Almost any other domesticated animal is better

catsareevil · 24/03/2012 23:04

Your error is in considering cats as a domesticated animal. They aren't, they do exactly what they want and over thousands of years have trained humans to meet their needs. Grin

cocolepew · 24/03/2012 23:05

Shittier than a shitty stick.

AgentZigzag · 24/03/2012 23:05

Cats have attitude.

If MN was an animal it'd be a cat, purr round your legs then hiss at you after it'd been fed.

Hamsters are shit, especially when their wheely things squeaks.

Fifivisage · 24/03/2012 23:05

You don't really know any well, do you?

iliketea · 24/03/2012 23:07

YAclearlyBU.

If you'd have said thick or uncoordinated you would have described my two beautifully, but shit, cats are most certainly not.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/03/2012 23:07

My cat didn't leave her shit all over the pavement (she used her garden), hump my leg, or put 3 policemen in hospital.

AgentZigzag · 24/03/2012 23:07

'Not as shit as a dead rabbit '

Or parrot? Grin

Have you got a rabbit who's 'gone to live on a farm' PP?

AnnaFender · 24/03/2012 23:08

Shock My cat is so annoying: always under my feet, whines constantly, scratches me and has the smelliest farts known to man. The other night he didn't come home for his dinner and I stayed up till 2am looking for him in and around our house...I love him! (he came home the next morning like nothing had happened Angry)

Tortington · 24/03/2012 23:08

pidjin, i'll give you better than a dead rabbit

dead domesticated animals aside....

yes i grew up with cats

Mine are clean, indoors mostly so no dead or half dead 'gifts' and pretty independent so just need food and water and a bit of attention every now and then - which is proven stress relief. They are seriously cute and gorgeous - 8yrs old and still look like kittens.
They don't need a cage, don't smell and don't need dragging round the park at 6am when it's pouring with rain/sleet/snow.
What's not to like?!

AnnaFender · 24/03/2012 23:09

Oh, and everybody wants to be a cat Grin

BelleDameSansMerci · 24/03/2012 23:10

Hah!

I have a theory about cat people/dog people. Dog people want to be needed; cat people don't.

edam · 24/03/2012 23:11

My cat's a bit unimpressive, tbh. Lovely and all that but he won't sit on laps. He insists that you come to him - he wants to be cuddled and petted and stroked, but only where HE is. Works for ds who is happy to get down on the floor and play with the cat but means I only get to cuddle him at bedtime.

He is ds's cat, to be fair, but my relationship with the cat consists of being mugged for food, shouted at for food, miaowed at to open doors (and then miaowed at again when he wants to go through the door in the other direction five seconds later). It's a darn good job I mostly choose to find this amusing...

SecretNutellaFix · 24/03/2012 23:13

Disagree- you really are bored, aren't you?Grin

Cats are independant and clever and don't hump the pet rabbit.

edam · 24/03/2012 23:14

Agree dog people want to be needed, but let's be honest about us cat people. There is something a bit weird going on... we don't want a pet who is easily impressed and will just adore us no questions asked. Instead we actively choose a pet who makes us work for their favours.

sunshineandbooks · 24/03/2012 23:17

I have a cat and a dog.

I think the companionship offered by the cat is better and he doesn't smell as bad either Grin but dog walking is ace and I know I do not possess the discipline to go for a walk twice a day if I didn't have a dog relying on me to do it.

MyDogShitsShoes · 24/03/2012 23:28

I have both. 2 cats 1 dog.

They all think I'm stupid and treat me like an annoying, slightly senile relative.
They tollerate me whilst making it obvious they think me inferior.

PurplePidjin · 24/03/2012 23:31

Yes, I buried him on thursday. Definitely a noticeable drop in entertainment value after two days in the vets' freezer and he died of an illness so I couldn't even make stew
