Ok ---

DD (5yrs in reception) has been having a bit of trouble with a boy in her class (lets call him M) last week dd's teacher phoned me to say dd had bumped her head in yard at break time & could i collect her early , when i got there it turns out that M had thrown a stone at dd's forehead , so since then all i'm hearing is " M hit me today , M keeps pushing me onto the ground ... " etc

DD gets off school at 1.30pm but ds gets off an hour later & because the school is 7 miles away from where we live we wait in the school car park for ds & dd plays on the grass there with a couple of her friends .
Today M's mum was there (normally they have a child minder to collect M ) chatting away to another mum , i smiled as i passed by & said hello etc
then dd asked if she could play so i said yes & waited near by a tree they were playing under . The second M saw dd he charged at her to knock her down Hmm then his 4yr old sister [who is actually bigger than my dd] screamed into dd's face & slapped my dd in the face with her doll , i said (in a loud voice hoping to get M's mums attention) thats not very nice & called dd over to me saying " dd if they are not playing nicely walk away from them"
(M's mum still ignoring her little darlings & she was standing just on the other side of this tree) so i walked closer to where they were chatting .
After dd stopped crying she wanted to play again with a little girl on the grass so i agreed as she promised to stay away from M & his sister . As she was walking over to her pal M's sister ran at her & hit her again & then M & two of his pals pinned dd up against the fence shouting into her face.
This time i said " Do not hit DD , that is not a nice thing to do & told dd to tell M's mum on them . Just then M's sister ran to her mum crying & saying that my dd had hit her Shock Angry

M's mum looked over at me { now this got her attention} and asked me what had happened so i said " well your dd was the only child doing all the hitting i'm afraid " & i told her what her dc's were up to while she was chatting " she stood there kissing her dd's face while her dd smirked at me Hmm

DD was very upset so i put her in the car with me to calm her down & had to sit there watching M & his terror of a sister sticking their tongues out at dd every few minutes .

valiumredhead · 22/03/2011 17:59

Oh ick - I know that smug look sooooooooooooo well! Infuriates me! My friend's little girl does it all the time and I want to yell at said friend and say 'You are plying right into her hands, she's manipulating you ffs!!'

Of course I never do - but by God it's tempting!

Yes thats the look ............ Aggghhhhh
Grin

Thanks for the Brew I know they are only little but after what my ds has suffered i fear i may have become some what intolerant of childhood nastiness
Blush

valiumredhead · 22/03/2011 18:45

I would've been cross too!

CheerfulYank · 22/03/2011 19:23

You just let me know if she needs to go on my Slap List, Elmo ! Angry

I hate parents like that! DS is normally pretty well-behaved but he occasionally hits or pushes like most not-quite-4 year olds, and when he does I give him the business ! I would be mortified if he behaved like that.

elmofan · 22/03/2011 20:00

will do, thanks cheerful Grin
How are you? has your dh left for LV yet?

I think what annoyed me the most was that she
was happy to ignore her dc's while they were hurting dd
but as soon as her dd started crying at the thought of my dd telling
on her all of a sudden she wanted to know what was happening.

gomummygo · 22/03/2011 21:39

Just reading that makes me grind my teeth, Elmo. Angry Is it late enough in the day there to offer you a Wine? You are not being oversensitive, that is terrible behaviour from both the mum and her children. I think you did well not to yell in her (the mum's) face and see how she likes it actually.

candleshoe · 22/03/2011 23:19

Elmo - I would've lost my temper at that I think - well done for your zen-like calm.

valiumredhead · 23/03/2011 10:19

In Greece there is a saying ' I had a baby, everyone else had a dog' - sums up mothers like that perfectly , don't you think elmo? Grin

Beautiful day here - I dropped ds and his mate at school and then did a Tesco shop - I was back home by 9.15am - feel like I have been up a fortnight! Grin

gomummygo · 23/03/2011 11:50

@ Valium - we've got a not-so-balmy -14 today. I am so ready to get the windows opened and everything aired out on the clothesline.

