We've recently moved and got a cleaner. She's very nice but I'm not that impressed. She scours the kitchen within an inch of its life and skims the rest. For the last 3 weeks I've noticed that DP's toilet and the teen's toilet have poo stripes. SHe has cleaned the toilet but not scrubbed the stripes. Is this not a bit out of order? We can't have loo brushes because DS loves them and charges round the house with them aloft.

I once worked for a woman who left her pads in her pants when she put them in the wash, so I do know what it feels like to think, jesus, meet me half way.

But still, is a bit of a scrub not part of being a cleaner?

I am heartily sorry for my post. It was unforgivable. A heinous lapse in judgement.

I meant to write off the toilet bowl.

BumpingFuglies · 17/05/2012 23:19

erik - bit strong possibly?

OP you need this

Grin

Seriously though (sorry for the ribbing), provide a brush and all will be well. Even if there are no marks, you need it for the limescale.

Good luck Smile

bejeezus · 17/05/2012 23:19

hahah....maybe she should use your husbands toothbrush?! Grin

mumofjust1 · 17/05/2012 23:19

How disgusting.

Erik, well said

ThatVikRinA22 · 17/05/2012 23:20

toilet duck do disposable toilet brush type things. just so you know if youre squeamish about them.

ErikNorseman · 17/05/2012 23:20

Everyone should be responsible for their own shit you weirdo

It is not appropriate to expect to be able to pay someone to clean smears of shit by hand, unless they are a nurse or similar. Your sense of entitlement is boggling.

bejeezus · 17/05/2012 23:21

see IMO erik swearing is not half as offensive as OP expecting her cleaner to scrub her husbands and teenage sons poo from the toilet with a sponge Confused

thirdfromleft · 17/05/2012 23:21

What a fickle place MN is. It was not long ago that anyone who owned a loo brush was a social outcast.

bygones...

ancienthistrionics · 17/05/2012 23:22

Emma, will have to look at getting some of those.

I don't think I'm treating her badly, she has made her decision not to scrub the bowls and I can do as I wish.

Not one poster has suggested a cleaner should clean that sort of dirt so I will concede defeat. Clearly she needs to leave the bastard Grin

I have cleaned toilets in several paid roles. Happy to do it and have always been provided with suitable equipment. Would not do what you expect your cleaner to do, ever. Demeaning and degrading.

Noqontrol · 17/05/2012 23:29

Lol. No I dont think the cleaner should clean the poo stripes, it doesn't seem very respectful to me. But maybe that's just me. I went on holiday with a friend once and she left poo stripes in the hotel loo. I tried to make her clean them up but she wouldn't as she thought that was the cleaners job. So I cleaned them up myself. I just didn't want the cleaner to have to come in and do that. Blush What's wrong with people cleaning up their own poo stripes? They are yours, (or your children's) urghh.

Iggly · 18/05/2012 06:51

Noqontrol you cleaned your friends?!!!!!! Shock

As for poo encrusted loo brushes - give them a good rinse and shake when the loo is flushing. Several times if you must.

HecateTrivia · 18/05/2012 06:55

Yes, I agree with everyone Grin It's unreasonable to expect the cleaner to get her hand down the bog and scrub away the family's poo smears.

You need to have a crackdown on toilet cleaning. Make everyone clean up after themselves.

wishiwasonholiday · 18/05/2012 06:58

Eww Yabu get a toilet brush and let them clean their own poo! I have a 2 year old who also messes with them but gets told no and puts it back.

AKissIsNotAContract · 18/05/2012 07:00

'As for poo encrusted loo brushes - give them a good rinse and shake when the loo is flushing. Several times if you must.'

Only do this if you want poo aerosol in your face. The lid should be down when you flush.

Morloth · 18/05/2012 07:01

I think anyone over the age of say 5 (with allowances either way for whatever) should be cleaning their own poo off the toilet at the time.

There are no poo streaks in the boy's bathroom here, I only really go in there to bathe the baby, but my husband and 8 year old are capable of keeping a bathroom poo free.

HecateTrivia · 18/05/2012 07:12

Yes, also, fresh poo is easy to clean off. Leave it there until it's set and you need a pneumatic bloody drill to get the chuffer off!

gallivantsaregood · 18/05/2012 07:20

2 things I don't understand....

A) How do the loos get into such a state in the 1st place. 2 adults, 1 child in this house but often 4 adults and 1 child when in-laws stay for weeks at a time and we never have this problem

B) Whis is there a need for loo brushes? Personally I wouldn't have one. Full of yukky germs, and completely disgusting.

A bit of bleach around the bowl, leave for 10 mins and all poo is gone. And when cleaning the bathroom, it's rubber gloves, cleaning fluid and disposable cloth....job done :)

Iggly · 18/05/2012 07:38

I meant with a clean flush. I would flush poo, chuck a load of bleach down, leave. Scrub if need be then rinse brush. Minimal poo on the brush.

And no I don't get tummy bugs or ill frequently so I think it's fine.

Iggly · 18/05/2012 07:41

I mean I don't ever get tummy bugs! And if I'm ill, it's a cold.

Those who use cloth and gloves, do you chuck the gloves too?

Megatron · 18/05/2012 07:41

I would be mortified beyond belief to leave skid marks in the toilets for anyone to see. Your cleaner is there to clean, yes, but to expect her to shove her hands down your toilet (gloved or not) to clean your familys shit is awful. Do it yourself.

CurrySpice · 18/05/2012 07:46

Just walked past the bathroom and saw my 9yo cleaning the loo. Our cleaner comes today.

YourFanjoIsNotAHandbag · 18/05/2012 07:46

My 8 yo cleans the loo as well.

rainydaysarebad · 18/05/2012 07:51

Why does your dp have his own toilet?

Noqontrol · 18/05/2012 07:55

I did clean it iggly. She's a lazy cow and she's not my friend anymore!!!
