To find James O'Brien LBC presenter a condescending twat

Am I the only one that finds LBC radio presenter James O'Brien infuriating. Whilst he has the face for radio he does not have the voice; but worse, I hate the way he patronises callers that are obviously less educated and less articulate than he is. He sounds like a patronising bully and it makes for uncomfortable listening. Unlike Nick Ferarri he has zero charisma.

What a waste of money that his parents must have spent on his education.(as he is always referring to his fantastic private school that I am sure would not want to admit his attendance). I do not find him articulate as I am sure he looks up words and writes them down to use on his programme whenever appropropiate. I find him untruthful, patronising and will only engage in a polite way with anyone who agrees with him. His silly little scoff of a laugh when someone speaks more common sense than him is so childish as is his puerile voice imitation of anyone who voted leave the EU by leaving off h's and t's from his narrative. Time to go James, you have outstayed your welcome and I will once again be able to listen to the whole of LBC, maybe Nigel can take over your spot as well.

OMG, have none of you listened to the witty, super sharp and hugely entertaining Steve Allen?! I’m up extra with a feral child and he really is far better than any of the other LBC presenters xx

I so agree with you. He is an arrogant bully that ties people in knots so they are unable to express themselves.

You are not alone, he sounds like a total cunt!

I adore his voice and largely, his content. If I'm driving, switch on and its him I instantly sit back, put the heated seats on and feel instantly happy that I've still got however long left to drive and can listen to him Smile He admits when he is wrong too and openly can do u-turns in his opinion.

He's an insufferable pompous toffee nosed bore. He's half Irish and is one we will happily not claim as our own. The English can have him! Grin
Have any of you seen the James O'brien bingo on twitter? It's hilarious.

Yes, he takes any opportunity he can to come out with a largely unheard of long word. I suspect he has a tiny dick.

Sheila Fogarty is another one for big words. If you're in the business of communication, it might be worth communicating in a language people understand.

All of them are better than Andrew Castle.
James O Brien is alright, he does get on my nerves when he over talks to his callers and only likes people that agree with him, but he does speak sense and can be entertaining.
Nick F is great, the way he sighs and moans at his guests is amusing and is also good on the Pledge on sky news with other presenters.
The ads are annoying, so i dont tend to listen to it that much.

Sheila Fogarty was good on five live - here she does tend to use complicated language sometimes , but she is one of the more rational presenters and will listen to both sides of the argument and let people talk to her without interrupting them all the time.
i used to drive a lot more than i do now, so i have stopped listening to a lot of these people lately, but i still prefer talkie radio shows to music ones sometimes.

I so agree with you. He has led a privileged life and takes pleasure in humiliating and disregarding people that have a different life experience

I CANNOT STAND HIM, he is so condescending, rude, obnoxious and self righteous.

As soon as I hear his voice I race to turn the radio channel over.

We shouldn't take commercial radio stations such as LBC too seriously. The various presenters, many disappearing without trace coming and going as they do as though through a revolving door, are self-employed commercial products who endeavour to craft their presenting style in order to attract listeners which in turn encourages advertisers that pay LBC's high salaries. If they don't measure up in attracting listener figures or contravene certain mores like Katie Hopkins, Maajid Nawaz, and Steve Alan apparently did they have their contracts terminated or the contract isn't renewed. LBC takes on a lot of BBC discontented flotsam 'n jetsam who have jumped ship 'HMS BBC' for a rickety LBC boat 'The Jolly Roger' flying its skull 'n crossbones flag.🙂

Almost the 10th anniversary of this Z O M B I E thread (2013), we've all aged 10 years and LBC presenters have come and gone...

Steve Allen - GONE, given the big E for being a complete wozzack with no intellect or social filter

Majit Nawaz - GONE, probably to do better things with his broadcasting talents

Nigel Farridge - GONE - bigoted hypocrite

Ferrari, O'B and Foggerty still here, they are the stronger broadcasters who probably won't go until they've decided they've had enough.

Wasn't there also brief stints from Julia Hartley Brewer and Ken Livingstone? Maybe also Katie Hopkins?
And there was a tv show where the host was clearly modelled on JOB.

I don’t particularly like him, he is smarmy but I do listen to him. It’s just nice to have a bit of balance on the radio.

Unfortunately he reminds me of those ‘nice guys’ that are right on but just play the character to get in your knickers (don’t think he is trying to do that, he is playing the kind and caring leftie to get more listeners rather than get laid).

It's fair discombobulating to see a thread you posted on 10 years ago suddenly shoot straight to the top of your active threads list.

I find the way JOB treats certain people hard to take. He definitely wants to be in charge and he is a bully sometimes.

I dislike when he interviews someone on a serious or emotive subject and then takes over, finishing off for them and metaphoring all over the shop.

I actually like listening to him. I know that he comes across as a jumped up little prick but I genuinely think that he is a good person and his heart is in the right place
Think that he was brilliant during the pandemic and loved listening to his views on Brexit

I like James but can’t listen to him all the time as I get bored with same old so sometimes switch to Shelagh or Nick. Nigel was definitely the one I could never listen to…
