I have had enough of Phillip sodding Schofield and his apologist attitude towards Jimmy Savile

Angry

Last week, it was saying how sorry he felt for JS's family to the VICTIMS of JS fgs, basically saying that he knew the layout of the dressing rooms at the BBC and he can't imagine that happening and no-one seeing and now, just, he said "But that's what television and radio was like in those days"

Errr, no Phil. Rape/molestation has ALWAYS been wrong, you daft twat. Yes, they were sexist times but there is a world of difference between sexual assaults on underage girls and sexist banter/inequality in the workplace.

And you have young daughters IIRC, Phillip. Shame on you.

edam youve summed up what I wanted to say about PS, but didnt have the words.

Teamumizumi · 08/10/2012 18:34

My stepmum was a big PR girl in the 80s and 90s knows a lot of TV people. Even 15 years ago she would shudder at his name but would never say why.

What's the modern day equivalent? suppose it's the same as Mr Tumble being caught with his pants down.... Don't sue me, Justin, am using younas an example! I takeitbackitakeitbackItakeitback.

halloweeneyqueeney · 08/10/2012 18:37

No that wouldn't be an equivalent at all, because its not just about JS its about all the colleagues and police etc who potentially supported his actions!

bochead · 08/10/2012 18:38

Our voices as women in society are much, much louder than our mothers due to our generations increased financial clout.

All any of us can do at this point is shout "I BELIEVE HER!"; and that this behavior by predatory males is not OK, that we will not turn a blind eye. Our teens (boys and girls) and children have an absolute right to grow up safe & protected from sexual wolves and those that would defend/condone/excuse them. Full stop.

We can also do our damndest to raise our sons to have the basic for women and children that some of of the baby boomer males so patently lack.

BupcakesAndHaunting · 08/10/2012 18:44

Yes yes yes bochead, to everything you just said.

Also, wrt to the Mandy Smith/Bill Wyman travesty, I was a CHILD, not even a teenager, a child when he was molesting her and it was all over the papers in the 80s. Even I, as a child, thought "WTF?" Hmm

I suppose I would have been labelled a sodding wild child when I was a teenager. Always sneaking out and going to nightclubs/drinking/taking drugs/shagging older men. Older men who knew my age, btw. If my dad had known, he'd have strangled me. Not the men. Make of that what you will.

"bupcakes" back in the day when kids would hang out in pubs in villages if it was raining drinking pop and eating crisps, a VERY old man who regularly took underage girls home in full view of the rest of the village came up to me and my also underage friend and started suggesting doing some very disgusting things to us, I LOUDLY objected repeating what he had said so that the rest of the bar could hear and he.....
........ THREATENED TO TELL MY DAD! yes! he threatened to tell my dad on me for not sitting quietly while that vile man said vile things to us..
.. I pointed out that my father was not one of the cunts at the bar (many also fathers of girls around our age) who were watching and rather than defending the girls being harrassed, were raising eyebrows at me for making a fuss

but it wasn't just about the odd vile sex offender back then, it was about the community that supported them Sad

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 08/10/2012 19:25

I heard Mike Smith too he sounded almost hysterical and advised us all not to listen to Janet Street Porter and Liz Kershaw as what they are saying is totally unfounded and blown out of proportion

JSP is more intelligent than any radio 1 dj or all of them put together I am quite sure she did not get it all so wrong

Really some do not know when to keep their mouth shut

MrsjREwing · 08/10/2012 20:09

Hi Phillip, liked you until the behaviour you displayed over Jimmy Savile scandal, you concern me now Phillip.

Mike Smith sounds like a frightened man.

BupcakesAndHaunting · 08/10/2012 20:12

Halloweeny, how vile. Well done for standing up to him though, it must have been difficult to do Thanks

Agree with MrsEwing re: Mike Smith, too.

I am disappointed to hear that Philip has rape apologist views as I always thought he was quite a genuinely nice man (or so he came across to me)
But I do also see what he's saying about feeling sorry for js family. And I think this applies to any rapists, murderers, paedofiles family, obviously never as much sympathy as with the victims of abuse but they must suffer too- imagine if it were you r dad, brother, son etc it would be hard. I wonder if this is what he meant? If he didn't then IMO he's a dick

notmeatthemo2012 · 08/10/2012 20:17

Was Mike Smith on This Morning when he said that?

zookeeper · 08/10/2012 20:21

I feel sympathy for Savile's family and I feel sympathy for his victims in this whole sorry affair..

BupcakesAndHaunting · 08/10/2012 20:23

Jazz, I agree with you, but he shouldn't have said it to JS's rape victim.

It was insensitive, crass, belittling to the victims... He's been talking about the JS subject every day since the story broke. Why did he have to say it during that interview? :(

Stick to talking about inane subjects like X-Factor, Pip. You clearly have the tact of a housebrick in the face and aren't qualified to be interviewing rape victims. I wonder what Denise Roberts makes of all this?

OP posts:
MrsjREwing · 08/10/2012 20:32

Denise would be livid at Pip.

halloweeneyqueeney · 08/10/2012 20:45

not really bupcakes because I knew my dad would be on my side, and I went and told him anyway, and he believed me 100% but then my dad was progressive for the time! was harder for my friend who was with me who obviously didn't feel so confident about being able to seek back up from her parents Sad or any other adult, and sat there like a rabbit in headlights. Girls were NOT supposed to make a fuss back then!

NigellasGuest · 08/10/2012 21:16

No, Notmeat, he was on Radio Five being interviewed by Richard Bacon

thebestisyettocome · 08/10/2012 21:49

PS probably thinks we're a bunch of hysterical trolls. He has very odd attitude towards the Royals. He's ridiculously deferential towards them and whenever they're mentioned he smiles at the camera, clearly believing they may be watching TM. JS was close to some members of the RF so I wonder if that's why PS is trying his best to help gloss over this scandal?

I'm glad that Sandi Toksvig, Liz Kershaw and JSP have all spoken out. These three women have more integrity in their little fingers than most people in the media.

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 08/10/2012 22:01

the interview i heard was on radio 2 i think it was from the interview with radio 5. mike smith called it a witch hunt at the bbc he was frothing i could tell when he mentioned jsp :)

you know there is going to be a back lash on jsp, st and lk along the lines in your dreams love, you wish, i am so pleased they have spoken out lets hope more come forward

Philip Schofield is an avid googler of himself. He will be reading this thread.

< waves at Philip >

hello there, you apologist twat

MinnieBar · 08/10/2012 22:20

Honestly, being a rape apologist is soooo last week Pip.

Do keep up.

ThreadWatcher · 08/10/2012 22:24

FS? Mrsjrewing - I can't remember who FS is!
All the code speak is necessary but confusing!

I used to adore PipS - I won't be watching another second of tv he is on now.
How would you feel if it was daughter involved hmm?

Interesting re: MS and his reaction - is he worried?

MrsjREwing · 08/10/2012 22:32

Freddy Starr, ITV and Ch4, showed footage of fs sat next to the lady from js show, fs claimed she was a nutter.
