ElmoFan · 08/01/2012 16:44

Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, teaandcake, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

I have no wine :( because I'm very pregnant. But I'll share my Maltesers with you and make you a cupa. Can I still join your buddy bench? I'm feeling a bit new and slightly fame singed.

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 21:19

Dozy all are welcome Smile

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 21:21

I was very brave tonight and told my mum the truth on how I really feel. And that I prefer not to see them Sad Cried on the phone but feel better for telling her.

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 21:29

Is it ok to come here and have a whinge? Or is it pleasant posts only?

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 21:34

Grin What's up? Confess all to the buddy bench. We shalt not judge Wink

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 21:40

Had such a shite day tea. Am dealing with Velcro baby by day who is unsettled at night "D" P who is getting right on my tits.

And to add insult to injury, kind friend who knows I am under it at the moment invited me, baby and DS (3.9) to dinner with her and family at a pub. DS was a sod. Offences were -

Kept shouting out poo at the top of his voice
Threw napkins on the floor
Put a pencil in her daughter's water
Lobbed a slice of carrot at the window.

Added to which DD filled her nappy and it leaked everywhere.

DS went to bed with no bath and no books.

I broke diet by eating chocolate Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 21:52

I feel your pain. I have a 3 & 4 year old. What's dp doing?

Did your friend understand? Do you think ds is struggling with the new addition?

< passes arachniphobia a Brew>

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 21:56

DP is working. It was a mistake me thinking I could go out with both in my sleep deprived state and think I could manage.

DS has seen me argue with DP twice this week, one argument was particularly bad so maybe it's that Sad.

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 22:04

Ds was a colicky baby, drove me mad. Do you co sleep?

Can you get some special time with your big boy this week?

Do not feel guilty it's always hard with a new baby and one already, unless you're Mary Poppins Wink This too shall pass it will get easier. Take all offers of help and sleep when the baby sleeps. I used to stay awake once I had 2 dcs and try and do things like housework Blush

CheerfulYank · 08/01/2012 22:04

Ah, that sounds hard Arachnophobia. Come have a sit on the Bench. :)

Oh my goodness Tea! That is very brave, would you like to talk about it?

Welcome everyone!

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 22:19

Tea you did housework in the night Shock

I don't co-sleep my mum had a cot death baby and I am too scared to.

DozyNosy · 08/01/2012 22:19

Can I have a rant? Well even if I can't I will.
I have just spent the whole day being endlessly fucking lectured given very helpful advice on pregnancy and babies by MIL and GMIL. If I listen to half this "advise" I'd probably end up in trouble with SS at best. I'm not being PFB because there is indeed such a thing as passive smoking and it is definitely not the same as a bit of dirt is good for them. I think you will find it is also rather stupid to leave a baby/small child alone with any dog. I'm also not so sure it's the best thing to leave them in their pram with a hot water bottle at the end of the garden for an afternoon nap in winter. Oh and there was more, much much more. Even about how Europe and hippy nurses should top telling us how to bring up children Hmm Can you guess what newspaper they read?
Seriously amazed PD has managed to reach adulthood and remain so well adjusted.
That is all. Rant over. I probably am being a bit PFB aren't I? Well it was still annoying and I still think they are twats should mind their own business.

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 22:19

Thanks Yank Grin

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 22:21

Not PFB at all, the DM rants are so annoying aren't they Dozy?

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 22:26

No no when they napped in the day Arachnophobic Grin

Ahhh Dozy my MIL and mum are like that may I suggest a marvellous book? It's been a life saver for me.

RowanMumsnet · 08/01/2012 22:26

Hello,

Just wanted to let you know that we've moved this thread to 'Chat'.

Thanks
MNHQ

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 22:28

Ya Cheerful but it's been building after the Christmas get together and evil fb. It is the route of all evil Wink

I realise this will not make sense to our 2 newcomers, it's a long story. But I need to go to bed Cheerful can explain Wink if you're interested. Personally I'm enjoying all the new chatter on here. A lot!

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 22:29

Oh thank you Rowan it's always been in AIBU for the last 2 years. So people could find us who'd been flamed in aibu. Won't it be deleted too quickly in chat?

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 22:37

It would be nice if this could be kept here Grin

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 22:38

In AIBU I mean

Teaandcakeplease · 08/01/2012 22:42

But it's not they've moved it to _chat already. It's been below the mn towers radar for years but perhaps someone complained about it in aibu. It began there under another name and evolved into this thread many moons ago. We all know each other rather well now and send each other Christmas cards Blush But we love getting new visitors Grin

Hope Valium can find us now it's been moved

CheerfulYank · 08/01/2012 22:43

Um...but if it goes into Chat it disappears, doesn't it? I like to look over the old threads and see where we were a year ago, etc. We're quite close and we keep track of what's going on in each others' lives. :o

Could it be somewhere else?

DozyNosy · 08/01/2012 22:56

Arachnophobic It was MIL not DM. But yes both are annoying. DM not as bad but I'm sure she still thinks I'm about 4, she told me to do my coat up the other day Blush.

Teaandcakeplease I will add it to my wishlist. I think I need it.

Normally I have no problem being really quite bossy asserting myself, except for with DM, MIL and GMIL. The older they get it just seems easier to nod and smile.

Arachnophobic · 08/01/2012 23:00

DM is Daily Mail Grin

DozyNosy · 08/01/2012 23:01

I didn't realise this was a long standing MN thing with regulars. How did it start? Is it just for flamed and naughty MNers? I'm a newbie (joined in august) and a bit of a nobbie no mates, I've managed to get a serious roasting twice so far.
