A mum I know and her DP with two children live in a two bed (nice) HA house. Neither of them work and have not worked for as long as I've known them (two years) I don't know about before then. She has told me they are trying for another baby, not to get a bigger house or anything, just because they want four children eventally. I would love four children but can't have that many because for one we just can't afford four.

AIBU to feel a bit pissed off that they can have more children and I can't or am I just a jealous benefit basher.

ps They are both nice and don't have a flatscreen TV.

But you dont know that about the family in the OP - you are assuming (and you are assuming, you cant surmise because you dont have enough info) that these people are on benefits.

What about Tax Credits? Are you entitled to those? Do you claim them?

OP has said they don't work. I think, in this circumstance, it's pretty safe to assume that they are living off benefits.

The point is, she has known them for 2 years and they have never worked. They may well be applying for jobs, but, again, it's a "what if". I took the OP at face value, not for hidden depths and meanings.

no you didn't you judged based on the 1 piece of information that OP knew and that was that both parents were at home during the day. you assumed they were lazy and unwilling to work.

BTW starlight. 2 years is quite normal in my area for being out of work and still be applying for every job going. tehre are just no jobs here.

Popcrackle - I'm not that well off at all... We saved and budgeted to have a child. My DH works very hard in his full time job, and very hard at his freelance work too. It is actually your attitude that is disgusting - do you really think it's at all acceptable to have children and expect everyone else to pay for them??

And actually I don't claim child benefit... Perhaps I will and put it into am account for DD when she is older, but as yet, I haven't.

People who can't afford to have children, shouldn't have them.

I know that some people find themselves in a tough situation but come on! How much is an Internet connection and a laptop / desktop / phone... That the taxpayers pay for for you.
