Kick those executors arses, Allergic!!

Would train, with advance ticket be any cheaper - I can easily meet you at station.

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 05/03/2014 17:32

Gods no Magi would still be much more than petrol - and it would take me forever too. Would have to get the train practically right into London & back out again, without even thinking of the bus fare (about £5 return) TO the station or parking AT my station.

Bugger all I can do about the executors, they haven't even told me in writing that I'm due to inherit anything. But the one who isn't the solicitor said that she needed my full name & address plus that of my siblings for the solicitor, and gave me a rough rundown of what was in the will so I know I'm in there. 7 months tomorrow and counting, and they've only just got round to putting the house on the market (sigh).

Livesforbedtime · 05/03/2014 18:32

Has anyone had any concern that actually these are MORE addictive than smoking? Or is this just a 'shiny new toy' thing - I smoke on the way too and way home from work and when the kids are in bed.. So maybe 7 a day on a bad day? Usually nearer to 5..

However I have found tonight that I keep having a crafty puff and then giggling Hmm like I'm being naiughty! I'm genuinely concerned I will end up smoking more!

Though.. Arguably I am only having 2 maybe 3 puffs at a time.. As opposed to a whole cigarette! And it is a bit of a novelty..

Is it also typical to be looking for my next flavour? I'm liking black cherry.. Any other recommendations? I'm thinking mint might be nice?

Thanks! Grin

Livesforbedtime · 05/03/2014 18:35

I've also made the decision NOT to give up cigarettes.. And that if I want one I will have one - from previous history I am aware that the second I say I'm going to quit then smoking becomes the most desired thing in my life!

QueenStromba · 05/03/2014 18:45

I think most people find that they vape more often than they smoked but are less dependent on it so find it easier to go long periods of time without vaping than they would have done with smoking.

Allergictoironing · 05/03/2014 18:53

Hi Lives. I had the same worries and decided there are a couple of reasons. One I think is a bit to do with shiny new toy syndrome, and the fact that we can be "naughty" without a come back.

Another is that with a real cigarette I would never ever put it out unless I'd smoked the whole thing as it was just too wasteful. Think on how many draws you'd have taken of a real cig, whereas as you have realised you take just a few draws on the e-cig at a time. So though you're "at it" much more frequently, you're taking much less nicotine in each time.

We all have our little quirks of personality that means every quit attempt will be different. I was a 30-a-day woman, tried out cigalikes & managed to halve that. Moving on to a decent battery & clearo system and it took me a couple of weeks to get from 5 a day to 2, then nearly a month to lose those last 2 real cigs. Like you I knew if I told myself I HAD to stop then and there, the craving would rush over me like there was no tomorrow. I actually kept the remains of my last packet for a few days after I last smoked a cigarette before giving them to my neighbour - if I'd given them away the next day I would have panicked!

Allergictoironing · 05/03/2014 19:02

And yes it's very typical to keep looking and trying new flavours. Some of us did a count of all the different bottles we had a few days ago & it was scary Grin. You may also find that flavours you thought you'd go mad for you're a bit "meh" about, whereas others that were an afterthought end up your favorites - I never thought I'd be crazy about pineapple!

An advantage of having a few flavours about is I find that after a few hours of vaping one flavour it doesn't quite seem to hit the mark. So I swap to another, then back to the first a while later. That's a good reason to have a few clearos around, so you can keep different flavours in them.

WARNING - vaping may cause shopping accidents for a while! What also seems to be common is once people get fully into vaping, they go through a phase of buying new shiny toys like this little baby (my precious) and assorted different clearos. Luckily this does seem to wear off a BIT with SOME people after a while Grin.

QueenStromba · 05/03/2014 19:11

Shinyitis can definitely be a problem. I'm quite proud of myself for going a whole month without buying anything other than atomiser heads.

Ledare · 05/03/2014 19:19

Ah yes. Shopping accidents. I have two of the rainbow batteries. DH says that if Snoop Dogg vaped he'd have that one Grin

I don't care. It's very pretty and shiny and works so well!

Allergic is so right about the flavours. I have some I knew I would enjoy and others - cocomel for instance, I had no idea. I bought a sampler and am now ordering 30ml a week! Similarly, some I thought I would love I couldn't stand.

