like you do anyway, as the "live" battery with a clearo on would never go in the case, would need it to hand at all times. So currently will just be spare battery, some shit earwigs and a couple of spare (full) clearos in assorted flavours - there are limits in how much you can rearrange that lot, especially as the battery really has to go in the elastic holder.

I notice that the Vision Spinner is mostly blue/green at the bottom, mostly the pink/purple/red type colours in the middle, & mostly orange & yellow at the top. The Ego-C twist, otherwise identical in every way, has the colours in reverse order. Though I'm anal enough to check that no they aren't completely identical even when one is reversed Grin.

I like "Slow Tech" - though it may surprise some that I didn't order from them for their ultra-speedy delivery or high quality customer service the fact they are half the price or less than any UK vendor has nothing to do with anything not at all

QueenStromba · 21/03/2014 18:39

Slow Tech are great as long as your consumables at least a month before you need them :) I ordered 15 iclear 30 coils when I still had 4 left (although I do have 3 iclear 30s).

MaggieMcGill · 21/03/2014 18:45

SlowTech! Love it Grin

QueenStromba · 21/03/2014 18:57

How about a slogan to go along with the new name?

SlowTech - for stuff that you want but don't need.

MaggieMcGill · 21/03/2014 19:57

Slowtech - Do yo need a shiny new battery? No? Are you sure? Totally positive? We can 100% guarantee that your old battery will be gubbed by the time you receive this order so we would highly recommend that you purchase a replacement.

Yours sincerely
Slowtech :)

Not exactly a slogan but they should put this on checkout page Grin

Allergictoironing · 21/03/2014 20:43

Be fair - they do say that delivery to some parts of the world can take up to 30 days depending on the carrier type. And delivery is free too, so can't really expect much better.

The bit that annoyed me was the "in stock", "out of stock", "awaiting delivery from supplier", "expected in 2 days", "expected in 5 days", no expected date given for item back in stock, then suddenly (after a support ticket & a couple of emails) order was packed and at Singapore Post!

MaggieMcGill · 21/03/2014 21:15

I get all my things from them apart from my liquid and I've never had a problem yet. I also think they have really good customer service.

Allergictoironing · 21/03/2014 21:29

Dammit all this talk about FastTech - just lost a whole hour window shopping! Mmm shiny shiny toys Grin. But I controlled myself, didn't order anything THIS time...

Ledare · 22/03/2014 17:37

Allergic, that is interesting about the twist and the spinner colour-wise. I guess you'll have to substitute a different clearo other than yellow for that pleasing continuity...

Allergictoironing · 22/03/2014 17:42

Pinky purple seems to go nicely Grin - which is lucky, as that's the colour I have my pineapple in at the mo!

Livesforbedtime · 23/03/2014 11:15

Just ordered 5 new flavours from vaping vision.. Don't mind the black cherry but it's not a giant hit. I've also upped the nicotine from 6 to 11 as I'm finding in craving a cigarette much more..

How do I change the fluid over? Do I just top up the new fluid or do I empty the old?

Went for chocolate banana, spearmint, bubblegum, chocolate strawberry and mocha - have now noticed a chocolate theme lol Hmm

slartybartfast · 23/03/2014 11:17

i jsut add more though the shop i went to recently suggested cleaning our your electronici cigarette, Shock, i am always using it!
so ou could wash it out before puttig in new liquid, or ou could mix and match.
