Inspired by the HW thread, I have been thinking about this for a while.

Arthur works for the MoM so wont be on a pittance as a head of department, even a minor one as there would surely be grades?

They eat massive amounts of expensive food having three courses at every dinner, cooked breakfast every day. When they win a load of money, instead of saving it in the knowledge that they have 4 kids still at school they blow the lot on a holiday of a month in Egypt! At the beginning of CoS Mrs W takes some silver sickles and ONE gold galleon from their vault, and then happily blows 1000 galleons on a holiday rather than see them financially secure for the next few years.

Seems to me that the reason their kids are in second hand robes and reading second hand books is because they are shit with money, not that they dont have enough.

Books.....They have to have a new Miranda Goshawk book each year, so when F&G have finished with them they could have passed one to Ron who passed it to Ginny and the older ones shared the remainder if they needed it, which is unlikely. Why have several unused copies of the same book in the family and still buy another one for the youngest student? Same with robes. Rons dress robes are second hand, but Mrs W says that Arthur has some for parties so why not lend him those (with some magically performed alternations if needed) rather than pod out for horrible second hand ones? Actually, thinking further, Mrs W is supposed to be a whizz at household stuff so why doesnt she transfigure the second hand stuff to look better?

They just throw good money after bad!

Ok first of all have seriously worried my DD at my laughing about ChubbyKitty death eater roll call. Thanks for that Bogeyface. Grin

I came out as Horace Slughorn Confused, and should marry Snape. .

On a previous note re holiday though, 1000 Galleons equates to £5000 (hp currency converter here, bearing in mind that Harry's first wand cost £35 that is still a mega expensive holiday costing them £4965!

Apparently I'm Mad-Eye and I should marry Lupin. Can you imagine what that fanfic would read like?

Go on, imagine it. I dare you. Grin

Yes but the older boys don't have dress robes to hand down because the ball is only held in honour of the Triwizard tournament, which hasn't happened for about 30 years because it's so dangerous...

No you can summon food if you know where it is so presumably Mrs Weasley can 'make' sauce in her kitchen...

I did the quiz (I'm Dumbledore) but to get my answer I had to sign up a for a profile on the site. The site turns out to be part of okcupid, and I'm getting emails from them, which is a bit of an issue since I'm married. I'm pretty annoyed actually.

Anyone else have this issue?

Doesn't matter if they are poor or not, there must be shit loads of blackberries round their way to sustain them

Pachacuti · 07/09/2013 00:44

No -- there was a box to tick to say whether you were single or married, and then when I ticked married a message appeared to say "Ah, do you want to sign up for one of our accounts anyway, go on?" but there was an alternative link to say "No, just sod off and give me my results" (I may be paraphrasing slightly).

Grin at blackberries. They might become a new MN meme.

Why did Voldy have a nose in the first film and a snake's one afterwards, please?

And they could just do Accio blackberry and avoid all the tedious picking.

But Arthur does, as Molly tells Ron, so surely he could have borrowed those with a bit of magical alterations? I bet Arthur's dont have lace!

Vault my guess is because in the first he was like the spirit of his former self but when he resurrected he pretty much came from a snake and that so he didn't come out like he used to be.

That's probably not the reason whyGrin

Vault, the very dark magic which Voldemort was involved with was hurting him. In his quest for immortality he was literally tearing himself apart and this was having an effect on his physical body. He didnt understand love/goodness so thought he could split his soul with no ill effects- he was wrong about this.
