Acquittance has a baby that is 5 weeks on Monday. She has left her baby 1 hour and 40 min away at her Mum's, because 'she cries at night', now I am not the most maternal person but there is no way I would have left DD at 5 weeks, DM helped get her into a routine at 11 wks but I was there. AIBU to think this isn't on?

I'm in a strange vortex outside of the quiche wormhole, and would just like to point out that the OP has gone, that she's not needed anyway at all by the other mum because the other mum clearly has her own mother, and that AnyFucker is not anti-military nor is Mumsnet.

I am posting as a PND sufferer as well as having schizoeffective disorder.

I left my baby and went to a rock festival when she was less than 2 weeks old.

Looking back now I feel horrendously guilty and dont realise how I could of done it as when DS came along 9mo ago I couldn't be parted with him for a minute (and still can't)

At the time though I needed to get away from the baby, being near her was making me suicidal and I felt as though she would be better off with another mother. I was terrified of being alone with her and felt she was in danger with me around because I wasn't a good enough mum to keep her safe.

I was diagnosed with PND and got medication for it the day I got back.

You never know the full story for why people do the things I do. On the face of it I looked like I didn't give a shit about my newborn daughter and wanted to party and get off my face instead.

The reality of it was I felt like I wouldn't survive another day around my child and spent the whole time away sobbing and realising how much I missed her and needed her. Sad

So yeah, snout out. She could be having a really rough time and even if she isn't, a few extra nights sleep sounds like bliss for a new mum.

Thanks AFSmile

Sookeh · 18/09/2011 00:11

Thanks Bombay Smile

I really feel though, that I shouldn't of left her so young. I wouldn't have if I'd been in a proper state of mind.

All I did was cry and miss her the whole time anyway and left a day early Grin

Not to suggest other posters replies weren't serious replies of course!

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 18/09/2011 07:50

LilRedWG · 18/09/2011 08:15

Sookeh - I'm sorry that you had such a tough time. Please don't beat yourself up for it though - you had PND and should not be ashamed of that.
