Multiculturalism has failed

Now whilst i believe the debate itself has merit ( though think that DC has put a rather disturbing anti islamic slant on it)
I do not think it the wisest day to do so given that there is a planned march by the English Defence League (think BNP with more hair) today

march in Luton

And Gordy, you still haven't answered the question I asked about 5 times, so I'll ask again-

Why do you think it is acceptable for people to come over and drain the system, and not put back into the country?

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 17:33

yes bringnbuy and my particular favourite are those AS who are able to sub-let thier property that they jumped to the top of the queue for!!!

So NAS pays the original rent, then they sub-let and get the money - nice little earner I say!!!!

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:33

Her family are Irish, Dobie.

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:34

no more than I think it's acceptable for British people to do it but you don't seem to get that it isn;t that easy for none Brits to claim - even those from EU countries

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 17:35

I am paranoid of those on the computer - One time on another site this fella was going on about how he was BNP and coming out with real hatred and venom, turns out from his youtube account he was a Pakistani fella - what was that all about??

Therefore never believe anyone is who they say they are on the internet!!

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:37

Well then! That's the answer I was looking for. Thank you for finally answering it.

And you didn't even know until I and some other posters told you that EU immigrants could claim benefits upon entering Britain. Again, read back what you wrote.

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 17:37

Princess - haven't you noticed yet that if someone hasn't got an answer to your question they will either ignore it or ask you one instead!!

Some on here would be great as politicians I tell ya, evasive or what? LOL.

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:38

Tell me about it...

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:40

I knew it's my JOB to know - but you seem to think a) all EU migrants are treated the same and b) they have the same rights as British people - they do not :)

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:41

gordyslovesheep Sun 06-Feb-11 13:43:20

but you CAN'T claim benefits if you are an imigrant

Did you or did you not say that? This tells me then, that you did not know they could claim benefits.

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:42

do either of you claim benefits? only you seem very precious about them - and council houses?

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:43

well if you quote the whole thing you will see I was refering to those whith no recorse to public funds :) like my Australian mate

I am part of the EU - Britian is part of the EU I don;t really consider that 'immigration'

softglowsandmaybes · 06/02/2011 17:45

My neice is a single parent with three children, all looked after by the state - her and her friends were on their facebook bemoaning how the immigrants come over here and take all their benifits!!! I kid you not!! I raked them over the coals i can tell you.

Of course there are those that come over here and take the piss, but there are a good proportion of Brits that take the piss, go through life popping out kids for my tax to pay for, feign illness so they can get "on the sick" lazy bloody wastes of space.

There are plenty of people that i resent paying my tax too, someone in genuine need seeking asylum, then i don't begrudge it at all.

I do think that the immigration criteria need to be tighter. My parents toyed with the idea of emmigrating to australia, they have a points system and you have to have something to offer, preferably in high demand industries in order to be considered. That is what we need to adopt here, but I would not want to live in a country that would flatly turn down those genuinely seeking asylum.

I hate that "they take our jobs (they do the jobs that many brits dont want to do and are too fecking lazy to do)" "they take our benefits - really? Get a fucking job!"

My friend is chinese, she came here for a job, a very specific job that actually, all the applicants were from overseas. She is an excellent scienist - we were lucky to get her, and her husband. They had worked in australia and america previously - thats how it is in science, there is work all over the world - what is wrong with that? They have settled here now as they have a Son in the English school system, shock horror - he got free education!!! Oh no hang on, with their specialist jobs that were interviewed for around there world, with actually no British candidates - they pay their bloody taxes like everyone else!!!

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:45

Yep I live in a council house. So what?

Yep, I get CB, CTC, and partner gets WTC.

Point being, we pay into the system.

We haven't just waltzed over from the EU and been given these, without contributing a penny.

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:46

pmsl good oh :)

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:47

Definition of immigration-

To enter and settle in a country or region to which one is not native.

How is moving from exmaple, Romania, to England then not immigration? The EU is not a country.

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:49

Softglow I tend to find those who shout loudest about benefits, cowcil owses and taking our jobs are those who don;t work and resent people eating into 'their' welfare pot.

There was a really interesting prog about Polish immigrants - they stodd outside a job centre offering people the exact same job these polish guys where doing (picking veg) all these able young men turned it down flat!

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 17:49

but you don't see brits moving to Spain in the same light as EU people comming here - but it's the same thing - 'immigration'

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:49

Yes softglows, I wholeheartedly agree with what you said.

Gordy, you just seem to think that whoever disagrees with your views is racist. It is NOT racist to want people who move here TO FUCKING CONTRIBUTE.

softglowsandmaybes · 06/02/2011 17:50

My DP is a builder, he has noticed that there are lot fewer eastern europeans in the building trade now things aren't so rosy here. I think thats fair play. They work bloody hard, all hours and benefit from it. Some of his friends settled, some didn't. Same as Brits who decide to go to other countries to work, one of my neices went to australia for a year to work and havea good time - no one criticises that

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:50

My partner works, so sorry to disappoint you, we don't live off benefits.

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 17:51

Yeah, of course it is immigration. Please, quote me where I said that it wasn't.

alemci · 06/02/2011 17:51

I don't agree with europeans being able to get child benefit for children who do not live in britain. Especially when they want to cut child benefit for higher earners(not us).

also getting a student loan for tuition fees by a university and not necessarily paying back as they will not be earning over 21K in their own country. yes I know there will be graduates here as well. they may even get a grant paid for by the British tax payer but i may have got it all wrong.

bringnbuy · 06/02/2011 17:52

my understanding of it is that an economical migrant is just that, someone going somewhere to look for a better way of life/money motivated. i may be wrong but i think of the term 'immigrant' as someone who is more of an asylum seeker, someone looking for sanctuary from a worn torn state. am i right?
