Benefit Bashing

Kendodd · 18/02/2011 16:40

A mum I know and her DP with two children live in a two bed (nice) HA house. Neither of them work and have not worked for as long as I've known them (two years) I don't know about before then. She has told me they are trying for another baby, not to get a bigger house or anything, just because they want four children eventally. I would love four children but can't have that many because for one we just can't afford four.

AIBU to feel a bit pissed off that they can have more children and I can't or am I just a jealous benefit basher.

ps They are both nice and don't have a flatscreen TV.

OP posts:

and I can't believe I forgot this...

OP, YA(most definately)BU and obviously a jealous benefit basher!

StarlightPrincess · 18/02/2011 23:10

Shit, I just noticed it's a full moon!

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:10

so again starlight, i ask you, is your policy to automatically judge people on benefits without knowing their story as lazy and unwilling to work? sort of like a guilty until proven innocent in your eyes isn't it.

StarlightPrincess · 18/02/2011 23:10

In this case yes.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:10

And popcrackle - I am educated to university level! Probably why I can afford to support my child huh?

StarlightPrincess · 18/02/2011 23:11

And on that note, I'm off!

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:11

no i am not assuming anything. i am saying that they could have any number of reasons for not working, disability being one of them but you weren't interested in finding out tehir reason you prefer to judge first.

MarioandLuigi · 18/02/2011 23:11

Giraffe - maybe you should polish your halo

Starlight - I was quoting the OP from upthread.

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:12

right, so lets hope you are never faced with applying for benefits and dealing with a benefits officer who just assumes that you are lazy and unwilling.

MarioandLuigi · 18/02/2011 23:12

Ignored my question about tax credits - wonder why Hmm

CrispyCakeHead · 18/02/2011 23:13

Starlight, no-one arguing the good name of this particular family is assuming anything! we are trying to make you see that your assumption is a crock of shit by proposing counter arguments to your unshakeable feeling (based on a questionable OP with no concrete evidence in it) that they are the world's worst scroungers.

Lordy, you're tenacious.....

Starlight - I would appreciate your thoughts on my post upthread concerning the cuts to your own family, if you get moment.

thanks*

I don't agree with any cuts in DLA to those who truly need it. That is completely wrong and for anyone to take away a disabled person's only source income is wholly wrong.

Have you actually read the proposals? Have you?

Because, and I realise that this feels irrelevant, but sometimes, when something actually hits your family smack in the face it produces empathy for others.

Just a thought.

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:14

it's ok crispy, she has admitted taht she is just a regular old judgey pants and a benefit basher. she has no valid reason for assuming as she does.

NoSuchThingAsSociety · 18/02/2011 23:15

A lot of people mistaking a willingess to spend other people's money on their own pet causes for compassion on here...

popcrackle · 18/02/2011 23:15

Ok so Kendodd comes on here complaining that she can not afford to have 4 children, but if you see below, she has had 3 and has found 3 dead easy, yet she is saying on above ave income. But hey lots of posters will still come on and support her viewpoint.

Kendodd Thu 06-Jan-11 14:30:45
You know the flip side though?

I had three children in three years and found it dead easy, a lot easier than going to work. BUT... nobody is allowed to say that, I get jumped on if I don't tow the 'it's so hard' line.

Good luck with your baby, it doesn't have to be hard.

Kendodd Thu 06-Jan-11 15:05:55
We have an above average income but still can't afford to buy anything! I went to the sales recently because I needed some new shoes as mine were falling off my feet. I saw most people with loads of bags packed full of stuff, how do they afford it?

CrispyCakeHead · 18/02/2011 23:15

"and on that note, I'm off"

or maybe not so tenacious Wink

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:16

MarioAndLuigi - it's okay, I'll have the butler do it ;)

KazBarTheFriendlyGhost · 18/02/2011 23:16

usualsuspect · 18/02/2011 23:16

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/02/2011 23:18

I imagine it does! And crack presumably? Because that's what I said! Lol

Throw yourself a pity party with my taxes ;)

BooyFuckingHoo · 18/02/2011 23:18

if i give up my internet and PC can i have another child?

CrispyCakeHead · 18/02/2011 23:19

"A lot of people mistaking a willingess to spend other people's money on their own pet causes for compassion on here..."

eh? Confused

I missed that relevation Booy! Must go back and re-read the beginning....My blood started boiling after the first few posts and I must've skipped a few in my eagerness to catch up!

usualsuspect · 18/02/2011 23:19

'A lot of people mistaking a willingess to spend other people's money on their own pet causes for compassion on here.'
