I?ve used Always since they first came out in the UK (waaaay back when) and always (sorry) been happy with them. They were a revelation after the inch-thick leaky horrors of my early teens. Anyway, I notice they are now only available scented ? at least the ones I use (Night ? for those heavy heavy times). WHY???? Not only do I really dislike the heavy implication that a) my fanjo smells terrible and b) I don?t know to wash myself and wear clean underwear, but the smell makes me heave - it?s like the worst elements of synthetic old-lady and teenager perfumes mixed together ? and I really don?t want to stick chemicals right on my most sensitive part. Bought some last month because I hadn?t realised they were scented, and while I can almost never smell my own period I can constantly smell the stupid scent.

Thanks a bunch Always Angry I shall be switching to Boots? own brand from now on (until they become bloody scented as well)

I just bought a pack of unscented.

ClaireRacing · 31/07/2012 17:02

I haven't noticed a scent.

MinesaBottle · 31/07/2012 17:03

Are they still available? Couldn't find them in local Boots but will investigate the nearest Superdrug.

MinesaBottle · 31/07/2012 17:06

The whole Ultra range is now scented

Smelly pads

Don't like the maxi ones so once shops run out of their pre-stink stock, another brand it is!

I am also annoyed by this! Had an op on my lady parts recently so having to wear them constantly, didn't realise they were scented when i bought a months supply- aside from the fact that the smell is vile i don't like the idea of putting chemicals all over the surgical wound I've been told not to even use scented soap on! Bah. Am sending DH out to get some different ones later.

FeakAndTheWeebleWorm · 31/07/2012 17:08

Actually can't believe I wrote 'lady parts' just then. Am now off to join netmums.

2beornot · 31/07/2012 17:10

YANBU. I have used always for as long as I can remember but may have to change now (I am very sensitive to scents etc. and can only use simple shower gel)

highlandbird · 31/07/2012 17:18

YADNBU I just realised this recently too and it really wound me up, there should at least be a choice, I don't want my fanjo to smell like an old lady's handbag thank you, I'd rather wash myself and change my sanitary pad frequently Confused

chipsandmushypeas · 31/07/2012 17:20

That sounds like it would cause thrush! Horrible stupid idea

honeytea · 31/07/2012 17:23

YANBU.

The scent should at least be Fruits of the forrest.

SirEdmundFrillary · 31/07/2012 17:25

I haven't used these but don't like the idea I should be scented by them so I don't offend. There used to be some adverts like this, can't remember the details but there was a woman in white pants looking happy.

slowestwildebeast · 31/07/2012 17:28

Sounds awful. I always use bodyform. They're much easier to use and I found with Always that stuff didn't sink in through that magic top layer of theirs.
Sorry tmi. :)

BertieBotts · 31/07/2012 17:28

Get Cottons from Boots, they're just as good as Always, and the same price, but without the chemically crap, and since their entire brand image is about making sanitary products which don't have as much chemical crap in them I very much doubt they will ever be scented. They are bleached though rather than the "natural" shade some of the other "chemical free" pads are though, but I've never found that a problem.

scentednappyhag · 31/07/2012 17:29

Every time this shows up in Active Convos, I get all affronted thinking I've pissed someone off Grin
As you were OP!

leguminous · 31/07/2012 17:34

YANBU. I'm so annoyed about it! I've used them since I was a teenager, but this scented crap has got me buying Boots own instead. It doesn't diguise anything, it just makes it smell like a combination florist and butcher's shop has opened in my crotch. Fucking vile.

LeandarBear · 31/07/2012 17:35

I agree with you 100%. It is really irritating and the smell is disgusting.

Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

YANBU

I will try other makes.

Tee2072 · 31/07/2012 17:37

Wait, now I'm going to have to go look, maybe they are scented. I'll report back later!

NeverHaveIEver · 31/07/2012 17:39

I was considering starting this exact thread earlier! Scent + hormones makes me heave. My vulva does not need an air freshener Angry

EauRouge · 31/07/2012 17:43

Scented sanitary pads? Nice. If you buy a year's worth, do you get a free T shirt that says 'Unclean' for that time of the month?

Katienana · 31/07/2012 17:43

Regardless of the scent they must have chemicals on them anyway I would have thought. Like how some people object to.coloured toilet paper, as if the plain white is naturally that colour!

MrsKeithRichards · 31/07/2012 17:45

May I be the first to say monocup?

sagesponsoredbymacdonalds · 31/07/2012 17:46

YADNBU-I cant believe that many people really would want extra chemically shite next to their fanje.

And i dislike the implied message that women menstruating are dirty and smell.

Gah!

SirEdmundFrillary · 31/07/2012 17:46

But I think the main problem isn't the smell of the stuff, it's that they're trying to scent us out.

threesocksmorganwinsgold · 31/07/2012 17:47

yanbu. i got them by mistake, and they smell vile, binned them and got another brand
