Should the neighbours bring over our parcel?

We order lots of stuff from amazon and other mail order. Our neighbours very often take it in. DH says they should bring it to us. I think we should get it from them as they have done us a favour. AIBU?

You should get it.

Sirzy · 26/11/2013 22:21

You should get it from them.

I happily take in parcels for neighbours but wouldn't deliver them to them.

nancy75 · 26/11/2013 22:21

You should go and collect it.

Tabliope · 26/11/2013 22:21

Why should they bring it to you? They've already done you a favour.

bundaberg · 26/11/2013 22:21

wtf> you should go and get it!

i hope you aren't earlesswonders neighbours

Caitlin17 · 26/11/2013 22:22

You do know who is right don't you?

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/11/2013 22:22

You go and collect it.

Does your DH have a problem with his legs?

Or his manners?

bundaberg · 26/11/2013 22:23

may I also suggest, if you are regularly out when deliveries come, that you get them delivered to your workplace? or elsewhere?

jacks365 · 26/11/2013 22:23

If my neighbours expected me to play delivery guy as well as taking parcels in I'd stop accepting parcels for them. Yanbu but your dh is bvu.

goldenlula · 26/11/2013 22:23

You should get it. They are doing you a favour by taking it in, it is rude to expect them to then act as the postman and delivery it to your door. My neighbour often take parcels in for me, if they see me arrive home they bring it out, if not then I pop round to get it, but I do not expect them to come out with it.

BaronessBomburst · 26/11/2013 22:23

I don't mind taking in parcels for neighbours, but I'm sure as hell not spending my evening going up and down the street knocking on doors to hand them over! Your neighbours have done you a favour and are not a paid delivery service. DH is being U. YANBU.

alemci · 26/11/2013 22:24

go and get it. They are helping you out. some people wouldn't

I took a neighbours parcel in and the owner turned up today after a few days. it was heavy and i felt ill so I was patient,

NigelMolesworth · 26/11/2013 22:25

Tell your DH not to be a lazy so and do! In our street the person whose parcel it is comes to get it. I work from home and this time of year often end up with 4 or 5 parcels in the hall for various neighbours. If they all expected me to watch out for them coming home and hand them over each night then I'd stop doing it and they could traipse to the collection office on the other side of town.

phantomnamechanger · 26/11/2013 22:25

you should go get it, save them the trouble/effort.

but it works both ways here - sometimes I will see the neighbour is home and drop it round, they will often do the same - the postman does not always leave a card so we don't always know there is something to collect from them.

if I think a parcel for a neighbour might be a chrsitmas present they've ordered for their DC I will deliberately drop it in when the kids are still at school so they have a chance to hide it.

IamInvisible · 26/11/2013 22:25

I take parcels in for some of my neighbours. I don't take them over to them, they come and get them.

I'd stop doing it if they were lazy fuckers who couldn't be arsed to come and collect them!

BackforGood · 26/11/2013 22:25

Agree with everyone else - you should go and get it.

TwoShakesOfaWhiskersTail · 26/11/2013 22:26

Bloody hell can't believe you have to ask, is your dh always such a knob?

Purplefrogshoe · 26/11/2013 22:28

it would be a faff to go to the sorting office - we are a village and it would take over 3/4 of an hour round trip, so everyone in our close is very willing to take things in for each other.

BellaVita · 26/11/2013 22:30

You need to go.

gamerchick · 26/11/2013 22:30

Erm you collect it.. does your bloke like his arse wiped as well?

TheDoctrineOfWho · 26/11/2013 22:30

You are right, your DH is wrong.
