Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Hi Cheekysox!

Valium - that sounds like my old school!

gomummygo · 27/03/2011 23:03

Cheerful in case you get to make the trip, I just thought I'd let you know that I have some excellent quality luggage that you can borrow. Oh yes, and one of the suitcases may be heavy. Don't ask any questions. Just look nonchalant as you go through customs whilst they discuss the gomummygo-shaped body moving around inside. Grin

Elmo I can totally meet you in NY! I also had a fear of flying but have pretty much conquered it with much torture practise. Cheerful NY would be a perfect stopover on your way to PEI! Grin

Valium I also am Envy of school uniforms. I actually think it would improve the school environment in many ways if we had them here.

CheerfulYank · 28/03/2011 00:06

oooh, I can go to NY too! I can take the train :)

Gomummy let's start finding a middle meeting a point...somewhere with fun kid stuff!

I just talked to my friend about a possible UK trip...we are cautiously optimistic at this point. :)

CheerfulYank · 28/03/2011 00:11

And yes, will definitely try to fit you in my luggage gomummy :o

elmofan · 28/03/2011 10:13

Envy At you both living only a drive/train journey away from NY , It would mean an 8 Hour flight for me to get there - but the thoughts of shopping till i drop & meeting you both just might get me on that plane Grin
Oh & cheerful make sure you put a " FRAGILE" sticker on the suitcase gomummy is hiding in Grin

Teaandcakeplease · 28/03/2011 10:17

I've just started a thread in chat: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1181343-My-body-is-amazing come and pay a visit if you have time Smile

Yes Elmo, I am only a drive from N/Y (albeit a long one, but well worth it!), opposite direction to Cheerful. You can add excellent restaurants to your list of reasons to come.

Cheerful when planning fun meetup spot we'll have to remember that our DSs will be three years older than they are now!

Grin
elmofan · 28/03/2011 18:12

Ooh my BF loves a restaurant called "sardi's" Do you know of it by any chance?

valiumredhead · 28/03/2011 18:47

Evening all :)

gomummygo · 28/03/2011 19:48

Elmo, I do know of Sardi's. Not my personal style but v. old and popular, Manhattan if I'm thinking of the right place, Broadway style. Wonder if they'll take our reservation this early? Grin

candleshoe · 28/03/2011 21:11

Very jealous of all this NY talk! We won a competition (muller yoghurts) and went to NY for 4 days in 2009. It was fab and I'd love to go again.

elmofan · 28/03/2011 21:39

lol gomummy - think i'll google sardi's before we go making any reservations Grin BF & i have very different taste .

She loves the yellow cabs in New York , even has a huge picture of a yellow cab in her house Grin .
My sister is very posh nice so we would have to go somewhere nice for a meal Grin

Grin
CheerfulYank · 28/03/2011 21:42

It's a 21 hour drive from my house to NYC...totally worth it if you ask me! :) I took the bus there ten years ago or so and had a blast.

Gomummy how far apart are we again? I must look. :)

candleshoe · 28/03/2011 21:45

Elmo - please buy a very large Edwardian style cruise ship trunk with in built drinks cabinet because I'd hate to miss out on the duty free. Grin Wine

CheerfulYank · 28/03/2011 21:48

It's only a 9 hour drive for gomummy! Practically a trip downtown. :) It's actually less time for me to go to gomummy's than for me to go to NYC...crazy, huh?

elmofan · 28/03/2011 21:49

No probs Candle Grin

LOL

Cheerful 21 hour drive Shock How long would it be by train?

candleshoe · 28/03/2011 22:22

I begin to feel I have been travelling light all these years!
thepaintedwoman.blogspot.com/2010/02/1930s-travel-pt-1-luggage.html

candleshoe · 28/03/2011 22:24

Wow - wouldn't you have loved to have been very wealthy back then ... it was all so elegant and refined.

Actually come to think of it I probably wouldn't have fitted in socially ... even with some smart luggage Grin

gomummygo · 29/03/2011 00:05

Elmo, no prob, sounds like your sister and I have similar tastes in restaurants. Confused Used to go to NY often so have a long list of places we could hit!

Ah Cheerful, 21 hours is nothing for us, right? It's a much longer drive than that just to get to my PIL's...we can come here first and rest up then go meet Elmo! Grin Will need the energy to help her lift that suspicious trunk....

candleshoe · 29/03/2011 11:04
valiumredhead · 29/03/2011 12:11

Urghhhhhhh I WISH I could fly Sad

I have just cleaned my windows - God, they were filthy and only did them the other week!! All this sun shine is showing up the dirt Grin

How is everyone? Sorry I disappeared last night - how rude to say hello and leave! Wink I came over very tired and needed an early night!

Tiredmumno1 · 29/03/2011 18:59

Am so excited, cheerful your parcel arrived at mils today, i will pick it up thursday, thank you so much

Grin

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

And to answer your earlier question elmo, my scar seems to be healing well now Smile

CheerfulYank · 29/03/2011 19:14

Oh good, am glad it came! :) Aww...sloppy baby kisses :)

Yes we will have to have a meet up sometime, won't we?
