Benefit Bashing

Kendodd · 18/02/2011 16:40

A mum I know and her DP with two children live in a two bed (nice) HA house. Neither of them work and have not worked for as long as I've known them (two years) I don't know about before then. She has told me they are trying for another baby, not to get a bigger house or anything, just because they want four children eventally. I would love four children but can't have that many because for one we just can't afford four.

AIBU to feel a bit pissed off that they can have more children and I can't or am I just a jealous benefit basher.

ps They are both nice and don't have a flatscreen TV.

squareheadcut · 18/02/2011 23:24

if u want 4 kids, u should have 4 kids and u'll find a way through, shouldn't begrudge others their life choices yabu

StarlightPrincess · 18/02/2011 23:26

them poles wont writhe round themselves...

Why do you keep calling me a pole dancer? It makes no sense! I'm not in my underwear on any of my pictures on a pole lmao! I'm fully clothed!

Oh MarioandLuigi- Yep I claim tax credits. Again, universal upto a certain income. Not means tested. Question answered!

Now I really do have to go. Have fun.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:26

Thesecondcoming how exactly am I smug?

Is it wrong to work hard and pay for your own child?

Is it wrong to feel pissed off at people scrounging off the government while a large portion of them don't look for work?

And people aren't slinking off defeated FYI! They're going to bed... Some people have things to do and benefit seekers with a massive sense of entitlement just won't be told.

CrispyCakeHead · 18/02/2011 23:27

actually an internet connection is pretty cheap these days....internet mobiles cost from as little as £8 a month; cheaper than some phones without internet.

and mobiles are pretty much seen as a necessity rather than a luxury these days and a real alternative to a landline; I know lots who have no landline at all infact, so your argument is pretty much invalid giraffeonit. Or are you suggesting that poor people shouldn't have telephones/TVs/a life?

now what's that old saying again.....pride comes before a fall? As has already been said, no-one knows whare they will be in a year/two years time, especially given the way things are shaping up since May 2010.

Crispycakehead everythings cheap when it's not you that pays for it!

And secondcoming - I was simply responding to someone who suggested I get an education.

Lol!

Love it.

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:30

what is a benefit seeker?

is that someone who looks for benefits before actually claiming?

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:31

"Is it wrong to feel pissed off at people scrounging off the government while a large portion of them don't look for work?"

just make sure you direct your anger at the people who deserve it. we aren't all lazy good for nothing scroungers.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:32

Boofuckinghoo - I wouldn't know the right term... But jump straight on that when it is crystal clear that you have no other defence.

popcrackle · 18/02/2011 23:32

Giraffe to Popcrackle Popcrackle it is your attitude that is disgusting - do you really think it's at all acceptable to have children and expect everyone else to pay for them??

... And Popcrackle - I am educated to university level! Probably why I can afford to support my child huh?

Well, well - let?s just be clear here. I'm going to hazard a guess that when you did you degree, you and your parents were cool with everyone else paying for you to go to University, with the resultant outcome of higher earnings.
Glad it was not all down to hard work for you. A bit of help from your fellow tax payers must have really come in handy for you.

Well, anger is being directed at me, I'm being judged as well, am I not entitled to do the same?

StarlightPrincess · 18/02/2011 23:33

You're fighting a battle with the MN Liberal Mafia.

At least in RL they are the minority! Grin

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:34

can someone please answer my question???

if i give up my internet and PC can i have another child? i have all the clothes and equipment from ds2 and i will BF exclusively for 6 months, i also have reusable nappies. it really wont cost the taxpayer me anything at all til it's about 5, i will just share the other two's food out for teh baby.

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:34

aslong as you direct it at the right people. dont brand us all just because one person is judging you. not a very thought out response is it?

CrispyCakeHead · 18/02/2011 23:35

saw it booy....thread moving too fast, lol Grin

giraffes; I am not a benefit seeker with a massive sense of entitlement, and neither are TSC and Booy and others from their posts. From what I can see, those arguing against the ridiculous judgments being poured on this anonymous family are all people who have paid our taxes for many years and are either now, or have done in the past, used our contributions to society to get us over a rough patch.

Don't think there is a benefit scrounger amongst us Hmm

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:35

giraffe what are you referring to?

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:36

2.1
Canterbury
English lit & film studies.

And yes, I use it in my job.

Next?

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:37

"Boofuckinghoo - I wouldn't know the right term... But jump straight on that when it is crystal clear that you have no other defence."

sorry, i meant this. what is it referring to? it sounds like a dig. is it?

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:38

Starlightprincess.... I might just leave it and go to bed!

I have to take my baby to overpriced swimming lessons in the morning. Lol..
