I fancy making spam fritters.
Haven't had one since I was a kid and I don't think DD has ever had one.

Mrsjay · 08/09/2012 15:53

limitedperiodonly · 08/09/2012 15:56

I love corned beef in all its forms.

Tell your friend she has a very small social circle.

CrikeyOHare · 08/09/2012 15:57

Ring can pulls? Really? Shock They only have the old fashioned key tins in my local shops! Shall have to start shopping at Waitrose Grin.

sugarice · 08/09/2012 15:59

Crikey I'm sure I got mine at Asda but it was Princes on special offer! Wink

Schlock · 08/09/2012 15:59

I had a hankering for corned beef a few weeks ago so bought myself a tin, ring pull 'n all. I have no idea what I was thinking because it was a turgid lump of fatty yuckiness. Even my kids, who will eat any old crap, thought it was horrible.

lisaro · 08/09/2012 16:02

Corned beef on white bread with piccalilli. (orgasmic emoticon). And corned beef hash for me is potatoes, corned beef, onions and carrots stewed. With pickled red cabbage or beetroot. Gorgeous.

TinyDancingHoofer · 08/09/2012 16:05

Corned beef with a ring pull! We still have the ones that open with the key. MY dad always said to pull the paper off the tin first so that you are only winding tin around the key rather than a tin and paper combo.

corned beef in the USA is not the same thing as in the UK. In the UK that is known as salt beef, which is like pastrami..

GlaikitFizzog · 08/09/2012 16:07

Have just checked my larder Wink princes tin has a ring pull! And I've just sent out dh to get potatoes because we are having hash for dinner!!

Feminine · 08/09/2012 16:09

I have only ever bought sliced corn beef Confused in large slices.

SPAM is in the can.

TinyDancingHoofer · 08/09/2012 16:11

Yeah you can get slices in packets like ham in waitrose, But half the fun is that it comes in a brick, surely?

I just didn't realize. Grin

Is it with the Spam?

lisaro · 08/09/2012 16:23

Oldest son mashes it with mayo to spread on bread.

SayersIsBetterThanGreggs · 08/09/2012 16:25

The trick with the keys is to take the label off, took me a few years and numerous shredded hands to work that out.

Dawndonna · 08/09/2012 16:27

Mmm Corned beef hash.
Corned beef and branston sandwiches.

Maat · 08/09/2012 16:27

I love corned beef.

On it's own, in hash or with raw onion on a crusty dinner cob.

AlwaysHoldingOnToStars · 08/09/2012 16:29

Mmmmm, we all love corned beef here. I like it with tomatoes in my sandwich, dh likes it with brown sauce.

We had some last week, Tescos value stuff and it came withe twisty key. I nearly cried when I couldn't get it off. It hurt my poor fingers. Ring pulls are definitely better.

Pickles77 · 08/09/2012 16:30

Mum is doing corned beef hash as of this thread!
Proper food she says Grin dads all excited.
weirdos

DeathMetalMum · 08/09/2012 16:30

Corned beef hash and caulifower with cheese sauce was a favourite meal that my mum made. I just bought some corned beef slices today for corned beef and salad cream sandwhiches. Grin

Badvoc · 08/09/2012 16:31

My bro used to come in from the pub, open a tin of corned beef. Put a fork in it and eat it like a lollipop!
he also used to put frozen meals in the oven -in the days before microwaves - and wa stop impatient/drunk to wait so regularly ate semi frozen meals.....:$

MagnaInOrangeAndGold · 08/09/2012 16:32

Yum love corned beef.

As a child mum used to make a corned beef, mushroom and onion concoction wrapped in puff pastry and served with baked beans Grin

Not as cheap as it used to be though, especially the sliced stuff

ByTheWay1 · 08/09/2012 16:37

mmmmm love corned beef - we do patties - fry onions add to mashed corned beef and mashed potatoes, add frozen peas and sweetcorn and an egg, make into flat rounds, cover in batter and fry -OMG.......
