I agree with catsrus, and I would urge you to consider that there is some real abuse on some of the feminism and relationships threads from misogynist posters which deliberately seek to hurt women, going well beyond reasonably 'contrary opinion.'

There is a huge difference between freedom of expression and deliberate, intended hurt.

That's what I think.

And I think MNHQ needs to address this much more seriously than it has been.

We have banned quite a few people and we really do take it seriously. But I stand by my post all the same.

I don't deliberatly wind anyone up.

But anything you want to know please fire away and ask I am sure i can show you proof of almost anything.

agree with Justine and CatalilieSisters re feminism but would say that imo a lot of the dogma on feminism came about because of the troll-y posters, which meant that things got very entrenched. it was a BRILLIANT place to hang out before the pisstakers turned up. whereas the doghouse... some poor bastard asking a question about their pooch that didn't conform to the herd mentality wasn't doing it out of badness and to get a rise. i think they were just asking a question about their mutt.

I don't agree with all you are saying but it has been interesting seeing everyone's opinions.

I think the fact that I got so het up about 2 strangers on the internet, a doglover (when I don't own a dog) and a pram hun (when I don't own a pram) means I have spent tooooo long on MN whilst bedridden and on the tramadols, so have decided to give Mn a rest for a bit. Not a daft attention seeking flounce, and will come back when I am better.

TLES - I want you investigated yes, based on the posts MADE BY YOU that were listed on the deleted thread as well as linked to in this thread, some of them anyway.

The fact that there is inconsistency, contradictions, blatent lies and what I would call deliberately winding people up.

All these reasons have been posted in this thread however so you really don't need to ask why people want you investigated and to do so I suspect is just going to cause more debates.

I'm not sure even whether to post my most probably insignificant thoughts on this.

The doghouse is not a place I frequent, and so have seen none of this vituperativeness.

The calls on here seem to indicate that Val's input is so very welcomed on MN, although the style may be a touch harsh.

Perhaps then, another reiteration of the need for a more mellow posting style is required rather than a reactionary ban to what, granted taken out of context, seemed not to breach the beyond the pale guidelines issued on here.

As an aside, this thread has been very edifying and evening swallowing.

I read and post on threads about parenting on MN. Nobody has every made me feel like I am not good enough to be a parent or made me feel a failure.

I read threads about pets on MN, but I have learnt never to post on them. I have seen too many people judged and found wanting to dare post myself.

I can see why MNHQ feels that that sort of atmosphere doesn't sit well in the broaded MN scheme.
