Almost any other domesticated animal is better

OP posts:
DoubleGlazing · 25/03/2012 19:37

YANBU. Agree that the cat is not a domesticated animal, so it's unsuitable as a pet.

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2012 20:12

I think Sparkling Cat is very suitable as a pet when she comes up to bed with me, lies on my chest purring like a train and stroking my face with her paw. Grin

Dh does get a bit Hmm mind.

swooosh · 25/03/2012 20:13

I hate my cat at the moment. She knocks at my window to come in about..oh, 5/6 times a night even though she has her window downstairs open to come in and out of and a full bowl of food Angry

can't ignore her because she's persistent. Then the bastard has the cheek to sleep all day and will go for you if you stroke her.

ScatterChasse · 29/03/2012 21:48

Sorry, just saw Edam's post. She was indeed called Bast, but it was pronounced Pasht. That will teach me to check before I post half-remembered things!

Savannahgirl · 30/03/2012 08:27

The cat that shits on my front lawn every day, is shit! I'm getting sooooo fed up with picking up the poo that someone else's pet has left on my garden! Tried everything - sprays, prickly stuff, powder - only thing left is now is to get a dog!

marriedinwhite · 30/03/2012 08:47

Noooooooooooooooo!! My boys are adorable, expensive but adorable. They are affectionate, loving, handsome, and fun. And they keep the mouselings at bay and the big nasty rats which can be fearsome when the Thames is at the bottom of the garden.

Whatmeworry · 30/03/2012 08:48

This is no way to talk about your overlords - you are being watched....

nancerama · 30/03/2012 08:55

YABU. They are not a bit shit - judging by the state of my garden they are very shit.

It amazes me that seemingly rational people think its perfectly reasonable to allow their precious moggies to poo wherever they please.

Cats are pointless. You will never get any loyalty. They go where they get fed. Also, they are evil

Whatmeworry · 30/03/2012 09:32

I have a theory about cat people/dog people. Dog people want to be needed; cat people don't.

Cat people want to be ruled over. With a rod....

(Has 2 cats.... )

TheReturnOfStropperella · 30/03/2012 09:33

They are indeed evil. And I am fed up with cat shit in my vegetable garden. Bleargh. I clear up after my dog. I want to tell the neighbours to come round and clear up after their cats.

ThatllDoPig · 30/03/2012 09:34

UANBU
They are indeed shit.
By their very nature they are selfish, lazy, and aggressive.

naturalbaby · 30/03/2012 09:40

What about people that have cats and dogs?
There's a lot of hate around, some people obviously haven't met the right cat yet. Wink

Cats are selfish and lazy (so am I, so what? we all have negative qualities) but not aggressive or evil. I have no idea why anyone can describe an animal as evil.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 30/03/2012 09:41

Cats are evil, that is all I have to say on the subject.

naturalbaby · 30/03/2012 09:45

Nice.
People are evil too.

Chirpychick2010 · 30/03/2012 09:49

What a crock! cats are not aggressive! My cat is the sweetest cat my dd is 2 and lies on pulls pokes prods and carries or at least tries to and the cat has never scratched hissed or anything else he just lets her carry on with out a complaint! My cat has never eaten or harmed another animal and sits watching the fish by the pond which he could have at any time! This is my first cat and i have three dogs and if i had had him first i never would have three dogs as he is fantastic and loveable and we would not be with out him! Smile so yes unreasonable to think all creatures have the same temperament and abilities and i hope you don't judge people in this way.

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 30/03/2012 10:02

An evil person has never pissed on my bed therefore evil cats > evil people.

naturalbaby · 30/03/2012 12:20

All cats are evil because one cat pissed on your bed?

The only time my cat pissed on my bed was when he was very stressed and anxious, and couldn't get past my noisy toddler to the litter tray. That's not evil.

What about my toddler who pisses on my floor?

TheReturnOfStropperella · 30/03/2012 13:08

OK, seeing as people have taken it seriously - I retract my use of the word evil. I will also out myself as a former cat owner. I once had 2 Siamesey-type cats of whom I was very fond. But they did behave more like dogs than cats. And I am definitely a dog person and I am unlikely to ever be a cat owner again. And I definitely will never, ever find coming across yet another cat poo in my garden a joyous event.

MoChan · 30/03/2012 13:11

I don't hate cats but I really wouldn't want one. The thing I can't deal with is the way they play with/taunt then kill little mice and birds and things.

I mean, I know that animals do kill other animals, for food, and what have you, and I accept that. But I have seen cats doing that taunting, playing, slowly victimising before killing thing and I just can't bear it.

ThatllDoPig · 30/03/2012 13:18

Good point chirpy I certainly wouldn't judge people this way. And upon reflection it is wrong of me to judge an entire species, only on the individuals I have met throughout my life, I obviously haven't met a friendly one yet, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
And when I said aggressive I didn't mean that all of them are aggressive to humans, some are, some aren't. But they are all aggressive to other animals, due to the hunting instinct to birds and mice etc. ( And why do they play with their prey and torture it, why not just kill and eat? - generally speaking, in my experience of course, yours might not do this!)

Chirpychick2010 · 30/03/2012 13:23

Thatlldopig i dont know why they do that with prey? My cat is a house and garden cat only he does not go out in the street or out of the garden so i suppose he doesnt have a chance to kill anything as the breed he is apparently are lazy loafing cats. Smile he doesn't even climb indoors as id hate to have a cat on work surfaces and the like ewwww so im very lucky i think GrinGrin

tabulahrasa · 30/03/2012 15:14

zukiecat... I'm very fond of my cats, I definitely don't hate them - I just also think if you think about it rationally they're a bit pointless and that they're definitely not as clever as dogs.

But you don't really buy pets rationally, do you? Sit and work out which animal gives the best value interaction for money and time spent, lol.

So I can think they're pointless, a bit thick and still like them very much - most posts I took in a similar way to that.