Ledare · 05/03/2014 19:21

Queen, that is admirable! I should probably buy some. I've been vaping six weeks so I suppose they need replacing soon, but for the prices, I keep thinking, cheaper to stock up on clearos as I only have erm, nine Blush

KatieScarlett2833 · 05/03/2014 19:26

I have a bad dose of shinyitis Confused
I'll calm down one day...

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 05/03/2014 19:50

Hello, can I join the thread?

I've tried about a dozen cigarette looking e-cigs from the very cheap to the very expensive and always failed and have given up within about an hour. I bought a vapouriser 5 days ago, just to try it and possibly to cut down some of the fags. Neither DP or I have had a cigarette since! Shock

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 05/03/2014 19:55

Yay Schro, that's brilliant! Flowers

What did you get and what flavours are you on?

magimedi · 05/03/2014 19:55

Schro (have seen you before & just love your name) - Welcome!

You & DP are doing so well & I doubt if you will ever have another real fag again.

When I quit cigarettes (18 MONTHS AGO - bring on the drum roll) I tried a rollie after 3 days on the e-cigs & ended up over the kitchen sink spitting & swilling in disgust at the taste of it.

OP posts:
FlockOfTwats · 05/03/2014 20:01

livesforbedtime I did the same re "not quitting". I knew from experience that if i physically couldn't have a fag id want one more. I kept a pack of tobacco for ages and everything.

Regarding addiction to e cigs, i used mine far more at first. Then would use it all the tome if i dropped a flavour
I tend to have heavy caping days now and again but mostly i use it less than i smoked now.

I have no plans to quit vaping though, so i haven't tried not to use it. It doesn't bother me as much going without though as it bothered me when i smoked if i couldn't smoke.

Ledare · 05/03/2014 20:01

Schro! I know you - added you on Google plus way back when, how lovely to see you Smile

Congratulations and welcome!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 05/03/2014 20:26

:o Thank you!

Ledare I think you must be the only person I have on google+! Still haven't figured that out.

Already know I will never touch a fag again, not even slightly tempted. I feel like I am cheating as this has been too easy. I've never even managed a day trying to quit before...

Started on menthol and bought strawberry the next day, mixed them so was loving minty strawberry. Bought mango, cherry and currently vaping watermelon (which I don't like). I also bought a mini ce4 today, which I thought was great but now it just tastes burnt?

My main one is a prestige vaping falcon which is utterly fab. Already feel miles better, skin already looks better and I can breathe, smell and taste everything. Have also completely lost my appetite though but that's a bonus as I no longer crave sweet crap!

Work will also be over the moon at my lack of fag breaks.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 05/03/2014 20:30

I am on a hunt for pineapple though, cannot find it anywhere.

Ledare · 05/03/2014 20:31

Don't worry, Schro, google plus was all quickly abandoned Grin

You have done so well!

Ledare · 05/03/2014 20:37

Joose Juice pineapple

I think it tastes like like pineapple cubes.

Allergictoironing · 05/03/2014 20:38

Schro google "Hangsen pineapple" & there are plenty of places that do it Smile. I've had mine from at least 3-4 different places, & ended up getting my last lot from here as they do a big 100ml bottle (and even larger amounts Shock)

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 05/03/2014 20:49

Thank you, have been trying to find it in store, it seems to be very popular as all about 10 of the places I have tried, have all been sold out. Despite even having vodka flavour! :o. God 100ml would last us months, I think we're using less than 2ml a day between us! Everything tastes better mixed with menthol though so could probably do with 100ml of that!

Ledare I can see why it was abandoned, bloody confusing! Nice to see you here though.

Ledare · 05/03/2014 21:09

Thanks Schro.

I have to commend Plenty's fantastic post earlier. I especially agree with the, "who should sign" section.

Who should sign:

  • vapers
  • smokers, because you might want to try switching one day
  • friends and family of vapers
  • friends and family of smokers
  • people who don't like being around smokers or who worry about SHS
  • people who care about harm reduction and saving lives

That's everyone who isn't a judgemental, smug twat, isn't it?

magimedi · 05/03/2014 22:50

Now who is left who could be a judgemental twat? Grin

(Have signed, as has DH, DS Dil etc)

OP posts:
PlentyOfPubeGardens · 06/03/2014 09:19
Grin

Who should not sign:

  • judgemental twats who like having a handy group of scapegoats they can berate for being smelly, stupid, selfish and weak, and who value this above the health and wellbeing of their fellow citizens.
