To ask why the MN forums have such little functionality?

So, other forums let you quote other posts, or put text in different fonts/colours etc, or indicate your 'thanks' for a post. Can't be that difficult / expensive, so why are these added functions not available on MN?

I just love the whole fucking simplicity of posting here. It means that, most of the time, what is posted is worth reading.

Because MNHQ are surprisingly sensible and know how we behave.

They gave us pretty coloured flowers. And put up with weeks of us spelling fuck off and cunt with them.

They gave us a mug, and we sniggered about the ganja leaf.

We were rude to Gordon Brown and we were rewarded with a biscuit - we made obscene references to painful bumsex.

I remember MNHQ deleted the original floral fuck off, we all howled in rage and they came back to say sorry. Can you imagine any other forum owners apologising for deleting a great big fuck off made of flowers?

A short time ago DD asked me what the difference was between Mumsnet and Netmums. So I showed her the mumsnet site, then the Nethuns site. She looked at both critically then proclaimed that "Netmums looks like it was designed by a 12yo girl". Given that she was a 12yo girl at the time, she ought to know.

We don't have tickers, avatars, quote functions or any of that shit because Mumsnet is a site for grown-ups.

I'm now wondering whether I should enter a 'floral fuck off' for the next flower and produce show.

I just love the arrogance of someone who'll come on to a forum like this one which has been hugely successful in its 12 or 13 years of existence and swagger around making comment on what is wrong with it and how it could be improved.
