Hello everyone.

My son bought a friend back from school today which was fine. No problems. WHen his Mother came to collect him she looked around at my kitchen with a definite sneer and barely thanked me for having had her son after school. My house iS slightly chaotic at the moment because i am under work pressure, but i found her attitude offensive. AIBU?

hocuspontas: no, am not related to cotswoldcountrymother. Why would you think that? I have however seen the barrage of abuse she has received. Not nice. I can't abide bullying so i reported it.
The wine is calling. Ciao for now. x

Just for you, Hedgie Smile

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:05

do stay, wine and mumsnetting go perfectly together. Can't you just call oout an emergency baby-sitter?

I was being sarcastic because (as you know) noone here calls their husbands or partners or even children for that matter JJ, James, Yvonne, sweet darling, baby etc etc etc.

DH is emetic enough for a mumsnetter

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 06/04/2011 19:05

Sorry, but this is a jape...who is it? The nanny, the cleaner, the husband called James, the laundry for bed linen, the house guests, the pony just dropped into the conversation a propos of nothing, that delightful JJ helping out when on exeat from boarding school, the career as a writer, the homemade cakes, the Sancerre.....

...just too too artful. I know, it's Jilly Cooper!!!!!! Welcome to Mumsnet JC!!

pigletmania · 06/04/2011 19:06

Like others have said dont have him over again, Sad that his mothers rudeness will alienate him from his peers in that way

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:06

ooh, I see, sorry I missed the boarding school bit, so JJ is James Junior of course... not the husband...

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:07

who is Jiily Cooper (off to google)

hocuspontas · 06/04/2011 19:08

It was the pony connection that made me think

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:09

oh, shoot, sorry brain fart, THAT jilly Cooper. I honestly thought she was dead... Didn't she die last summer? Who was that? Maybe wine and MNing don't go together after all...

pigletmania · 06/04/2011 19:09

Jilly Cooper, used to read that at boarding school, Riders, Rivals, The man Who Made Husands jealous Grin

scaryteacher · 06/04/2011 19:10

I've just reread Score, as I needed a not having to concentrate too hard book.

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:10

surely Jilly Cooper wouldn't need a nanny at her age though...

cheekynamechange · 06/04/2011 19:11

I dont care who it is, i want her life! Husbands a hedgie and he works away all week, she writes, she has ponies and jj goes to boarding school!

Fucking result i reckon!

Come back Hedgefundwidow and get the next chapter of your book under your belt.

MotherMucca · 06/04/2011 19:12

It's all jolly good fun tho', gels.

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:12

really cheeky? I wouldn't want my husband working away for a single day, let alone all week Sad

BitOfFun · 06/04/2011 19:14

This is the same one as CotswoldCountryMummy, isn't it? Terrific fun though.

MrsBananaGrabber · 06/04/2011 19:15

Grin Wink Wine

mathanxiety · 06/04/2011 19:19

Not really wise to mention actual names on threads (James, JJ) btw.

I'm going to follow ScaryTeacher's lead and ask a few questions about the laundry -- do you have spare sheets or is there absolutely nothing on the beds right now? Do you have a dryer? I suppose what I'm getting at is that it takes very little time to bung sheets into the machine and then take them out and put them in the dryer even if you're working during the day (if you have a dryer that is).

Maybe the YummyMummy saw the play dough on the beams and perhaps flour on her child's clothes and wondered if her child had been adequately supervised? She was a bit rude to raise an eyebrow, but you might not have come across as the most organised mum she has ever met, or even as one capable of supervising two active boys for an afternoon. But she was definitely a bit unfriendly to refuse the offer of the glass of wine/ chance to chat.

Did she know you were the mother or did she think you might have been a really messy nanny?

On balance, I think I would shrug it off. You win some and you lose some and it sounds as if the children had fun.

Alouiseg · 06/04/2011 19:22

I think it's Caitlin Moran, she was bitching a bit about Mumsnet on Twitter earlier, perhaps she came over to cause mischief?

If so, nice one Caitlin, keep it up Wink

AliSheedy · 06/04/2011 19:25

Daily lady? pmsl

Heart bleeding for ya, love

twilight3 · 06/04/2011 19:31

oh, come on people, I've now finished reading both threads and don't knwo what to do, come back OP! (the live-in nanny is cleaning the kitchen and preparing tomorrow's lunch so I'm a bit bored)

PeterAndreForPM · 06/04/2011 19:34

< waits poised with fluorescent dauber for next instalment of upper class bingo >

BitOfFun · 06/04/2011 19:41

Daily lady, pah. Jilly would have a twice-nightly man.

spiralqueen · 06/04/2011 19:52

So it's Hedgefundwidow's darling James who is partially responsible for the rest of us not being able to afford our own army of paid help/laundry service then...
