And you should all be emailing, jumping up and down and generally making a fuss please?

LoveInAColdClimte The site or the shirt?

Dawndonna · 07/10/2011 21:19

It would appear that it really isn't incitement to rape. However, a complaint to trading standards, the company themselves and the hosting site of the company should produce some results.

Seen it. The shirt. RESULT!

mamalovesmojitos · 07/10/2011 21:20

Saw the t-shirt. Didn't browse the site. That really angered me Angry. I emailed the three addresses. Not acceptable.

PerAr6ua · 07/10/2011 21:20

I have screenshots saved for when the police get in touch.

Re not directing traffic to the site - well, I personally would never retweet or do anything without actually seeing it for myself. Too much spam and misunderstanding about, so no, wouldn't ask friends and internet sprites to take my word for it.

Andrew - the shirt. Site's still there but not that shirt.

PerAr6ua · 07/10/2011 21:21

Dawndonna why not incitement to rape or assault?

This issue is so confusing me. It's come on the same day as all the publicity has occurred for the FB site that is seems to be pro-rape. That site's name got mentioned on Radio 1 news, so of course I had a look, and loads of people were congratulating them on the great publicity ('like this if you came here cos of Radio 1' etc) - and also posting links to their own vile sites. Now I'm wondering if Mr Nasty T-Shirt man had got wind of this and thought ohh I can create a lot of hits here....

Have mailed! Can't believe it!

PerAr6ua · 07/10/2011 21:24

They've pulled the webpage for the shirt. So I took a screenshot of that too.

Apparently because it's not an attempt to be serious.
Spoken to legal bods about it.

snoopdogg · 07/10/2011 21:24

Dawndonna - so if I say 'yeah, burn the misogynists with a mix of petrol and lighter-fluid [wunk]' I can't be done for it?

I have a crime report reference number now. This makes me happier.

Here is a link to a screen shot if anyone needs it. Note how it's shows it was available for children.

Sick bastard.

caramelwaffle · 07/10/2011 21:37

The t-shirt has gone. Good.

LazyDaisy123 · 07/10/2011 21:38

Hurrah to the power of mums! Lets hope it stays down!

MmeLindor. · 07/10/2011 21:42

Good that they took it down.

I am glad that you were able to look at that tshirt and feel nothing but disgust for the people who would make it, but some victims of rape did not have the same reaction. There were a few posts on Twitter that showed the depth of feeling that the tshirt raised.

Whether it was a bad joke gone wrong, or an attempt to court publicity, the quick reaction shows that the site owner realised that the tshirt was a step too far.

CotherMuckingFunt · 07/10/2011 21:42

I just got this as a reply to my email:

"First of all, we would like to offer an unconditional apology for this t-shirt. CharGrilled does not endorse rape or sexual violence in any form.

Unfortunately we have recently contracted a number of new designers who contribute t-shirts to our website. Needless to say, the designer responsible for this t-shirt will not be used by us again. Furthermore, we intend to have a full review of our t-shirts to make sure this kind of message has not been included in other designs. The offending t-shirt has of course been removed. We will be introducing more stringent controls on all our contracted designers and have contacted everyone who contributes t-shirts to our site to inform them that this kind of message is unacceptable.

We would like to thank you (and indeed a number of other rightly concerned people) very much for bringing this to our attention.

I hope that you will accept our sincere apologies over this matter.

CharGrilled"

MmeLindor. · 07/10/2011 21:44

Good fast response, but I do have to wonder at a company whose controls over what is offered on their website are so lax that they let this pass by.
