Hello everyone.

My son bought a friend back from school today which was fine. No problems. WHen his Mother came to collect him she looked around at my kitchen with a definite sneer and barely thanked me for having had her son after school. My house iS slightly chaotic at the moment because i am under work pressure, but i found her attitude offensive. AIBU?

no, nothing wrong, I just found it funny that the two main parties in a story have nannies and au pairs and cleaners, made me chuckle, that's all..

There is a wide demographic on MN, some of whom have to get by on very little. It is considered very a bit off to come on here and be quite so obvious about what you have.

So, has the washing machine packed up, or are you incapable of loading and unloading it?

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 18:27

how about going to see some of the people that come and stay? Grin

scaryteacher · 06/04/2011 18:28

The term is bed linen, not bed laundry. Did you say you were a writer?

hedgefundwidow · 06/04/2011 18:28

Hello BootyMum, yes, we are very lucky. But i do sometimes long for a nice little 2 bed room cottage with roses round the door and no pony paddocks to poo pick. I don't even really like horses! But in fairness, JJ does his share when he's home on exeat for the weekend. Cant grumble.

Don't forget the bed linen being laundered... I am so Envy!

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 18:29

I don't think people who aren't poor should hide what they have or pretend to be poor in order not to offend anyone... ( and I say that having been rich in the past and being poor atm)

hedgefundwidow · 06/04/2011 18:31

sorry - yes it's linen. But it goes in the laundry. Oh, you know what i mean. Told you i was frazzled.
Yes, i'm a writer. Why, do you write too?

well... you work from home and he works away, the childcare comes to you... sell your big house that can take ten guests and go for that little cottage that you so long for...

Unless of course there's no laundry service near the cottage Wink

hedgefundwidow · 06/04/2011 18:34

don't be green faced! I would do anything NOT to have to go round like a loon making sodding beds up! I just want to collapse in the bath with my manuscript and a bottle of cold Sancerre. But no, i am about to scrape encrusted egg from the floor, scrub dough from work surfaces and balance on a rickety stool to remove play dough from the beams. How did it get on the beams??!!

i can't say i'm not sorely tempted.... I used to like doing my own laundry! It was comforting. I like nesting.

hedgefundwidow · 06/04/2011 18:58

i did, been meaning to join for a while now but was minus a lap top - not very helpful having to write longhand. My writing is awful. Almost 7pm. I think i WILL have that glass of wine. Need it after the day i've had. Bye for now. x
