NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes - why do you want a mug with Octopus Bits on it? (Nosy emoticon)

Pandemoniaa · 14/02/2012 13:56

Absolutely nothing. That's how we like it.

helpexcel · 14/02/2012 14:00

I just nipped out at lunch time and bought dh a 75p chocolate heart to go with the nice bottle of wine I bought us to share him.

ElizabethDarcy · 14/02/2012 14:01

Huge bunch of red roses delivered... and a card and a cuddle.. more to come tonight Blush Grin

I got him a card and chocs (2 bunnies kissing), and a framed card saying 'Did it hurt DH when you fell from heaven?' Into his lunch box went love hearts, a heart shaped lollipop, chocolates and some healthy stuff too.

Have made loads of lovely things with my mindees - cards and pretty Valentine muffins :)

MyNameIsNotSusan · 14/02/2012 14:23

We get a bit lashed on bubbly and shag lots. Thats about it.

V-day cards make me want to throw up all over the fluffy heart-shaped wuv woo teddies aisle int he supermarket.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 14/02/2012 14:43

Lashingsofbinginghere - love your name! Grin

It goes with a plate I bought, that has the rest of the octopus on it. I thought it would last longer than the half dead flowers (that's not guaranteed, we break things a lot in this house, but I'm hopeful).

Half dead flowers have still not materialised!

VikingLady · 14/02/2012 14:54

We don't do V-day (broke but pretending it is for ethical reasons!), but I'm expecting a creme egg each tonight. I got strawberries for us, and we'll have them after steak for dinner.

No flowers or cards - they only need to be thrown away. I have a real dislike of cut flowers, since I know they mean trying to remove limescale from a vase a week or two later, and that is all I can think about when I look at them. DH is massively tight, so he's pretty relieved!

Sazzy32 · 14/02/2012 14:59

I ahve got nothing and DP has got nothing.

First year as a proper couple, and been warned he doesn't do Valentines so figured I won't either.

Do i care?? Not sure.

I know he loves me and thats all that matters i think

KnitterNotTwitter · 14/02/2012 15:04

After several slightly unpleasant scenes DH is now very aware that I have low expectations but I do expect them to be met. All I ask for is a card ON THE MORNING of Valentines day. I do the same for him.

Card, Chocolates, Champagne, Flowers etc in the evening says he forgot and is trying to make up for it.

This year he is away but remembered so I'm VERY happy. Especially because DS has spent 3 days telling me that Daddy has given him a card to hide with love and flowers on it to give me on St Valentines day but that it's a secret...!

sensuallettuce · 14/02/2012 15:29

I got a card. And I am going to let off steam as to how bloody dissapointed I am about it.

Yr 1 massive bouquet of flowers yr 2 perfume and flowers this yr a card.

Never spent it together as he is in the Navy and last year he was away for my birthday and last night informed (over the phone as he is away) me he will not be home as expected for my birthday this year.

New years eve is our anniversary but also his ex-wifes b'day so we normally have all 6 of our kids which normally isn't massively romantic.

Every other weekend I spend in the kitchen cooking for said kids and driving his kids up and down the country.

Was I wrong to expect maybe a bunch of flowers? :(

mumeeee · 14/02/2012 15:32

Well I got a card that DH made on the computer he used one of his own photos. Before anyone says why didn't he buy you one. I actual love it when he makes cards as it shows he has put some thought into it. We don't do presents on Valentines day agreed that with each other a long time ago. We are going out fir a meal tonight which will be good.

StealthPenguin · 14/02/2012 15:36

Well, I'm having a bit of a picnic with DP when he gets home from work, and we exchanged cards and gifts.

I gave him a beautiful silver frame with a photo of me and him in Hay-On-Wye.

He has given me a set of 5KG kettlebells* and a book.

I've never loved him more Grin

*they're like dumbells but shaped like an old-style kettle. It's useful for toning up your muscles and I've lusted for one for ages! I really do love him!

TapirBackRider · 14/02/2012 15:40

He bought me a smart price valentines card and small bar of cheapo choc.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 14/02/2012 15:48

The half dead flowers have arrived, and to be fair, they are in better condition than expected, and they had a very small box of chocolates wedged into the box with them.

Neighbour has also arrived home and brought the parcel. It is a cup covered in octopus body parts, so I am happy.

LouMacca · 14/02/2012 15:49

Card, nice bottle of wine, 12 red roses and cooking a three course meal when he gets home from work.

We have been having some problems and are seeing Relate, it's really nice that he's making such an effort and things are going really well between us

catgirl1976 · 14/02/2012 15:52

12 red roses arrived a little while ago :) - lovely card this morning

and DH got me a McDonalds because I had fancied one for weeks Blush

JasperJohns · 14/02/2012 15:52

One of the things my dh does every year is secrete heart shaped chocolates all over the place for me to find.

This is very sweet, but this morning I put a tea bag and a boiling water on 2 of them (hidden in my mug!).

GeekCool · 14/02/2012 15:53

I got an hasty email from hubby this afternoon, nothing in the email body but the subject said: 'take it we're not doing anything for valentines' Grin

We never ever do, but I think he had a panic that I may have some surprise lined up, assured him not the case lol.
It's two for tuesday at Dominos though - they may make it heart shaped Grin

Chattymummyhere · 14/02/2012 15:56

Oh and I brought him a display unit for all the crystal lol

roundtable · 14/02/2012 15:59

Vibrating nipple clamps Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Next year...

Tigerstripes · 14/02/2012 16:20

I got a card, breakfast in bed, a single rose, a chocolate Rose and some Ferrero rocher (normally get at Xmas but he forgot and I was mad-too expensive to buy the rest of the year!).
He got a card and David beckham undies.
We were meant to be going for dinner but DH mistakenly booked somewhere far too expensive so now we're doing nothing this eve.
eatyoureyes loved the octopus updates!

Dotty342kids · 14/02/2012 16:26

Oh dear god, my parcel's just arrived. It's some vile pink coloured nylon looking "outfit" (and having just looked at invoice, vastly overpriced) tat from Ann Summers!!
he clearly listened to my underwear hints, but got it not quite right........... and I have told him 101 times about the nice underwear shop in our local town!!

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 14/02/2012 17:02

Take the Ann Summers tat back, replace it with something from the nice shop and then enthuse about how much you love it.

When he finally sees you in it he'll think they sent the wrong thing by mistake but won't be able to say it's not what he ordered because you love it so much. And he might get the hint for what to get you next time. Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 14/02/2012 17:05

A beautifully detailed enamel and silver Art Nouveau shamrock (to wear on a chain)

A bronze owl

A card, daffodils, chocolate LOVE sign.

And another card from the cat that made me ecstatic with joy.
