We've recently moved and got a cleaner. She's very nice but I'm not that impressed. She scours the kitchen within an inch of its life and skims the rest. For the last 3 weeks I've noticed that DP's toilet and the teen's toilet have poo stripes. SHe has cleaned the toilet but not scrubbed the stripes. Is this not a bit out of order? We can't have loo brushes because DS loves them and charges round the house with them aloft.

I once worked for a woman who left her pads in her pants when she put them in the wash, so I do know what it feels like to think, jesus, meet me half way.

But still, is a bit of a scrub not part of being a cleaner?

I personally think poo cleaning is the responsibility of whoever left it there, sorry. I get the no loo brush thing, but could one be kept out of DS's reach maybe?

littleducks · 17/05/2012 21:51

I think you need to have a loo brush (hidden away?) if you want the toilet scrubbed by the cleaner

BumpingFuglies · 17/05/2012 21:53

Poo stripes. Hmmm. With no loo brush, maybe she could shave her head, let it grow a bit, then use her stubble to scrub. You'd have to pay for the trims, obviously.

ancienthistrionics · 17/05/2012 21:54

Gloves. Cillit bang. Job done, no?

Chunkamatic · 17/05/2012 21:54

Why can't your DP or your teens clean their own toilets if it's only poo?

SauvignonBlanche · 17/05/2012 21:56

YABU, get her a loo brush.

IHaveAFeatureWallAndILikeIt · 17/05/2012 21:56

I also have a ds with a loo brush fascination. I bought one of those tiny corner shelves for a couple of quid and its high up out of his reach.

Tulipsforever · 17/05/2012 21:56

Get your DP and teens to line the loo with a bit of loo paper before they do the deed. Bye bye problem.

BumpingFuglies · 17/05/2012 21:58

But still, is a bit of a scrub not part of being a cleaner?

With what? Confused

thisisyesterday · 17/05/2012 22:00

oh god no! i was mortified to discover that skid marks had been left one day before our cleaner came

i think whoever leaves shit in the toilet should clean it, although not easy when there is nothing to clean it with...

Firawla · 17/05/2012 22:01

yabu!!! how can you just leave the toilet like that waiting for the cleaner to come, any things like this should be dealt with asap not just left. that's gross!
and yes, put the loo brush up high or out of your ds' line of sight
or if you prefer non brush methods then fine, but whatever method it should be done asap not just left

DontmindifIdo · 17/05/2012 22:02

YABVU - Get a loo brush. Tell your teens and DP to use it. (I'm sure your cleaner will use it once it's there as well, but if she's only in once a week then you will regularly have poo stuck on your loos for days on end - if you aren't prepared to put on gloves and scrub it yourself every day, then you should have brushes)

AKissIsNotAContract · 17/05/2012 22:02

If my DP left poo skids I'd leave him. Why can't he get rids of his own skids?

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 17/05/2012 22:03

At least buy a loo brush (and tell teens to use it)

saladsandwich · 17/05/2012 22:03

awww poor cleaner having to clean the weeks shit skids off your toilet!!!! YABU

wonkylegs · 17/05/2012 22:03

YABU if you don't have a loo brush
Get a loo brush put it somewhere sensible and teach those who do skids to scrub before they leave.

BumpingFuglies · 17/05/2012 22:04

It's no problem to leave it for the cleaner, as long as they have the tools to deal with it. Cillit Bang and a cloth won't do the job, especially if it's been there a few days.

Get a brush, disguise it as a bunch of flowers or whatever. Be realistic!

ilovesooty · 17/05/2012 22:10

Does every member of your family have a toilet each? Confused

landofsoapandglory · 17/05/2012 22:10

YABU.

Tell your DP and your teens to clean their own skid marks off the toilet!

cheeseandpineapple · 17/05/2012 22:16

This has got to be a wind up??!!

Has made me weep with laughter reading this thread!

woopsidaisy · 17/05/2012 22:18

A toilet brush for each toilet.
I had to buy more brushes when I got my cleaner. I would not expect her to manually clean shit off our toilets. Or even clean the toilets without a brush.

YABU.

AKissIsNotAContract · 17/05/2012 22:38

Leaving shit in the pan for a week will also have a pretty grim aerosol effect. I hope you don't leave your toothbrushes in the bathroom when you have such a lazy attitude to poo skids.

ancienthistrionics · 17/05/2012 22:39

We have a bathroom each. DP has one in his office and known enough to do his business there.

I never look in the other bathrooms except when we have people staying. THe teen has to clean his own bathroom but he's notoriously unreliable.

My own bowl is clean of course Grin

OK, so I had better get a brush. Sorry I just thought you poured the bleach, left it a few minutes then came back with the scrubber.

oh dear god. what some people think that paying other people entitles them to is a joke.

buy a fucking toilet brush and you may get the toilet cleaned. Why should she scrub your husbands shit off with her hands? if its so not a big deal how about you do it? no?
