to be confused? Transgender pregnancy.

In the papers today.

In short, a woman commences the transgender process into a man. She becomes/lives as a gay man. But keeps her womb and overies. Stops taking her medication, gets pregnant (deliberately) by her gay male lover.

I'm a bit lost here. Clearly she isn't a man? And I have to ask where the gay male boyfriend thought the was popping his sausage?

Of course she isnt a man. She is a woman, and no matter what you chop off, or add on, she will always be a woman.

I am aware this will not be a popular opinion, but I feel sorry for the child.

Why did they feel the need to make it so public?

WorraLiberty · 11/03/2012 22:26

Oh another one

The last case like this had such wonderful tabloid headlines as "Man gets pregnant"

I imagine that's why they've gone public because they're adding up the £££ already.

Birdsgottafly · 11/03/2012 22:27

Transgender people are born into the wrong body. He has decided to stop the process of change tohiscorrect gender, to produce a child via his biologically (wrong gender) given body.

What is the confusion?

I have had extensive dealings with trangendered people, so have some knowledge.

Keep forgetting to use my spacebar Blush

lesley33 · 11/03/2012 22:28

Apparently many transgendered female to males actually do keep their vagina as the process of creating a penis is so poor. Basically a penis can only be created for cosmetic reasons and to pee. It is thus only possible for women in this situation to have sex if they keep their vagina.

perplexedpirate · 11/03/2012 22:29

Why do you feel sorry for the child squeaky?

troisgarcons · 11/03/2012 22:29

Well it confuses me, and I don;t like being confused.

When Chasity became Chaz, he kept the same female lesbian partner. So did Chaz become straight man and the lesbian partner went straight also? or not?

We had a massive discussion about this at work; have some lesbian collegues and even they couldnt put a definitive opinion on it.

YABU. Who cares? War in Syria... Some nutter in the US army killing women and children in Afghanistan and you are making judgements about a much wanted baby being brought into the world with love?

There is a lot of judgment behind your 'confusion'

solidgoldbrass · 11/03/2012 22:30

Gender isn't a binary. Deal with it.

squeakytoy · 11/03/2012 22:31

I would have thought it fairly obvious why I feel sorry for the child. The child did not ask to be made an object of public spectacle, but this parent has sold their story to the press.

WorraLiberty · 11/03/2012 22:31

Ahh the war in Syria etc...

We might as well shut down all internet discussion forums until that's cleared up then.

SarahStratton · 11/03/2012 22:31

They may be in the wrong body, but he is still in a female body. He may be a man mentally and physically to look at.

But he is still a woman technically whilst he has female sex organs and is capable of conceiving a child and carrying it.

troisgarcons · 11/03/2012 22:32

No judgement in my op - I'm very much live and let live - but I am confused. We live in a tick box society. I would imagine form filling is a nightmare.

OP posts:
Birdsgottafly · 11/03/2012 22:32

Personally i think that sexuality is fluid and seperate from gender,so the two don't have to be thought about at once.

I have many friends that have turned out to be bisexual, don't see why labels have to be given.

lesley33 · 11/03/2012 22:33

sorry should have said only way to have penetrative sex

Birdsgottafly · 11/03/2012 22:33

No form filling is simple because of the "Gender Reasignment Act".

SarahStratton · 11/03/2012 22:33

Oh and I don't feel sorry for any child who is loved and wanted, no matter who, or what their parents are.

But to say a man is pregnant is wrong.

Birdsgottafly · 11/03/2012 22:33

You get a certificate and it is a protected category under the Equality Act.

OpheliasWeepingWillow · 11/03/2012 22:34

Grin at Worra Fair enough but honestly...

lesley33 · 11/03/2012 22:35

I do feel sorry for the child in terms of this being made so public.

troisgarcons · 11/03/2012 22:36

Form filling - gender isnt an issue but sexual orientation might be.

Eg when my elderly father was admitted to hospital the nurse asked him what his sexual orientation was. He looked a bit bemused, so I saidd "Dad, they want to know if you are straight or gay! Grin to whit he said "any bloody thing they want so long as I get a bed, soon!!"

But thank you to the person who put bi into the equation, I'd totally overlooked that aspect, so it's now all sorted in my head as I'd over looked that possibility

OP posts:
perplexedpirate · 11/03/2012 22:37

No squeaky it wasn't obvious, that's why I asked.

I still don't really get it to be honest. You feel sorry for the child because it's parents were in the papers while it was in utero?

Can't say it's the most pitiful thing I've ever heard...

FredFredGeorge · 11/03/2012 22:37

Chastity never became Chaz, Chastity was always Chaz, no change happened.

Stop labelling people with "woman technically", there's no such thing, and if your biggest concern is form filling - why didn't you write "AIBU to think filling out forms is a difficult thing to do?"

YABU

WorraLiberty · 11/03/2012 22:38

to whit he said "any bloody thing they want so long as I get a bed, soon!!"

Love it! Grin
