Probably been done before ,however just saw an advert about a new and improved chocolate breakfast cereal.
Is chocolate for breakfast just wrong?

It's not something I would consider using as a regular thing.

What really annoys me is the way they try to sell them as being healthy.

mypavlova · 15/08/2013 18:35

my 6-year old says yabu.

CogDat · 15/08/2013 18:36

When else would you eat it?

ilovesooty · 15/08/2013 18:36

I love Coco Pops-at any time of day.

Isthisoneleft · 15/08/2013 18:37

When is chocolate acceptable?

I'm happy for my kids to have chocolate pancakes, pain aux chocolats, coco pops etc for breakfast on occassions not every day.

The same way I'm happy for them to have a twix, mars bar, etc for a snack on occassions not every day.

TheYamiOfYawn · 15/08/2013 18:37

I disapprove, but have fond memories of childhood breakfasts of bread and jam tartines with a big bowl of hot chocolate, so am in no position to be sniffly, really.

noblegiraffe · 15/08/2013 18:38

I like chocolate Weetabix minis, it's far nicer than crappy Weetabix, and fills me up more than a slice of toast. Otherwise I'd just have the chocolate as a snack instead.

Sirzy · 15/08/2013 18:38

Coco pops were always a treat for us when we had a variety pack on holiday. My mum had to look for the variety pack with two boxes of coco pops in to stop arguments!

pianodoodle · 15/08/2013 18:40

It's never too early for chocolatey goodness!

IneedAyoniNickname · 15/08/2013 18:42

Chocolate cereal is a treat here, although even when I buy it the dc would rather eat ready brek or muesli

WillyandTig · 15/08/2013 18:43

Aren't they more or less the same sugar wise as non chocolate cereal? Mmm coco pops!

Burmobasher · 15/08/2013 18:45

Coco pops are the shizzle

Emilythornesbff · 15/08/2013 18:47

Chocolate for breakfast is marvellous.
Pain au chocolate, chocolate brioche, crepes, hot chocolate, ......
Chocolate cereal would't be my first choice though. I'd rather me or DCs ate something chocolate that was meant to be chocolate IYSWIM.

DocMarten · 15/08/2013 18:47

Choc cereals are a staple in our house.

I don't eat it, but I do like a creamy hot choc at breakfast sometimes.

VashtaNerada · 15/08/2013 18:47

YABU. Chocolate is always, always right.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 15/08/2013 18:47

Coco Shreddies, or even better Coco Orange Shreddies are fantastic...

NichyNoo · 15/08/2013 18:48

I know...who eats weetabix and thinks 'hmmmm there is something missing here. I know - chocolate'

Sirzy · 15/08/2013 18:49

WIlly - Coco pops have 17g sugar per 30g serving, corn flakes have 8 in the same size serving

gintastic · 15/08/2013 18:49

We have it as a treat on holidays, otherwise I am mean mum and the choice is porridge, weetabix (Aldi version), cornflakes or rice crispies. With fruit if you want. Possibly toast after if I've not got to the "effing hell we are running LATE!!" stage (75% chance) by that point...

I just can't bring myself to believe that they are nutritious and enough to last a morning of school...

SuckAtRelationships · 15/08/2013 18:50

YABU. It's yummy. I love it. DS however hates it. So it's all for me :o

IrisWildthyme · 15/08/2013 18:50

Certainly YANBU as far as a daily thing goes. But for special treats (christmas, birthdays, hangovers) I love treating myself to a bowl of this stuff (and children are definitely not allowed ANY.)

SofaKing · 15/08/2013 18:50

I told my kids it was a breakfast treat.

I later found they had poured the whole box on to a sun lounger and were lying on it eating it. Two hours later I found them doing the same with honey nut cornflakes.

I wish they'd just eaten it for breakfast, chocolate or not!

currentbuns · 15/08/2013 18:51

I've stayed at hotels in Belgium where actual bars of chocolate appeared amidst the breakfast buffet.

TabithaStephens · 15/08/2013 18:52

Breakfast cereal is pretty much a con. "Part of a complete breakfast". What they mean is "next to a complete breakfast".

DocMarten · 15/08/2013 18:52

Just checked my cupboard

Fuel with choc chunks
Weetabix minis with choc
Krave
choc weetos

Then I have normal muesli, cornflakes, etc.