Had never heard that saying before, but it fits perfectly for some!

valiumredhead · 23/03/2011 13:00

Hi gomummy! :) minus 14 eeek!!!! That's a tad on the chilly side! Grin whereabouts are you?

CheerfulYank · 23/03/2011 13:08

GoMummy is a lovely Canadian :)

It snowed again here last night...only about two inches from the look of it but it's started up again. Sigh... they canceled school though, which is FABULOUS!

candleshoe · 23/03/2011 13:16

Feeling very sorry for snow-bound MNers - glorious sunshine here in Gloucestershire Smile and I am almost enjoying my household drudgery today.

valiumredhead · 23/03/2011 13:24

That explains the snow and minus 14 Grin

Urghhhhhh I can't bear snow as I am SO terrified of falling again after my accident.

candle I know your neck of the woods well :)

gomummygo · 23/03/2011 16:35

Ugh Cheerful I feel your pain. SO sick of the white stuff. Is it typical to cancel school for two inches? Seems when I was a child it had to be almost an arctic whiteout for school to be cancelled and now it is often cancelled for much less, perhaps that is just my change in perspective though, lol!

Sorry Valium, didn't know you didn't know I was from the land maple syrup and beaver tails and poutine! :)

CheerfulYank · 23/03/2011 16:46

Mmm, delicious! We will be having a feast of Scooby Doo shaped mac 'n' cheese in a bit. (Well, DS will) :) It's a special treat as I am anti-packaged food for the most part.

It wasn't the snow as much as the wind. 30-40 mph and it's very icy b/c we'd had so much melting when the weather was actually nice. Plus it hasn't let up all day...sigh...winter is NEVER leaving! But we can't be stuck in the house all day! After I'm done cleaning the kitchen we're going to take DS' sled and trek downtown to see our friends at the bookstore.

elmofan · 23/03/2011 17:24

Hello Smile

We have all had an eventful day here , DD had an accident in school at 11.15am this morning . She ran straight into a cast iron fence & has a huge lump on her forehead . The school rang me asking me to take her straight to my GP or A&E . we took her to my doctor & he gave us a list of things to look out for . We have to keep her awake for 8 hours (she is pleading with me to let her sleep on the couch with her pillow & blanket Sad )
She has a hospital appointment for tomorrow anyway so i might get them to check her head while i am there .
How is everyone ?
valium that saying made me laugh Grin
gomummy and cheerful that food sounds lovely you are all making me hungry .
candle I didn't feel very calm inside i can tell ya Grin

valiumredhead · 23/03/2011 17:49

OUCH elmo poor dd!!! Bet she has a raging headache!! Sad

Dh and ds are taking down the old trampoline and putting up a new one - I am supervising from the kitchen window! Wink

We just had salmon, noodles and sugar snap peas which is ds's favourite as he loves fish! Yum!

elmofan · 23/03/2011 18:02

Yep i gave her calpol , just two more hours to go then i can let her sleep , poor thing keeps asking me if she can go to bed or sleep on the couch .

Did your ds get his fish finger sambo yesterday ? Grin

Ok you have all made me hungry so i'm going to send dh off to the chippy soon . I'm far to busy cuddling dd to cook . Grin

valiumredhead · 23/03/2011 18:19

Yes - fishfingers make everything better! Grin

Why do you need to keep ds awake - I thought that was very old school advice now seeing as the potential for concussion is anything up to 48 hrs after the bang to the head, did the GP say?

Mmmmmmmmm chips.......mmmmmmmmm.........mmmmmmmmm

elmofan · 23/03/2011 18:32

The nurse at my GP's surgery told me keep her awake for 8 hours Shock so should i be worried about letting her sleep tonight ?
Maybe i should have gone to A&E Sad
She's eating fine etc just seems very tired in her self but not drowsy or anything .

valiumredhead · 24/03/2011 07:56

How is she this morning elmo? Sorry, I posted that then didn't come back last night x
