clicky linky

Feminine · 08/11/2012 14:12

Your link doesn't work.

But I am in an age gap relationship, 13 yrs difference.

MumsGoToReykjavik · 08/11/2012 14:12

I don't see anything wrong with the story you have linked to?? It's just a flufffy magazine article about age gaps in the sleb world. Although there is a 17 year age gap between me and my oh.

BonkeyMollocks · 08/11/2012 14:13

I have a 23year age gap with my dh.

Why does it annoy you?

Feminine · 08/11/2012 14:14

Ok read the article now.

well there will always be those that don't like it...I never think about it :)

It just seems age gaps relationsnhips are always fodder for these kind of things - who cares if you are both adults?

OP posts:
Feminine · 08/11/2012 14:16

I think it was a non-article TBH.

Something I would have just skimmed over, or ignored.

op don't worry :)

JustFabulous · 08/11/2012 14:17

Maybe because an article about John aged 34 and Jane aged 36 isn't that interesting but is when Jane is 18 or 59.

OHforDUCKScake · 08/11/2012 14:18

Theres 12 years between DP and I, I dont feel any different though. It doesnt cross my mind tbh.

It did a lot 13 years ago when I met him but I was only 17.

Dawndonna · 08/11/2012 14:21

12 years between me and dh.
Daft article, but not particularly offensive.

gomummygone · 08/11/2012 14:24

Yep, as feminine says, non-article.

20 year gap here, never crosses our minds, over a decade in. :)

ObiWan · 08/11/2012 14:26

People can write 4 pages about what lipstick Jordan wears, celeb stuff is just filler.

There is a gap of about 18 years between me and my husband (he's older). I never really think about it.

It's always nice though, when I fill in forms and realise I'm not as old as I thought I was Grin

whois · 08/11/2012 14:58

Age gaps matter little when you are 25+ I reckon. Until you get old again, they it matters.

Age 15 & 20? Sounds bad.

Age 30 and 40? Doesn't sound bad. Sounds fine.

35 & 55? Not so bad.

60 & 80? Bad again.

ObiWan · 08/11/2012 15:00

It's OK whois, I plan to be living on his life insurance by then Grin

Goldenjubilee10 · 08/11/2012 15:41

Grin ObiWan.

16.5 years between dh and I. We have been together more than 20 years and I never think about it.

HtotheS · 08/11/2012 15:46

24 year age gap here.

We have a 15month old and we never think about the age gap.

Love the term 'autumn-spring' relationships!!

CheungFun · 08/11/2012 15:48

I agree with whois my younger sister was 16 when she met her boyfriend who was 27 and the age gap just seemed wrong and like he was taking advantage (she is quite sheltered and innocent and he had previously asked me out which didn't help my opinion), but if a 25 year old and 36 year old were together I don't expect I'd give it any thought.

EldritchCleavage · 08/11/2012 16:45

My favourite response to this was from Joan Collins, who is married to Percy Gibson (32 years younger). Asked if she were bothered about the age gap, she shrugged and said 'If he dies, he dies'.

PropertyNightmare · 08/11/2012 17:12

Agree with Who is.

16 and 32 sounds BAD

32 and 48 sounds not so bad

oldbootface · 08/11/2012 17:56

what pisses me off about the article is they feel it necessary to point out that Hugh Jackson/DebraLee Furness and Harrison Ford/Clarissa Flockhart's children are adopted. Why make the distinction?

MammaTJ · 08/11/2012 18:27

11 years between me and my ExH. It seemed ok when I was 25 and he was 36, it was just about ok when I was 36 and he was 47.

That was when he left me for someone else though. I am now with someone much closer in age to me and we have more similar opinions on important things like having fun!!

My ex now at 56 seems just so very old. I am still changing and planning for the future, he is planning retirement.

I am studying and off to uni next year, he just wants to watch TV and play on his PS3 in his 'games room'.

DontmindifIdo · 08/11/2012 18:39

Agree with Whois - it's more the stage of life thing, a 30 year old and 40 year old could easily be in similar life situations, where as a 16 to 26 year olds would be at different stages, and then at the other end it could become an issue again (either the older one has to take the decision to work later than they would if they'd married some a similar age, or the younger one moves into "retired person" world a little earlier than they otherwise would).

B1ueberryFields · 08/11/2012 18:40

I can't believe how many of you all have dps old enough to be your fathers!

SirBoobAlot · 08/11/2012 18:41

Oooh we have the same age gap as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas. Thankfully DP is looking a lot younger than Douglas Grin

Age is just a number.
