In the papers today.

In short, a woman commences the transgender process into a man. She becomes/lives as a gay man. But keeps her womb and overies. Stops taking her medication, gets pregnant (deliberately) by her gay male lover.

I'm a bit lost here. Clearly she isn't a man? And I have to ask where the gay male boyfriend thought the was popping his sausage?

That's very offensive to liken men who have fake breasts on their bodies either through cosmetic surgery or artificial hormones to cancer survivors who have lost real breasts to an illness that overwhelmingly affects women (females).

Women don't need to take hormones to maintain our breasts. If a man stops taking the hormones, his disappear.

Please don't call me names Rhino. I'm not a transphobic feminist any more than you're a misogynistic feminist denying female reality in order to pander to male delusions. We each have our own positions, it would be better to argue them rather than getting personal. I've already been called vile and arrogant on this thread.

Yeah, that is totally what my journey to become a woman was about, having an awesome shoe collection.

lesley33 · 12/03/2012 10:48

rhino - I know it was probably a joke, but it did kind of trivialise it.

But I do think any breasst done through breast reconstruction are fake, whatever the reason. Not a judgement imo, just a fact.

MateyMooo · 12/03/2012 10:58

ok so those men, who wish to be refferred to as men, who have moobs... that are grown naturally....

would they not be offended if i suddenly started refering as them as women.

I have a testosterone secreting tumour (i have posted about this before) and i can grow a beard better than my DH. I'm ALL woman, and i am very upset when people refer to it. but TBH i then feel guilty because the person saying it must be genuinely confused and erring on the side of political correctness.

ClothesOfSand · 12/03/2012 10:58

Right, so it would have made just as much sense to mention your friend's stamp collecting, or cycling trips. You just happened to mention how she looked in a dress and her shoe collection as a passing personal anecdote.

Like you just happened to compare being transgender to people from the group formerly known as women having a life threatening illness.

None of this has anything to do with you perception of the group formerly known as women at all.

Nyac · 12/03/2012 11:03

Their breasts of MTF transgender people are facsimiles of real female breasts. They aren't real.

Breasts on women are breastfeeding. A trans could not breastfeed a baby. The female body is real, it's not a feeling.

lesley33 · 12/03/2012 11:03

matey - I am sure people will think you look like a woman. But if they see facial hair they may assume you are a F to M transexual taking hormones and so try to be polite by calling you he or a man. Totally understand why this would upset you - it would me too - but it is probably people trying to be nice.

MateyMooo · 12/03/2012 11:05

thanks lesley

ClothesOfSand · 12/03/2012 11:07

What would you like me to refer to them as?

I am referring to them as the group formerly known as women because there isn't another term available to describe them.

I think you can't have it both ways tbh.

If a woman wants to live as a man (or vice versa) then carry on - I could care less, apart from the devastation they leave behind when telling their husband/wife that they've decided they want to live as the same gender as them and the marriage was essentially a lie, but that's a matter for another thread...

But if you want to live as a man, be accepted as a man, then you are a man. If you then want to get pregnant and have babies then no, you are not a man - you are a woman. You can't expect people to accept you as a man when you choose to take on the role of a woman in order to fulfil whatever need you have for having children.

And yes, I feel sorry for the child.

ClothesOfSand · 12/03/2012 11:33

Well some people who were formerly known as women are still women under the new definition. Some aren't. It is a new way of defining people in new groups. It doesn't mean the old groups no longer exist; they simply have no name now.

sassymcnassy · 12/03/2012 11:36

Stop calling your opinions FACT. They are not. If I have my breasts removed due to cancer and have them reconstructed, you tell me they are fake and you're sorry but thats just a FACT?

There are no facts here. There is perspective and opinion. It's people who insist on there being rigid definitions and unwavering facts (such as "you are a woman, FACT") that cause so much hurt for people struggling with these issues.

Nyac · 12/03/2012 11:38

I'm sorry I thought the whole point of this was that people are claiming it's a FACT that this woman who has given birth is a man.

Mind you we still haven't had what the definition of a man is if women who are pregnant are included in it now.

Nyac · 12/03/2012 11:38

Also I'm talking about what's real, not facts. Slightly different.

lesley33 · 12/03/2012 11:45

sassy - I am sorry I am really not trying to hurt anyone. But I just don't see how someone can see breasts with breast implants as anything but false. I would see women who have breast enlargements as having false breasts because they have been created by surgery and implants. But its not a value judgement.

Mrbojangles1 · 12/03/2012 11:48

lesley33 so if you keep yu vagina and are pregnant how the hell are you transgender

To me somone who is transgender what's to be a diffrent sex to what they were born

And associate with being the opposite sex keeping your bits when you can get them changed and then becoming pregnant dosent say I hate being a women to me

PErsonally if I were that unhappy being a women so much so I could stand to look at my self naked and had to bind my boobs of have them removed I would have the op
