He has taken the DC (6 and 2) to London to give me a day of peace.

I made cards with the DC yesterday so he has three pieces of garishly decorated folded A4 art.

Pudden · 14/02/2012 11:40

a nice, sleepy shag :)

diddl · 14/02/2012 11:41

I´m now the owner of a single, peach rose.

Just been shopping & the supermarket are giving them awayGrin

Usually it´s a heart shaped choc today & a rose on Mothers Day.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 14/02/2012 11:41

Still no half dead flowers. It's still early, I won't get my hopes up that they aren't coming until at least 3pm.

There is a Hermes Courier Card though, something has been left next door (neighbour is out) so I'm hoping that it's the 'bits of octopus' cup and he got the message about no flowers.

I did send him a Moon Pig card, just to show willing since he's slowly freezing himself to death out in Norway. I'll cook him something nice when he comes home.

alessthandomesticgoddess · 14/02/2012 11:42

I got the complete works os Sherlock Holmes. I am ecstatic.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 14/02/2012 11:47

I've just remembered when an ex-colleague came to work on Valentines day looking a bit embarrassed and confessed that he had heard a noise at his door quite early that morning.

He'd looked out and spotted a rather good-looking man sneaking away and when he went downstairs there was a card, flowers and chocolates on the doorstep.

Colleague was delighted that he had such a good looking secret admirer...until the man knocked on the door asking for his presents back as he'd meant to leave them for the woman next door.

PastGrace · 14/02/2012 11:48

DP and I went into Marks last night to find that they had sold out of all Valentine's cards. He is getting one with meerkats on (having rejected the smiley fairy cake I initially picked) and I am getting a slightly naff one with flowers on. We are having a nice dinner on Friday.

If anyone's husband was the man I saw in the Holborn M&S yesterday and he has failed to provide anything spectacular, he did try. He was standing in front of a totally destroyed empty Valentine's display, holding an empty basket, begging the shop assistant if they had anything left. They didn't. But the thought was (belatedly) there.

MaybeSheWill · 14/02/2012 12:06

Nothing at all, not even a card. I won't be seeing him at all today, he's off his mate's house to watch UFC and shit films with explosions and no story line after work tonight like he does every Tuesday.

Had a text this morning to remind me to check the address of somewhere we have to go for an appointment tomorrow and that's it. Not even a happy valentines day or an I love you in there. Tosser.

Letchladee · 14/02/2012 12:10

I got a DVD of a film that I once mentioned in passing that I wouldn't mind seeing again. So DH tracked it down and bought it for me. So now, I have got to watch it, so I'm not being ungrateful Grin.

But bless him, he obviously remembered and thought about it, so that's special and he gave me a lovely card with a nice slushy message :-)

He is lovely :-)

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 14/02/2012 12:15

I got a lovely card and a Cath Kidston bracelet with little red hearts on. Sweet.

Only expected a card, and this year I got DH a card. No tat at all.

We are not big on Valentines day here.

mojitomania · 14/02/2012 12:21

I got flowers, a card with loads of pages of slush and a bloody great big white dog with a huge strawberry birth mark big red heart hanging off its nose, which I'm still shuddering about.

He got -

An appointment at the doctors

Grin
merlin · 14/02/2012 12:21

Card each and he bought M&S Dine In Meal for 2 - I'll be bloody starving by the time I get to eat that when the kids go to bed!!!!

Maybe we can start with the chocs!!!!

Rikalaily · 14/02/2012 12:22

A big box of Thorntons
A bottle of rose wine
A bouquet of roses

We are going out for lunch with the kids

I got him a teddy and a little trophy saying My no.1, I love you.

Astronaut79 · 14/02/2012 12:31

I will be having a card thrust at me en route to him starting tea getting a card when dh gets home.

He will get a card from me, although I'm not sure I've actually written anything in it. Hmm

tiddleypompom · 14/02/2012 12:34

He got up with DS this morning and I got a cup of tea - and an in-car iPhone stand so I can see the sat nav. He isn't a fluffy type but he's a good egg.

Wine & dinner (another for m&s) this eve and I may even put some slap on.

Lueji · 14/02/2012 12:34

Stbx for almost a year now has just sent 3 electronic greeting cards and probably something delivered (I didn't open the door).

At least it's a change from the death threats.
But who knows, those may still come today.

Good times. Wink

Housemum · 14/02/2012 12:43

Glad to know we aren't the only people who don't do Valentine's Day! From my FB friends, everyone seems to have been suckered into the whole shebang, but to be honest it seems so far removed from the whole idea of it that I grew up with ie an anonymous card from girl-or-boyfriend to boy-or-girlfriend (or potential girl/boyfriends). Now it's just a full on commercial insistence that it is "romantic" to buy an overpriced card and gift for your parnter on one specific day along with every other person. I prefer ad hoc gestures any day.

So we have bought nothing, but am using the day as an excuse for the kids to make some heart shaped biscuits.

I bought dh a multipack of port scrathings Grin (not joking).

I'm a veggie and can't stand them but nothing says love like pork scratchings in our house, he was veryeasily pleased!

He in turn gave me a card and then said erm were weren't doing presents this year...

Garliccheesechips · 14/02/2012 12:56

Probably something last minute from Tesco..

Abcinthia · 14/02/2012 12:58

DP's gift to me was a Pot Noodle.

I got him a mug, a card and made him breakfast in bed.

GirlWithPointyShoes · 14/02/2012 13:25

I got a box of fruit and fiber and he got a packet of bacon.

NoWuckingFurries · 14/02/2012 13:32

I got a pair of slippers (I had wanted some for Christmas but better late than never Grin ) and a Mary Berry sweet treats cook book.

DH is getting home made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing I've only eaten 3 so far and a mini bottle of prosecco. And a shag if I can stay awake that long

Dotty342kids · 14/02/2012 13:39

I gave my DH a little hamper of treats (freshly ground good coffee, a bottle of his favourite real ale, chocolate heart lollipop, "Mr Perfect" socks, chilli sauce and chilli popcorn) and a card.
Got a card from him (with a very sweet made up poem!) and assurances that Mr Postman would be bringing something today. Nothing so far. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It had better be good when it does arrive seeing as he's away working for next two days so no romantic dinners here......

sayithowitis · 14/02/2012 13:42

A card. There are several important family birthdays in February, including mine, so money is always tight this month. But we always get each other a card and he always makes sure I have an lovely birthday. More importantly, he lets me know all year how much he loves me by being an equal partner in our marriage, doing household stuff ( more than his fair share tbh Blush ) and still holds my hand when we are out. This is our 37th Valentines day. And I still have all the previous 36 cards.
