to hate the phrase "yummy mummy"

and MILF for that matter... Hmm

one of the girls I work with is expecting soon and keeps going on about how she loves the idea of being a "yummy mummy".

I really cannot stand the phrase, and even worse when I'm refered to as a MILF, by my male colleagues, and expected to take it as a compliment.

Why do people think these terms are at all acceptable? or am I just being a miserable bitch?

MILF is not funny, and i wouldnt appreciate it from male colleagues. yummy mummy grates on my less. though i would never use the phrase myself, i have no problem with people who want to keep appearance as a priority post childbirth. i wish i could be arsed!

YANBU. There is far too much pressure on mums to be back in their pre-pregnancy jeans, glammed up and looking fabulous when their baby is 3 days old.

MILF is just a horrible term that should only be heard from spotty adolescent socially inadequate males.

YANBU, I HATE it with a passon.

I make an effort to look good, still manage full makeup most days (I'm a bit of a cosmetics geek) and have lost most of the weight; however I can't stand the expression "yummy mummy".

I think it's because it's so often used in magazines and refers to celebrities who lose a ridiculous amount of weight in an unrealistically short time after giving birth (which, IMO, makes them look a bit ill). Ugh.

I manage a full face of makeup most days and have (finally) managed to shift most of my pg weight, but a simple, you look nice or have slimmed down again, would be so much better than either phrase.

That said nothing beats one of my colleagues who asked if I was BF'ing when I returned to work, i thought he was just taking an interest, turns out he always wanted to try it - what did he expect me to do? pop a boob out and say well there you go?????

would love to be a yummy mummy but i look like shit most days!
Hair scrapped back in a fuzzy ponytail, a half hearted attempt at make up and my post section enormous pants dont quite fulfill the description though I fear.
DD is 9 months and im 12 weeks PG with DC2 and having the life drained out of me isnt hugely compatible with the concept of "yummy Mummy"dom :(

hate that phrase too, my boss goes on about how his wife insisted on this particular car and this particular buggy as it is what all the yummy mummies have...hate hate hate it

YANBU, I hate "yummy mummy." Someone I know has a necklace with it on, I would punch DH if he ever bought me such a tacky piece of crap.

HeidiKat - a mum at the school has it on a necklace too. It was a present from her DH after she had her dd. I would have throttled him with it.
I do have to admit that someone called me a MILF recently and I was flattered Blush. But then I am in my forties and everything is fast heading south so compliments like that don't come my way every day.

I can't stand MILF - it's horrible. I don't mind "yummy mummy" although I find it pretty naff and rather low rent. Those necklaces sound like the ultimate in tat. Yellow gold are they? Lovely.

I thought it was just me that hated the term yummy mummy! It started when I couldnt find a nice changing bag that didnt have the term written all over it and was cemented the day I was at soft play and a group of "yummy mummies" (matching pushchairs, bags with yummy mummy all over them, loud chat about social lives so EVERYONE had to hear) were enjoying their coffee so much that they missed their baby choking on a bit of a foam ball it had bitten off. He must only have been about 8 months.
