sam is not my name ... neither is samandi, but that's besides the point :-) but seriously, it's only seven letters, not twenty

Oh dear Sam. Relax!

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 11/07/2013 11:31

Can I call you di? Seriously...it's what people on here do. I get called Neo and sometimes Dweebie! I have seen sweary user names get shortened to shitty and Fatty and ALL kinds of unflattering things. Change your user name if you hate sam.

samandi · 11/07/2013 11:31

mandi is better, i guess ...

mimitwo - how much? i prefer samandi, yes. it doesn't bother me so much that i'm about to slit my wrists over it, if that's what you mean ...

Feminine · 11/07/2013 11:32

Who did this to you? have you reported them?

I think it mentions problems like this in the MN guidelines.

I could even report the posters , if you need help! Wink

mynameisslimshady · 11/07/2013 11:32

I can't believe that you care enough about this to start a thread Confused

Fwiw I use the MN app and can usually only remember the first bit of peoples names when replying. Its not a personal slight against anyone.

samandi · 11/07/2013 11:33

neo - but your name is LONG! and obviously divided into four sections ...

if i change my username to "cascade" i'll probably get called "cas" ... which is worse than sam!

OP posts:
samandi · 11/07/2013 11:35

Feminine - a few posters have done it recently. Before the last couple of weeks I've never noticed it! I will check on their names and get back to you, your offer of assistance is greatly appreciated!

I can't believe that you care enough about this to start a thread

Starting a thread isn't exactly complicated or time-consuming ...

Pagwatch · 11/07/2013 11:36

I am only Pagwatch but get shortened to Pag
It's fine. It's friendly
The only time I don't like it is when some absoloute twat uses 'Pag' in the middle of a row. If you are being rude to me use my full name.

And I love Paggy.

SisterMatic · 11/07/2013 11:38

Im just grateful someone bloody talks to me, dont care what they call me Grin

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 11/07/2013 11:39

I like being called bunch - carrots, not so much...

PatsyAndEddy · 11/07/2013 11:40

I feel your pain

TooTabooToBoo · 11/07/2013 11:40

I want to be called Toot.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/07/2013 17:22

KurriKurri · 11/07/2013 17:29

I get shortened to Kurri (I mean I've already shortened my user name to KurriKurri, from KurriKurriKurriKurriKurriKurri, FFS) - how rude and thoughtless some people can be. ShockShock !!!!!!

Nest of vipers indeed.

MrsKwazii · 11/07/2013 17:30

I get called MrsK - I think it's friendly when usernames are shortened. Oh, and what Sparkling said.

ShatnersBassoon · 11/07/2013 17:30

I have been shortened to Shat once or twice. It's just friendly Hmm

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 11/07/2013 17:32

YANBU to dislike it, YABU to expect anyone else to take a blind bit of notice of your preferences.

Mind you I do get a bit annoyed by "Lady", which I get a lot, just because there are often several LadySoandSos on a thread, so it's not a unique identifier.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 11/07/2013 17:33

PM me sam - I've got an excellent counseller who can help you with this trauma. Meanwhile - if you tell me who did it I'll send the boys round to teach 'em a lesson they won't forget in a hurry!

BIWI · 11/07/2013 17:33

Grin @ being called Shat!

I like shortening people's names - it's supposed to be friendly. It never occurred to me that people wouldn't like it.

Sallystyle · 11/07/2013 17:33

I wish people would call me Sam on here instead of samu Grin
