Benefit Bashing

Kendodd · 18/02/2011 16:40

A mum I know and her DP with two children live in a two bed (nice) HA house. Neither of them work and have not worked for as long as I've known them (two years) I don't know about before then. She has told me they are trying for another baby, not to get a bigger house or anything, just because they want four children eventally. I would love four children but can't have that many because for one we just can't afford four.

AIBU to feel a bit pissed off that they can have more children and I can't or am I just a jealous benefit basher.

ps They are both nice and don't have a flatscreen TV.

:o

My gran does that, she phones and says hello Kathleen/Gail/Kenny/I mean diva.

I used to find it annoying and hysterical but now I do it, but as she points out she is 80 I am 24 LOL

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2011 10:53

Are people over 35 supposed to call others 'young man' or 'young lady' then?

Hmm
FooffyShmoofer · 20/02/2011 11:33

Yeah Fanjo and then watch next weeks thread entitled "AIBU to be pissed off at MNers talking to me like they are my MUM?

There's no pleasing some folk.

ScramVonChubby · 20/02/2011 12:07

Fanj yes. And then start playing early 90's rave music at them whilst rattling on about how we remember when music was music and Tinie Tempah had yet to ruin the minds of young kids.

Wink

And as I have 4 boys I just find 'Oi boys' suffices normally, though have nnoyed ds4 tends to refer just to the elder two as the 'oi boys' so am assuming that i yell at them most.

Portofino · 20/02/2011 12:16

Who IS Tinie Tempah exactly? I have never heard of him/her/it.....

mamadiva · 20/02/2011 12:18

Tinie Tempah is fab!

Not ruining anyone's minds and he is rather easy on the eye... always a bonus :o

90's rave music is bloody offensive to eardrums... Wink

ScramVonChubby · 20/02/2011 12:32

(it was a joke clam down people LOL- must admit can't stand Tinie but DH is the nineties raver not me, I am more BEP etc).

Porto a rapper who blathers on about having so many clothes he has to keep them in his Aunt's house. Or something. Very popular with t'young'uns. Well except mine who think he's shite. Apparently he can keep drinking until he passes out. Congrats to him for inventing that, then! Wink here

DS1 is somewhat embarassingly for an 11 year old into take That, although he does like B.O.B. DS1 is more a BEP and Basement Jaxx kinda kid.

ScramVonChubby · 20/02/2011 12:34

Ah my getting of Mama's wink didn;t come over- forgive me, I need caffeine. I did get it hough honest. Was h'amusing.

Unlike DH's music collection which is shite. this is a man who prefers to keep a cassette deck in the car. Argh. Bizarrely we make our living through retailling DJ Equipment yet you;d think he'd never ehard of anything released since 1992.

mamadiva · 20/02/2011 12:51

:o @ Tape deck!

I still to this day do not actually know how to work out how to work a tape deck LOL

ScramVonChubby · 20/02/2011 13:00

Grin Like a DVD mama, pretty much the same.

They'll be coolmagain soon, like vinyl is, just you wait

MogadoredMemoo · 20/02/2011 13:24

Shit, DH and I have 5 dc, we have taken to caliing them number 1, number 2 etc. I am a bad parent!

LadyOfTheManor · 20/02/2011 17:01

Oh dammit I come back, read through the thread and try too look at these "indecent" photos to find that she doesn't have a profile anymore :(

confuddledDOTcom · 20/02/2011 17:10

Thank you popcrackle, I'm not sure how many people read it because it doesn't seem to have been noticed in the following posts.

KazBarTheFriendlyGhost · 20/02/2011 17:14

LadyOfTheManor, I only saw one picture, not indecent in any way, just posing in a provocative way with a vest top on - showing cleavage - no big deal actually, and if I had her body then damn right I'd be proud of the pictures.

My initial point was that - could she see why people would make that assumption of her - as people tend to base opinions on first impressions. (Not that I had made that assumption in any way shape or form)

I truly believe that beauty is from within, (perhaps cos I'm ugy :)) and as the night went on and the wine was (presumably) flowing, I reckon what she was eventually typing was rather ugly.

But I blame the wine.

And FWIW Princess/Starlight (cant remember your new name) I'm pleased you came back.

popcrackle · 20/02/2011 17:39

No, thank you confuddled. It may have been missed because of the princess pictures, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Grin

princessstarla · 20/02/2011 17:53

And FWIW Princess/Starlight (cant remember your new name) I'm pleased you came back.

Cheers Kaz!

confuddledDOTcom · 20/02/2011 18:50

Ha, well I think it was close to that that I wrote!

LadyOfTheManor · 20/02/2011 19:18

Princess, no profile this time around?

DianaXXX · 15/11/2011 01:02

Im in a council flat and my story is not as wonderful as many would assume!
Iv been abused so at age of 18 was placed in supportive housing at 21 got the council flat went to uni and got pregnant 6 month ago now Iv been leaving in a one bedroom council flat for the past four years. Me and my boyfriend are On and of and with this attitude i don't even want him to stay around as my baby once born would need stability.
The issue now really is that, the flat that i live in is on a ground floor in a purporse build block with four flats downstairs and four upstairs. I'm downstairs in a middle of two neighbours. On one side I share the bedroom wall with an old neighbour of 80+ that smokes and drinks all day long and the smoke gets into my flat as the flats are small and the walls are thin. When I moved in 4 years ago he fell asleep with a fag and half of his flat got burned down so the council had to re do the whole flat including new windows. On the other side I have a mentally disable guy who makes noises at all hours of the night always poking his head in my windows and last year he nearly burned himself down as well, he has a mind of a 5 year old and no social worker or anything to help him with his issues which he clearly needs.
I was uncomfortable with these sort of neighbours for a while now but considered myself lucky for having a council flat, however now that I'm 26 weeks pregnant I am worried for the health and safety of my unborn child and i applied for rehousing. The council refused me on the grounds that's my reasons are insufficient. I'm really worried now & don't know what to do!
I think I should be rehoused to a safe environment and to a larger more suitable property for me and my child.
Any advise would help a lot, thank you for taking your time to respond x
